Boutique and attentive service
The room was clean and suitable for our one night stay. All staff were lovely and accommodating. We appreciated the free parking. There is a nice restaurant downstairs which had great food. They kindly accommodated us on a busy night without a booking. Our room was up two flights of stairs, something to be mindful off if travelling with a large suitcase. We just decanted what we needed into our hand luggage.
The room was very hot, however noting it was peak summer and UK properties are not particularly built for heat. We did have a small window and fan but it did very little to cool the room.
The most outstanding feature of our stay was the exceptional staff we encountered from check in through to our dinner and breakfast the following morning. I've stayed in some high quality places around the world on business and leisure trips and I can honestly say I can't recall anywhere that exceeded the welcome and the engagement with the people working here. The evening meal we thoroughly enjoyed and breakfast was also of high quality, noting the sausages and bacon particularly which is often where hotels cut too many corners!
On the night we stayed it was very hot and despite the best efforts of the Dyson fan, we found the room rather stuffy. I doubt there's anything the hotel could do about that and on any other night I imagine this would not be an issue, so read this comment in the context of the exceptional weather event.
Friendly, helpful reception staff and good parking. Comfortable bed.
Tired room, cracks, needs repainting, got woken up from 7am with extremely loud doors banging constantly and staff shouting directly outside our room. Cleaning staff tried to enter our room an hour before checkout waking us up. Not worth £120 a night. Such a shame.
Fabulous hotel in a great location with the nicest staff …couldn’t have been nicer
Everything was great
The air con was a added bonus and the bath was fantastic. The water in reception was nice touch.
The breakfast was delicious superb property
Thank you

The staff , especially the lady on reception, couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive during our stay . The hotel itself was exceptionally clean and comfortable and the air conditioned room was a welcome bonus in current hot weather. We didn’t use the hotel bar or bistro during over night stay but it looked very civilised and inviting.
Stunning & immaculately clean. Staff were amazing! Was an incredibly hot weekend and got back to the hotel in the small hours, there was iced water at the bottom of the stairs to take and extra tea and coffee I’d needed. Didn’t eat there but I should imagine it was first class.
My only gripe was the pillows were very soft and had no support for my head and neck
Vriendelijk personeel

Clean tidy well appointed,great restaurant
Room very small
We booked a junior suite which turned out to be a very good choice as it had air con. It was also on the back of the building so was quiet.
Very nice dining and breakfast area and a nice bar.
No fridge in the room and if we’d had a different room the lack of air con. Apparently it’s a listed building so they can only have it in the back 3 rooms.
De staf
De lokatie (maar daar kan niemand veel aan doen)
Very friendly and comfortable hotel. Excellent, freshly cooked breakfast.
Decor was very plastic. Could have skipped some of the plastic flowers and had a few plants in the lobby/restaurant that need water. Some local photographs/paintings on the wall would be better than the current display which is unrelated to Maldon.
Breakfast poor
Breakfast poor due to the Butcher not delivering that morning
