Pros:

Only negative was the evening meal. Did not justify the price. Table service was excellent but the quality of the food was below par for the price. For example: a starter from the kid’s menu and a burger from the main menu for the same kid ended up costing £25 for the burger, due to how pricing works. Everything else about the hotel was lovely but next time we would go out to eat. Breakfast, on the other hand, was exceptional, especially the cooked breakfast. Tasty, healthy, well presented… We have to assume there is a different chef doing breakfasts.

Pros:

From the photographs, Kincraig Castle Hotel potentially offered so much but delivered on nothing. My room, whilst large in size, was tired with mildew on the blinds and furniture from the 70s. A most uncomfortable bath.

Dinner was dreadful. The location was the bar with 70’s style small metallic looking round tables squeezed in. My starter of homemade scotch egg was bland and tasteless and looked as if a small child had made it! It was accompanied by large pile of salad leaves and carrot. The waiter brought a bottle of dressing which turned out to be vinegar. I had to ask for salt and pepper as the cruets hadn’t been laid on the tables. My main course was absolutely inedible: the asparagus was grey, slimy and probably from a tin. The broccoli was equally grey and dreadfully overcooked. The sweet potato mash was horriblel having been over spiced and the tiny fillet of farmed sea bass was soggy and unpleasant.

Breakfast was equally poor. How do you serve a grey sausage that has no caramelisation?

Definitely a hotel to avoid! This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel!

Pros:

We chose this spot since there was nothing available in inverness (due to a marathon) where we would have stayed to visit the highlands. The area outside is pretty but the hotel needs updates and renovations badly. The windows are in terrible shape and I think there was mold in the room we stayed. There was no thermostat for heating so it was either too hot or too cold with the system in the room. Also they need more staff. We like to give a shout out to Vijay who helped us during our stay with check in, showing our room, taking bar orders, and server breakfast. They had two other people on Saturday night and that's it while they had two large parties of people go were also staying as hotel guests.

Great!
Pros:

This castle is adorable. It's farther from Inverness than anticipated but nevertheless we enjoyed our stay. A few notes, the staff is SMALL. The daytime housekeepers double as evening bartenders and restaurant servers. The restaurant is quite good, but service is slow. The front desk lady is delightful and they made all efforts to accommodate our needs. (They rolled a cot into our room for our son, it was lumpy and uncomfortable but an extra mattress helped!) The room and bathroom and really the whole place is quirky and creaky like you'd expect, and walking the grounds was wonderful. It was essentially a B&B in an old mini-castle, and just what you'd want staying in ancient Scotland. (For a couple days, we wouldn't have wanted to stay there much longer.)

Pros:

It is a perfect drive to the Dunnrobin castle in the morning !We loved this stay but the dining room was an issue bc we had to reserve time slots to eat; also the food quality was ok; my burger was not good meat but i think a mix with meat; and the bread with my soup the first nite was white toast not homemade bread, yet 2 nd nite they had a hardy homemade bread with soup; also the meals forced you to have a 2 or 3 courses when we just wanted simple meal ; the bruchetta was horrible with loads of raw onions so they need a new bruchetta recipe i think. otherwise the room was nice and staff was nice!

Pros:

At first, this is a perfect hotel for a quiet stay in the highlands of Scotland! Just perfect, cozy, bucolic and inspiring country side castle hotel. The staff is friendly and accommodation is very clean. There is only one issue and that made me reduce the rating for 5 stars to 2 stars: the hotel staff required us to book a time slot for the breakfast and the only slot available: 7am on a Sunday easy going morning. Not sure if it is understaffed to accommodate all guests during usual weekend breakfast, bit just completely inconvenient for holidays.

Pros:

This property has so much potential if only some $ can be spent in updating it. The decor and fittings seems dates like from 1980s and please spend some $ on better bedding and pillows etc . So much potential but lost due to lack of investment

Pros:

The staff, room and hotel was very nice. But I have to say the prices for a hotel in the Highlands was London prices. Also we took breakfast with the room and when we checked out, and I checked the bill, they charged for herbal tea, this was never explained to us. The lady at the reception took this charge off.
