We just returned from our stay at the Hampton. We arrived late on the night we checked in and were met by Sally who was training a new employee. To start off she could not find our reservation, said we didn't have a room. Then she found it but it was for the next day. This was about 2 minutes to midnight. We had driven about 18 hours non-stop. She argued with us about our reservation, which was booked via Trivago. I had all the paperwork that our trip was paid for already. She said she could book us as a walk in and charged us $207.00 for the night. She was extremely rude, telling me to calm down, which I was not yelling or swearing, I was tired and confused. We finally got a room, a handicapped room that she put in the notes that we requested....NOT. It was okay except the water ran all over the floor since there was not a lip on the shower floor and when I went to take a shower the handle fell off in my hand. (it was fixed) The other thing Sally told us was that the 3rd parties credit card was declined and we had to pay $1300.00 dollars for a room I only paid $650.00 for. She held us at the desk for a good 45 minutes trying to get us in the computer and so on. In the morning the Manager was there and she did clear up the billing issue but we told her how Sally was extremely rude to us. She stated that Sally hardly checks people in and she wasn't familiar with the system, that she was the night auditor. So I asked why is she even allowed to be in customer service if this is known about her. Then upon check out we received a charge of $185.32. Sally was at the desk and saw us checking out. At breakfast that morning Sally was talking to the man setting it up and she was complaining about ANOTHER check in saying how awful another person was and how she put them in their place. So we get home and see this charge, call the hotel, they say it was the third party, called third party and they said it was indeed the hotel charge. So we figure Sally put in a bogus charge just to piss us off. The charge was reversed the same day but is still pending. We were very disappointed in our stay this time. We didn't need cleaning and the breakfast was great.

Location close to Amesbury and Newburyport. Dinning room very comfortable with very helpful staff.
Bathroom had ample layout space for toiletries etc. The hotel was kept very clean.

Great breakfast. The man doing the cleaning of the area did an excellent job.

DO NOT BOOK HERE!!!!!!!!
The manager kicked my elderly in-laws out when they were trying to check into the room they were booked for my wedding. The manager threatened to call the police on them for simply trying to get into there room that was booked by there daughter when she wasn't present. That caused the manager to cancel there room reservation and told them to leave. They were stranded and unable to fully enjoy our wedding. The manager completely ruined our wedding weekend and when we expressed to her that they were here from PA for there sons wedding, she didnt care. She needs to be fired immediately. Absolutely DO NOT stay here, sleep in your car first.

Staff is generally nice especially the breakfast supervisor. He was amazing and helpful.

Rooms are typical older Hampton Inn designs. They are currently being renovated. Location is near restaurants and coffee shops.
