Hotel Alamar

Although a fair distance from San Jose airport the location is nice.hotel staff is dedicated and customer oriented for sure.breakfast buffet was excellent and food for dinner very good.for what we paid for we got more than enough.

Noisy outside kitchen ventilation...made for stifling room temperature...friendly staff

Arrived rather late in the evening and only spent one night before the ferry ride next morning. Hotel was mostly closed but the night personnel were very helpful. When AC in room was not functioning they gave us another room. Rooms are spacious and ours had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool area. Beds adequate but not great. Best things were the location, beautiful old styling of the hotel with lovely wood and arches, and helpful and friendly staff. Location ideal as its on a quiet section of the beach boardwalk and directly in between the louder central tourist area and the busy ferry waiting area.

We had a room over the kitchen which was very very noisy. Avoid those rooms.
Otherwise, the hotel is great location and terrific helpful staff. Nice pool and only across the street from the beach.

Cerca de la playa con dos piscinas pequeñas pero lindas. Nuestro cuarto pegaba a la cocina del hotel entonces a las 4:30 de la mañana escuchabamos a los cocineros gritando y nos despertaron a todos y el wifi era pésimo pero a excepción de eso es una buena opción si quieres algo cerca del paseo de los turistas

This hotel is located on a very busy road. It is very old, needs a lot of updates.

The hotel was uncomfortable and dirty. The staff was very attentive and fixed broken lamps and other things in the room immediately. The beach was covered in trash and broken bottles, not just near the hotel, but across the entire Puntarenas peninsula. Don't go to the beach here!

Clean, comfortable hotel. The only problem was the Internet was not accessible in the room, and we were located on the third floor without an elevator. Hauling suitcases up 3 floors was difficult.

Nice stay overall. Good breakfast served each morning but needs a little more variation. Bed was comfortable, but the early morning workers each day are very loud which doesn't allow much sleeping past 6:00 AM. We would definitely return.

They offer a free breakfast every morning. It was ample. The view from my room was of the ocean.

Overall the stay was pleasant. They staff was nice and room Decent. However it def isn't a 4 or 5 star Hotel... they breakfast was the same everyday and it seems the place hasn't been spruced up in a bit . Overall I would give it a 3.5

It's location is excelent! You can enjoy the sea, the beach and the wind, it was wonderful.

The hot water in the bathroom barely got warm. There was bugs coming from several areas in my room. I had to leave my suitcase on the bed so no bugs will get in it. The breakfast was only eggs toast and coffee. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. This is the only hotel in Costa that I gave a bad review.

Hotel faciities are very nice, comfortable and clean. There is one medium size pool which is not under direct sun for most part of the day, which is a great advantage (specially if you're staying with kids). There's also a medium size jacuzzi. Rooms are great. Breakfast was delicious. Most of the staff was really nice, although I felt that they need someone taking care of the Bar area as you have to wait a bit for someone to come and take your order.
