The Elyton is a wonderful historic hotel in downtown Birmingham. My room was clean, comfortable, and highly functional. As someone who values a good workout, I was impressed by the fitness center; it was clean, efficient, and fully equipped for a complete dumbbell routine.
The entire staff was friendly and helpful, but I want to give a special shout-out to Zee and Jodi from Bali. They are the newest and friendliest members of the team—thank you both for your warm hospitality and excellent service! Highly recommended for a stay in the city.
The hotel itself was comfortable and served our purposes, but I am extremely disappointed by a billing error that has yet to be resolved. I used points to pay for my room and was charged a $72 "room fee". I emailed twice, called twice and spoke to concierge who assured me that a manager would call me back. Finally during one call, the manager happened to walk by and picked up the phone. He told me the charge was in fact in error and would refund me immediately. That was 10 days ago and I have yet to be refunded. I will likely need to call my credit card company to deal with this error, but extremely disappointed by the fact that I was charged in error AND the hotel is making it extremely difficult to be refunded. Please if you stay here, check your bill immediately and make sure it is resolved immediately.
Beautiful hotel! Great location and everyone was super lovely!
The pet fee wasn’t disclosed and when we checked out it was very steep. The cost of the pet fee was more than the nights stay ($200 for 1 pet and an additional $50USD) for a second.
10/10 service and etc , will be back to visit soon I loved the stay!!
The staff at the Elyton are all so friendly and helpful. The valet staff are top notch (shout out to TJ for getting our car so quickly after requesting it). I have stayed here multiple times and look forward to returning soon.
TJ was a perfect valet. Kind, fast, and great communicator.
Great experience! Very friendly and warm person.
RJ was great! Very sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bbb
So good and wonderful best thing ever
Not only was the front desk so kind but TJ with valet was incredible and always had my vehicle ready in a timely fashion no matter how busy.
the youngman that helped me in the valet was a vsry respectful and patient witu me and my family.
I recently stayed at this hotel for business purposes and found it to be a solid choice for work-related travel. The check-in process was efficient and the front desk agent Tara was very professional and courteous throughout my stay. The room was clean, well maintained and equipped with essential amenities, including a reliable workspace and strong Wi-fi connection, which made it easy to stay productive. The valet Melissa was the best she was highly organized and quick under pressure weather it's busy check-out rush she's a very skilled valet she kept calm, moved efficiently, and kept the wait times as short as possible without sacrificing servive quality.Overall, this hotel offers good value for business travelers seeking comfort, convenience, and a dependable valet service.I would consider staying here again for future trips.
I was in Birmingham for an athletic event and spent four nights at The Elyton. I travel frequently, and was disappointed — this hotel is not up to usual Marriott/Autograph standards and room quality did not match the price.
The hotel is in an older building which has been somewhat updated. It’s a large and tall building, and has many guests, but only one very very slow, elevator was operational. I made the trek up and down 10 flights of stairs more than once to avoid waiting. Rooms are pretty cramped and feel a bit shabby. Chicken wire glass on windows, drafty, no desks, no proper bathroom (shower and toilet tucked into hallway with separate, small, vanity.).
Bring your own hair dryer! I planned to use the dryer at the hotel, but one in room didn’t work, so the staff brought a second one with only one plug prong, then a third that didn’t turn on, then, finally, a fourth that finally worked. Also, my bathroom had no soap at the vanity, so requested from front desk. Not a big deal, but just another thing. Staff was nice enough and responsive to these issues.
Check in was also a bit frustrating. I initially booked for three nights but then, before traveling to Birmingham, added a fourth night to the beginning of the trip. Upon check in, the front desk assured me that I would be in same room all four nights, but then coded my key for only one night so I was locked out on day 2. Which would have been okay but for the elevator issues.
All in all, not terrible, but definitely not worth the money. I had friends in town at the same time, staying in the Spring Hill Suites a few blocks away and I will stay there next time — it is newer, more spacious, less expensive, and in a more convenient location for me.
I recently stayed at the Elyton Hotel for the first time, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The staff truly made my visit memorable. Latara, Austin, Khadija, Carol, and Chandlar each provided outstanding service marked by genuine warmth, attentiveness, and professionalism.
I also want to recognize the valet team, notably, Melissa, and the servers at The Yard Restaurant—Akeino and Daniel. Their hospitality elevated every interaction, from arrival to dining.
As a Platinum member and a meeting planner who travels frequently and evaluates hotels for group programs, I pay close attention to service, consistency, and guest experience. The Elyton exceeded expectations in all areas! I would confidently recommend this property to my colleagues and to the groups I support.
Thank you to the entire team for a wonderful stay. I look forward to returning in the near future.
