Directions from JR Shin-Okubo Station:
- At the exit of the station, turn left into Okubo-dori street, and walk for about 328 feet.
- At the corner of the super market next to Tokyo Plaza Hotel, turn right.
- Walk straight on for about 262 feet, until you see the Shin Okubo Sekitei on the right side of the street.
-- The property looks out on a narrow side-street, which branches off from the main street. This side-street might be a bit hard to find for a first-time guest. We strongly recommend printing out the map or the pictures in this page in advance.

Pros:

La gentillesse de la famille qui tient l'hôtel, le calme de la rue, la proximité avec 2 stations de JR et de la gare de shinjuku. Plein de petits commerces à deux pas. La possibilité de laver son linge.

A comfortable stay in the heart of Tokyo.
Pros:

We had the best time. The classic style is charming for western guests, and we were shocked by the amount of room we had. We slept well on the futons on the tatami, and had lovely chats with the staff every day. It is likely we will return.

In spite of shin okubo being a bit rowdy, the location was remarkably peaceful, and just minutes to both the yamanote and chuo lines. It’s a miracle or a location.

Cons:

These are extremely minor notes but:

For those not prepared for traditional rooms, the wood treating smell isn’t always something we are accustomed to.

There were some scrapes and minor damages that show the age of the property. I don’t think this is a problem, but just something we noted

Pros:

With ~ $120/ night in Tokyo, that better than you thought you can get. the hotel very close to the station. You only need to walk 10 mins. And that hotel close to main street where have all the food - restaurant that you need. Staff so friendly. Hight recommend

Perfect stay, as always.
Pros:

The fact that this is our third time staying here in two years really says everything about how much we enjoy this place. We stayed here twice in 2024 and came back again on this trip because it’s consistently been a great experience.

The location is perfect—very convenient and close to the Yamanote Line, which makes getting around Tokyo incredibly easy. The area also feels very safe, which we always appreciate when traveling.

Overall, it’s a reliable and comfortable place to stay, and we would definitely come back again on future trips.

Great first stay in Tokyo
Pros:

Excellent location.
Shin Okubo station is within walking distance. Lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby.
Clean towels provided each day and fresh bedding.
Staff were very friendly and helped us forward our luggage onto Kyoto.
Coin laundry on fourth floor

Cons:

Could benefit from a little TLC but considering cost and location can’t complain too much
