Location and grounds were beautiful. Overall well kept. Dead flowers under our entrance stairwell all week. Housekeeping was forgetful (ran out of toilet paper; ran out of coffee, sugar etc). Room was clean and spotless. Food was very good as were drinks and cocktails. Service in restaurant was very good although a little impersonal and cold. We had stayed in a hotel nearby the previous week and the warmth and hospitality there was a stark contrast to our experience here. Be ready to climb 181 steps every day but if you are in good shape it is worth it.
We stayed at Villa Mahal for our baby moon, the whole experience was wonderful with friendly and attentive staff, beautiful rooms and amazing views. Having a large private pool was also a huge bonus. 10/10 recommend!

It’s just amazing the view is so magical the staff are are friendly
A wonderfully relaxing time at Villa Mahal - a fabulous cliff side setting with stunning views from every vantage point. We were very satisfied with every aspect - it felt very intimate with just a handful of guest rooms - nicely furnished with good amenities and stylish decor with traditional touches. The staff were superb and a credit to the management. A very high staff to guest ratio; genuinely welcoming, friendly and authentic service from everyone. Thank you for a unforgettable holiday!

This is a good-looking, fabulous hotel made more exceptional by the staff. The infinity pool is beautiful, the sea front platforms are dramatic and the bar & restaurant, chill out area and private beach are quirky and well finished. The food is generally delicious and fresh, drinks are as expected, but the beach and dinner service by the day and evening staff is the standout feature of this hotel - difficult to relay how exceptional they are, other than if I had a hotel or restaurant I’d offer them all jobs, especially Altan - superstar.
Negatives - not many really, the steps you will have read about already, if you are in the cheaper rooms there are a LOT of steps to navigate every day, be warned, they are hard work in 30+ heat.
Room 106 is one to avoid unless you like a terrace that joins to the breakfast area, the least private of all of the rooms.
The term ‘adult only’ is a little misleading, it’s 12+ and there were a few younger kids in residence when we were there & the beach club part of the hotel (which shares most of the sea platforms and sea area) allows kids, so be prepared if it isn’t your thing.
Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, very, very relaxing.
Boutique hotel at its best. Fabulous setting. Very romantic. Amazing breakfasts. But not for anyone with a disability as there are a lot of steps.
We had a wonderful stay at the Villa Mahal. The staff are lovely and the views are stunning wherever you are. We didn’t want to leave!
250 steps from top to bottom but always worth the climb. Comfortable sun beds, magnificent swimming and a bar/restaurant worth 5 stars
Wow....all I can say that I will be back. Totally worth the money ... you get what you pay for. Food is outstanding along with the rooms and view. The arranged our balloon ride. Be sure to book early!!! Pro tip... rent a car to explore the area. I used avis at the airport.
