Novotel Phuket City Phokeethra Hotel

⭐️ Very disappointing review – avoid at all costs

I stayed at the Novotel Phuket City Phokeethra and my experience was extremely poor.

Upon arrival, I left a €108 security deposit, which was never refunded. Despite sending several emails to the hotel, I received no response. I also tried contacting Accor's WhatsApp support, again without any reply. Faced with this complete silence, I am now forced to go to the police station and the government website to report what I consider to be dishonest behavior.

In addition to this serious problem, the hotel's cleanliness was unacceptable for an establishment of this standard. My room was dirty, with sauce and food stains on the furniture. This is simply unacceptable.

Another shocking point: I was charged €75 to wash just one kilo of clothes, which is completely excessive and has never happened to me in any other hotel, even high-end ones.

In short, between the non-refundable deposit, the total lack of communication, the filth, and the exorbitant prices, this hotel is absolutely not worth it. I strongly advise against staying there.

We loved everything about this hotel. It is physically beautiful with incredible amenities. We stayed in over a dozen hotels on this trip and the breakfast here was easily the most impressive.

I’m honestly shocked that this hotel has good reviews. The only good part of my review goes to the staff. They were all friendly and helpful and they went out of their way to give us a little cake and made swans with towels on the bed and put flower petals down to say happy honeymoon to me and my husband. That was very thoughtful. My review is solely on the quality of this hotel and feeling misled. They advertise as a 5 star hotel. There is NO WAY this is a 5 star hotel. They have only soap and shampoo in the bathroom, they don’t offer conditioner. Even motels have conditioner. The towel had a blood stain on it. The floors and cabinets look dirty and old. The bed is so cheap and uncomfortable and so is the linen. They only have a kettle and instant coffee. The curations have holes in them. The walls have stains. Honestly this hotel is 3 stars at best. I wouldn’t be so surprised if they advertised it as a lower star hotel. Just disappointed.

When we first arrived at the hotel we were disappointed to learn that the pool was closed for renovations, especially travelling with an 11yo for her 12th bday. However one of the team, Maimoon, promptly took control of the situation and did everything that she could to ensure that our special trip was exactly that, special.
(We should note that they did have an alternative pool available at a hotel a short walk down the block).
We were taken care of so well, my daughter was spoiled with cakes on her birthday and her favourite meal for dinner.
We each experienced the in-house spa services and all agree that they are the best that we have ever had.
Bryan was also pivotal in ensuring that our stay was flawless.
The buffet breakfast again, is one of the best that all of us have experienced, truly catering to all dietary requirements and flavour profiles that you could possibly ask for.
The rooms were spacious and clean, making for a very comfortable stay also.
Beyond the highlights of the hotel itself, the location is incredible. Walking distance to Old Town Phuket, supermarkets, pharmacy, cash exchange and anything else you could ask for.
Bryan, Maimoon and the team are also excellent for providing recommendations for places to eat, visit, shop, etc, all with local knowledge.
We will absolutely be returning to this hotel again, and can genuinely put it down to the outstanding service provided by both Bryan and Maimoon, and their team.
Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, on all fronts.

We had an incredible stay at Novotel Phuket City Phokeethra. The team was so welcoming, and everything from check-in to check-out was perfect. It was the ideal way to end our honeymoon — relaxing, elegant, and memorable. Highly recommend!

We stayed at Novotel with our family of eight and had four rooms booked. The hotel’s location is definitely convenient — close to Old Town and surrounded by plenty of good spas and local eateries. Unfortunately, that’s where the advantage ends. The rooms felt dated and poorly maintained for the price point. Floors were creaky, and overall upkeep left much to be desired.

While the staff at reception were polite and accommodating, and housekeeping did help us heat milk for the kids late at night (which we appreciated), the overall cleaning process seemed hurried and not very thorough. Breakfast was adequate with a fair variety, but nothing particularly memorable or worth mentioning.

For a brand like Novotel, we expected better attention to detail, cleanliness, and comfort. Sadly, it turned out to be a very average stay. We wouldn’t choose to come back or recommend it to others.

No3 on our Phuket trip this was only a few days stop over before we headed up north off Phuket , good hotel good room restaurant was ok but good views , its a good hotel to get around the city , great staff .

Pool was empty when we used it and it was nice a relaxing. Staff were friendly and attentive

I had planned many times to wander the streets of Phuket Town, but usually something else came up and I rushed straight to the beaches. This time I was traveling with a friend, who was visiting Thailand for the first time, and we chose Novotel Phuket City Phokeethra as a break from the beaches.

On the day of arrival, I received an email saying our room had been upgraded. I asked - one bed or two. The manager, Ms. Saowanee Bobthong (Tar), replied that it was one, but we needed two. The extra bed was arranged quickly and everything was ready when we arrived. Quick email responses are rare - and this is worth noting.

It was also interesting to watch airline crews staying here. Their morning routines in the lobby give the hotel a special rhythm - unobtrusive but lively.

Breakfast was as expected in a Novotel - you can pick what you like. The green curry stood out - absolutely delicious. There’s even a tofu version if you’re vegan.

Before leaving, the hotel manager came over. A young man - one of the youngest managers I’ve met in this role, but he had fire in his eyes. You can see he loves his work: he talks to guests, collects feedback, checks if everything is okay.

After the trip in autumn 2024, I wanted to return, but plans changed. I hope I get to come back here.

The stay was wonderful! Location was a huge plus. Neat clean rooms and warm Thai hospitality. The chef at breakfast (chef Josh) was especially accommodating for vegan food and allergies and the staff Nate Pat and Fern were attentive and friendly. Thanks so much team. Be back soon!

Nice for front desk service. Upgrade the room with balcony. And the room is cozy and clean. The location is good to old town and is quiet at night

Liked the closeness to Phuket old town.
Didn't like the pool are(nothing like the photos depicted),the breakfast was average at best. If you are going to stay here(I wouldn't recommend it)make sure you pay the deposit in cash, as I am still waiting for mine to be refunded back to me(paid by card), hotel reception said could take up to 30 working days to be refunded back to me which is absolutely ridiculous.
Promised us a breakfast box as checking out early, took us 3 attempts at different times of the previous day to get this organised.

Great location close to many attractions and staff are very friendly especially Maimun , Ging, Pat and Sien ,,clean room and good breakfast

Swimming pool was clean and nice although bit small.
Spa was fantastic.
View from the hotel is also very good.
Roof top bar is breathtaking.
I wish to stay longer since it was a very nice experience.

The room was clean and fragrant, the facilities were complete, the staff were polite and helpful, the food was delicious, the location was convenient and close to tourist attractions. It was a very impressive experience.

My little family and I have visited the hotels rooftop bar and restaurant many times as we are locals in Phuket, but this was the first time we treated ourselves to enjoy a night and breakfast here.
As we expected our time there was super lovely, the staff in every position of the hotel are so nice and friendly, our room was perfect and more than we hoped for and a little surprise for my daughter there is now a cool play area for kids 🙂
