Helpfull staff and nice rooms
Pros:

We had a very pleasent stay here. The staff were very nice and helpful, and the rooms very clean and nice.

Overall we had a good time here.

Pros:

We arrived quite late at the hotel for check in but the owner was so kind and accommodating. She also gave us many last minute tips on how to find the best tour to the caves and made it possible for us to wash our clothes "last minute style". It came back dry and folded only 7 hours later which was very convenient. They even kindly made it possible for us to take a hot shower after arriving back to grab our luggage from a very rainy motorbike tour. We couldn't have been more greatful. Wonderful people!

Super Unterkunft aber mit starkem
Pros:

Das Hotel liegt sehr günstig in der Mitte der Stadt. Die Zimmer sind gut ausgestattet, sauber, gepflegt und ruhig.

Cons:

Wie überall in der Stadt, wurden uns auch hier etwas überengagiert Angebote für Touren, Transport oder spätere Unterkünfte immer wieder unterbreitet..
Die Kayak-Tour, die wir hier buchten, war aber wirklich gut und vermutlich auch dieselbe, wie man sie überall zum selben Preis bekommen hatte.

Pros:

The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to lots or restaurants located in the town .
Clean rooms comfortable bed good AC and very hot water !
The staff Dan and Thuy are very helpful 😊
It was also a great location for our bus as it dropped us at the door .

Good price, but poor maintenance and disappointing experience
Pros:

The price was very affordable, and having a pool table was a nice bonus.

Cons:

Unfortunately, there were many maintenance and cleanliness issues during our stay.
The swimming pool was very dirty and not inviting at all, and looked quite different from the photos. In our room, the shower faucet was broken and was not repaired, the faucet next to the toilet was also broken, and there was a broken chair.
The worst incident was when a pipe in the bathroom burst and flooded our room.
Breakfast was very basic, although this is understandable considering the low price. Surprisingly, there was not even drinking water available at breakfast.
Another issue was the pressure from reception to book tours and activities through them. We found this uncomfortable, especially because some of the information we received was not accurate and even misleading.
Overall, the low price is attractive, but the poor maintenance, dirty pool and problems we experienced made the stay disappointing.

Accommodatie is op zich ok, personeel is onplezierig en is alleen maar uit op geld

Cons:

Personeel was opdringerig en wilde continue ons allerlei activiteiten verkopen, zelfs ook voor andere plaatsen waar we nog niet geweest waren. Voor bezoek aan de grot Phong Nah via de accommodatie, bleek achteraf dat we veel te veel hadden betaald, en waren feitelijk opgelicht. Dit is na een gesprek met de bedrijfsleider wel weer enigszins gecompenseerd en er zijn excuses voor gemaakt… het wantrouwen bleef

Wonderful Hotel & Owners

Thuong Hai Hotel Phong Nha
Wonderful family run hotel. Owner was extremely helpful with celebration. Great pool, great location, great breakfast.
We entered the hotel via the basement/garage and it initially felt a bit dark and strange. We were soon greeted by the owner and she lead us up to the correct reception. The stairs outside looked more like a tour operator office but we learnt this is very common in Vietnam.
The owner was so lovely and she helped me surprise my wife with an anniversary celebration. She organised a day trip for us so she could decorate our room and organised flowers, a cake and some wine for us while we were out.
My wife was suitably impressed when we walked back in and the owner really helped make our day.
The hotel has a lovely pool and we were given recommendations for restaurants, one of which we tried and was fantastic.
The hotel has 2 x upper levels for great views, some games and a breakfast/bar area.
Breakfast was wonderful with a simple menu that seemed to cater for most tastes and regions/cultures.

Pros:

Nice balcony with great view.
Very good location!

Cons:

First of all, though the bathroom looked okay, it happened twice that there was no water. It happened once while one of us was pooping, so the room started to smell bad. Also the staff never apologised or even told us the water was going to turn off. The receptionist told us once it would take 10 minutes but it took another hour.
Secondly, the water that came out of the shower and sink occasionally smelled horrible and was probably also very unhygienic.
To conclude we were not able to pay by card even though it is stated you can. We had to use all of the cash we had left to pay.

If you want a mediocre stay, come here. The beds are fine and if you leave your key in the room, you can leave the airconditioning on so the room will also have a pretty good temp.
