The room
No staff on duty, never saw a hotel employee.
The coffey station in the main lobby was a mess, never attended the whole time of our stay. Never
heard of a hotel closed on Monday.
Didn’t eat breakfast. No restaurant available
I didn’t like that the door had a visible open crack in the door. I felt like someone could see into the room. I felt very insecure.
The staff were increadable!
Nothing
Good beds, clean room and bathroom, quiet doors that don't slam behind you when you leave and bother other guests. these are the three most important things to a touring musician and this hotel gets high marks and all the above. Cool old-timey Colorado vintage mining atmosphere complete my new favorite elevator of all time. Keyless entry is nice because you can't lose your room key, or it just stops working like so many other hotels.
Check in was rather involved with a lot of automated texts for several days. I realize that this is just good service, but it got kind of annoying. You don't get your room code until just before you check in so be ready for that. I wasn't.
It was beautiful and so well maintained
Nothing
This is a grand old hotel that has been sensitively brought up to modern requirements.
Mid May was early season for Victor/Cripple Creek, so services were not always available.
The resturant is small, attached to the bar. They are hiring staff and had a new bartender, who is also serving as a room attendant. Even though the restaurant is small and not yet staffed fully, they served a limited menu which was good, simple food. They worked very hard to make our stay comfortable. When fully staffed it should be wonderful. They are also renovating, which will has already made improvements such as secure, keyless entry, microwave, coffee/tea in each room. The historical architecture is beautiful, and if you're looking for brand new, fancy, boring accomodations, this is not the hotel for you.
Windows need to be easier to open, they are very heavy and we had to use a shoe to wedge the window open for cool night air.
The very loud, crude handiman drinking and smoking right outside the door to the bar (which opens right into the hotel). Also, with the thin walls, he was hard not to hear. Seemed like a nice guy, just needs to tone it way down (he was also very loud when helping in the bar).
L'hôtel historique et confortable.
Le manque total d'accueil. Personne pour réceptionner.
The beds were decently comfortable, the self check in was easy, and location in the town was good. Aside from that I can't say many other good things.
Our biggest complaint was how freaking hot the room was. It sat at about 78 most of the night. Made it almost impossible to sleep. Finally got the window opened and it helped a bit but still very warm. Could hear an air conditioning unit outside our window but it must not have been for our room. The hall way was very comfortable temperature but we couldn't leave the door open all night. TV in the room would not turn off so we eventually had to unplug it to not have it on. They only provided a single sheet as the blanket (probably because it's so hot in the room). Although the self check in was nice there was not staff on site that we saw the whole time. When I texted the number about how hot it was, no one ever responded but its written everywhere to call or text with any issues. Also, wanted to refill my water bottle from the water dispenser in the lobby but it was broken. I was excited to stay in a charming hotel but it was just not well maintained overall and because of that lost its charm. Very Unfortunate!
Room was nice
We requested clean towels and wash cloths twice. Staff never brought them. We ended up using the same towels for the 3 days we stayed.
The architecture and choice of decor.
Being able to self check in after hours.
Restaurant in the building was nice.
Nothing, all was good.
it was clean
they had a huge Very loud party both nights in the lobby for a quiet town they sure had a obnoxious party going on… the owner offered a free breakfast but we had already had other plans maybe they will refund one night??
My reservation was canceled due to a water break. They said I would be refunded within 10 days. It's been well over 10 days and I still haven't received my reimbursement
It's a stunning historical hotel in the mountains of Colorado, just a few minutes from Cripple Creek. The staff were upbeat & friendly, room was IMMACULATE & there were many historical photos & decorations. The very coolest part was the antique, working elevator. Gorgeous & very cool to experience!
