A bit wary about staying in Travelodge as have stayed in a couple of ropey ones -mainly down south. Would normally go for Premier inn but the positive reviews and cheap price was too hard to resist. The hotel itself was clean and easily accessible and with the added bonus of an on-site car park in the town centre - 10 minute walk to all amenities. The room was clean and comfortable albeit a bit of a trek from reception. The only down point was that I mistakenly booked the wrong day but quickly amended it to the day before but was charged £12,50 for this privilege but otherwise would recommend this hotel
Excellent location close to the sites and experiences of the city centre. A very welcoming and friendly staff team, particularly Olivia on reception, made our stay
Car park is tight. Warm welcome. Room was in extension so quite a way from reception but it was quiet. Standards you expect from Travelodge. On return after our night out we saw a poster for pizza. We were greeted by a young lady who was very helpful and cheerful. We ordered pizza and whilst waiting we were looking at the breakfast menu. The young lady was telling us about the breakfast and that it was a proper hot buffet, all you can eat. We decided to go for it. After a good night sleep we enjoyed our breakfast. On checking out we told the manager that he should never let the young lady leave and he advised us her name was Demi, so thank you Demi x
Stayed with mates for a stag weekend the pizza deal late at night is great and bar open till the late hours breakfast in morning was the perfect cure for the night before drinks in town thanks to demi for looking after us
We stayed over the weekend as part of a cheerleading group thank you to all the staff for looking after us I'm impressed with the security protocols they have in place for guests and to the older guy on bar thanks for serving us all with our food and drink orders.
came to newcastle for night out in town with friends amazing city stayed at travelodge amazing hotel nice and clean great food and drinks staff are amazing massive shout out to night staff on firday night will defo be back please thank the staff on friday night
While I appreciate that not all guests are dog owners, if a hotel advertises itself as pet friendly, it should consider the practical needs that come with that. We were placed in one of the rooms furthest from the entrance, which made things quite difficult, especially as dogs need easy access outside for comfort breaks, particularly first thing in the morning and last thing at night. This made our stay unnecessarily uncomfortable.
Additionally, staffing levels appeared to be very low. At times, there seemed to be only one staff member covering multiple roles, checking guests in, serving, and clearing tables in the restaurant. As a result, food and drink orders were delayed or missed entirely and had to be chased. The limited capacity also impacted cleanliness in the dining area.
Overall, the experience fell short of expectations, particularly given the hotel’s pet friendly positioning.
I stayed in Newcastle Central Travelodge for 1 night last weekend and it was the most unpleasant stay that I’ve ever experienced. I can safely say that I won’t be back!
On arrival we were checked in by Zoe, who I must say is an asset to Travelodge. She was Friendly, Helpful and Professional.
We were assigned to room number 076 (3rd Floor). When we entered the room it was very clear that this room had NOT been cleaned. The Bed wasn’t made properly, there was dust literally everywhere, the Carpet had massive stains all over it and there was Faeces down the Toilet. Absolutely vile! The Toilet Seat was also covered in stains and the Toilet Bowl was thick with Mould. Photographs attached.
I returned to Reception, I was absolutely mortified! Again we spoke with Zoe, who was extremely apologetic and immediately assigned us another room. Room 091 (3rd Floor).
On entering Room 091 (3rd Floor), this room was visibly cleaner, until we pulled back the Bedding, to reveal a Brown Stain which looked like Faeces on the Bed Sheet. By this point we were beyond mortified.
I reminded myself that I had paid £99.99 for this 1 night stay and was not willing to lie in a bed that was in this condition. I called Reception from the Room and explained the situation. I confirmed that this room was cleaner (except for the Sheet) and asked if it would be possible for someone to attend the room to change the Bed Sheet. I was advised by the Male Staff Member at Reception that “it would be easier to change rooms”. So, for a second time, we returned to Reception.
The 3rd Room that we were assigned was Room 200 (Ground Floor). This Room was clean and spacious. However, we did notice that the Window was open and there was an extremely loud noise like a Fan/Generator. We tried closing the Window, but the noise was still extremely loud/disturbing. We had hoped that this would quieten down in the Evening, however this was not the case, it went on all night. There was also a loud thudding/banging noise throughout our stay.
We went out in the Evening and returned to the Hotel around 11pm and used our Keycard to enter. We were greeted by a Male Security Guard who asked the Name on the Booking and the Room Number. We confirmed the details. I feel this is a really good safety precaution, which I think should be done across all Travelodge Hotels.
Between the hours of 1:30am-6am we were kept awake by groups of Intoxicated persons aged around 18-20 years old. I had hoped that with us being on the Ground Floor, there being Security and Cameras throughout the building that Security would have attended to ask these persons to return to their Rooms, but this wasn’t the case.
When we got up to get ready in the morning there was a horrendous smell of Sewage in the Bathroom. This definitely needs investigation, as there are clear underlying problems.
All in all, I am highly disappointed with this experience. We returned home absolutely exhausted. We had a long Car journey to get to the Hotel and were unable to rest/enjoy our stay and then had to do another long journey home.
I have been a loyal Customer of Travelodge for over 15 years and never had any issues like this before. It’s certainly not the normal Travelodge standard and most definitely not worth £99.99.
I have raised the issues with “Customer Services”, but have not received a reasonable resolution.
My sister and I found the whole stay very relaxing, the bar in the evening was quiet to have a coffee after returning from the city centre.
The room was clean, the beds comfy. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Natalie who allowed us to keep our luggage in the reception until we were ready to go for our train home.
Much appreciated since we had shopping to do!
A very warm welcome from Zoe and Winnie who sorted out my disabled parking and my room allocation due to a mix up..
Thank you for making me feel welcome to Newcastle.
Quite central for us and just a stone's throw from the Glasshouse, across the Blinking Eye bridge. Also just a 15 min walk from the Biscuit Factory gallery and cafe. Parking on site, too.
We were late getting there so ate on the restaurant there. Very good value for money and we will certainly use it again. The stone baked pizzas were very good, surpassing our expectations.
The rooms are always clean, sufficient for somewhere to kip after a night out.
Had a great experience as Will helped to arrange our booking quickly and conveniently :)
lovely stay staff fantastic sorting the parking app for me food nice and hot thanks to winni and macolm for all you lr help
The Travelodge is in a good location a couple of mins from the quayside and has a carpark (chargeable) underneath. Room was ok, fairly quiet. It was a little bit dated but functional and ok for one night. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was ok but limited if you need GF. I thought it was quite expensive for a one night stay but I guess you are paying for the location.
Home from home after unfortunate gas meter blow up!!
... staff all very helpful& friendly - Reception Housekeeping, Management, thank you!!
Amazing location! So close to all the best views, bars & restaurant. Karli on reception is a credit to the company, so friendly, polite and more than happy to go out of her way for your needs! I’ll be back
Went to the bar and was served by Ava amazing service, she was so friendly and answered all my questions about the menu, and staff are so friendly, would recommend.
Have never seen travelodge decorated so nicely and the staff be so friendly! The young boy at the bar Will was really funny and friendly he bought my husband a nice cold glass of water he couldn’t handle the hot wings but he said they were worth the pain😅😅 . We will def be returning next time we come up north!!
All good but room smelt of cigarette smoke, not the normal standard for Travelodge. Everything else was good quality and good value.
Ordered last minute and when I mean last minute, arrived at the hotel to check in, had some difficulties but that was from my end due to a dead phone. The reception staff (David,Reagan and Dan) were all absolutely amazing help and had a nice conversation with them whilst getting booked in. Process was fast and professional they really made me enjoy my visit here. The hotel room is clean, surprisingly big, tidy and comfortable. You can’t fault this not 1 bit, amazing work! thank you.
