We drive by Williamsport several times a year. This time, we needed to stop for the night and decided to book the City Hall Grand Hotel because it looked interesting and different. I am so glad we did! Very unique rooms with history all around! Also, modern bathroom... All was clean and comfortable. Restaurant and pub on the lower level a definite bonus as we arrived later in the evening. There were also lounges available within the hotel. Williamsport proved to be a walkable little city with plenty of tree-lined sidewalks, coffee and book shops, and unique stores, murals, and historical markers.
NA
The mostly original decor. Access to restaurant. Comfortable.
No fridge
Location, bed, and was very clean. Staff were amazing. Very nice people, just did not like the design of the room.
Shower head is a rain style which I hated. Did not like having no door for shower area. Did not like barndoor slider in bathroom which did not seal against the wall.. I like privacy for both, and would not have stayed there if would have known.
This historic hotel was lovingly and creatively restored . The owner, Sandy, was very receptive. I liked the fact I could stick up in the coffee pods and creamer as needed. The spaciousness of the room was great since we were there four nights.
Have stayed here before because Location was great for our needs and the space suitable for three people. Great value for a great room. Staff at the lounge was friendly, prices were reasonable. Would return again, but on an upper floor for a different experience!
Still not wild about the barn door set up, which limits privacy in a room being shared by three people. A shower door or more glass would also improve the experience.
Have yet to learn where and when breakfast is offered.
Streaming services are inaccessible, which was unclear per the Direct TV set up, and a shame as basic cable has little to offer.
The location and the themed rooms!!
Everything was great!!
Beautiful history and close to walk
The bell tower tolled but stopped at 10 pm
What an amazing hotel! We stayed in the Twain room, which was amazing, however, there was no charging or outlets next to the bed. While we understand that this is a historic building, there has to be a way to get a charging station closer to the bed. We will definitely be back to try a different room. :)
The bed was comfortable.
Overall the Lumber room was cool for its historic value it brings to downtown Williamsport, however the layout of the bedroom left much to be desired. There is no definite bathroom. The shower is in one corner that leaked onto the main floor making it slippery and vastly unsafe. The toilet is isolated, and the sink is in yet a third location. The shower could also use some shelving for those bring their own toiletries. There was also a real lack of storage space for belongings. Anyone trying to have an extended stay would have no choice but to live out of your suitcase.
The property was unique, beautiful and well maintained. Parking and access were easy. Convenient access to restaurants, venues, shopping etc.
The bed was firmer than is comfortable for us.
Such an interesting hotel with funky rooms. Huge rooms very well appointed. Best money we spent on a 17 day trip to USA in 7 location’s. Try it you won’t be disappointed. We stayed in the fireman suite. Bar and restaurant behind the hotel is really nice with fab staff.
Nothing.
Great repurposed building, very interesting, well decorated, very clean and very comfortable bed. Great location for visiting PCT, and walkable to local shops, restaurants. Good value for price. Free parking was a nice perk too.
Didn't like the absence of a human being on the premises. Signage was poor/confusing inside, outside it was hard to find the "north entrance"; better/more lighting is needed to see where to go and to provide sense of safety, especially when arriving at night and in a dark, unlit parking lot.
No water was provided in the room and there was no obvious place to purchase it, which lead to a hunt for the ONE vending machine, finally located on a seemingly empty/unoccupied and creepy-feeling upper floor. Additionally infuriating too was being unable to purchase water because the ONLY MACHINE did not take cards, furthering irritation there was no one on site to ask for assistance.
Hotel information, i.e. wifi availability and password was not obviously available; the "binder" which contained such information was unmarked on the outside and placed on a high shelf next to a bible, which was out of sight.
Lastly - shower rooms and sliding barn doors look great in theory; in practice they are ridiculous and messy. And when sharing a room with another person, with only one door to use, who wants to choose between privacy in the shower or on the toilet? Is an additional door for the toilet and more glass to contain shower spray really a lot to ask for?
Centrally located.
Since there is no front desk, everything was handled electronically. I was especially not happy that I had to fill out a waiver form.
What a fabulous place to stay! The rooms are very clean and everything is so comfortable. I love the European drains in the floors of the shower/sink room. Very efficient and easily cleaned. The pillows were wonderful and the lounge area with the coffee bar was fantastic.
Nothing! And I mean that! Except I did see one of the cleaning staff when I arrived who could not have been lovelier! She was so sweet and helpful Would like to see someone on staff occasionally who is that great!
