Good value, comfortable, nice staff but worse than average cooked breakfast
Pros:

I was very impressed by the large and comfortable room that we were given, and the fact that it was so so quiet despite being in the centre of a busy city. The room had a good temperature control and it was easy to operate the shower which showed exactly which way to turn in order to get more water and hot water something that is often lacking. When we had an issue in the bathroom the staff were quick to be able to assist.

Cons:

the standard cooked breakfast, was pretty poor. My food arrived lukewarm on two of the three days that I was there, the sausage was the cheapest nastiest discount item I have seen and didn't have any relationship with meat. I'd asked for warm plates but really not arrive that way. There's a sign asking you to wait outside to be seated at the restaurant but you could wait all day and nobody would come so you basically seat yourself. the buffet breakfast for those who want fruit and cereals was poorly stocked and it was only after we intervened to ask for it to be restocked there's an acceptable level of choice was brought.

Would probably stay again
Pros:

Good location, staff were really friendly and helpful, breakfast was really pretty good.
Overall great value for money. The room itself was lovely and warm.

Cons:

Was a bit tired looking, and a bit whiffy in the communal areas as we made our way downstairs to our room. The bathroom was very cold with the wall hung toilet being far too high up on the wall for us shorties!

Staff were fab, food was lush, overall good stay
Pros:

Staff were absolutely lovely and made me feel very welcome. The hotel itself was clean, breakfast was nice and the room service food was amazing too. Check in and out was quick! In terms of being looked after you couldn't ask for more, really. The location was super close to my uni building so the trek wasn't bad. There's also a shop not far away for water/snacks etc. Restaurant was clean and felt nice to sit in.

Cons:

The building. It is old and creaky, very creaky. You can hear everyone above you moving above and it can get quite loud. But that can't really be helped due to the age of the building itself. Decor is dated, as are the bedrooms, and whilst clean, the mattresses could do with being replaced, and maybe more than one pillow. Only other thing I can think of are the white lights used in the main bedroom, maybe switch to warmer white so it's less glaring in your eyes/less clinical (that could also just be personal preference)

Very happy and would recommend it as a good value for money hotel.
Pros:

Very friendly and good value for money

Cons:

Our room overlooking the road was a bit noisy which did not bother me much but a light sleeper might want to request a different part of the building.

Perfect trip away
Pros:

We stayed at The Rutland Hotel whilst visiting our daughter at uni and the location was just perfect. You do have to pay for the on site parking though, but nothing is too much trouble for the brilliant team there. We asked for a quiet room and Alison on reception made the switch for us, and even checked to make sure it was ok, which was a nice touch. The room was nice and clean with everything we needed. We had breakfast included... what a treat! The fry up was one of the best I've ever had and Hayley, who served us breakfast, was superb!!! Even though it was busy she still took the time to find out what we were up to and recommend some great places to see. We will definitely be back!!!
