Great for coffee

I stopped here for coffee and Alison, on reception was charming. The lounge, air conditioned, was a real plus.

Pros:

Most of the staff were welcoming and friendly

Cons:

Unfortunately the hotel is tired and needs some serious renovation. It could be helped by giving the place a good clean, such as the conservatory and paths outside

Perfect stay, we will be back if visiting University of Sheffield again!
Pros:

Really lovely stay - we had a suite and the room was fantastic. I was attending a conference at the university but only ended up doing one night because of the heatwave - had our 7 month old baby with us. Huge comfy bed, cot as requested, lovely big windows and a table and chairs which we used to eat room service dinner, which was also very nice. This was an amazing experience when travelling with a baby. Room was quite warm in the heatwave but the fan in the room did the trick.

Cons:

Had to carry the buggy up the stairs to the room but honestly this is no big deal, I did not request an accessible room and we had a lightweight travel buggy with us.

Happily would return - a great stay!
Pros:

- breakfast was perfect. Catered for vegetarian full English breakfast and plenty of options for the children.
- friendly staff, both on reception desk and restaurant.
- complimentary fruit water on arrival
- good size bath that had good pressure water.
- 10 mins walk from Sheffield Hospital (that's why we stayed there)
- quiet on the night, comfy beds and no disturbances with sleep.
- large bedroom including sofa and good size tv

Cons:

- bathroom wasn't perfectly clean. Needs a refurbishment throughout as appears a little dated.

Excellent 5*
Pros:

We stayed at The Rutland Hotel for a few nights while attending hospital appointments, and I honestly cannot thank the team enough for the care and support we received during what was a difficult and tiring time for us.
A special mention must go to Alison on reception, who truly went the extra mile from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble, and her kindness and understanding made a real difference to our stay.
We were also looked after brilliantly by Zoe, Head of Housekeeping, who ensured our room was always comfortable, clean, and well-prepared to meet our needs. Everything was done with such care and attention to detail.
Aaron, the chef, deserves huge praise as well — the food was absolutely delicious. Breakfast was delivered to our room each morning and was excellent every time, which made things so much easier for us.
We were travelling with my disabled husband, and the whole team were incredibly accommodating and thoughtful throughout our stay, which we are extremely grateful for.
The beds were also very comfortable, which really helped after long and exhausting days.
A big thank you to everyone at The Rutland Hotel — especially Alison, who really stood out for her exceptional service. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and highly recommend the hotel for anyone needing a caring and supportive place to stay.

Good value, clean, spacious with welcoming reception team. We would stay again.
Pros:

The room was very spacious and comfortable. Alison on reception was extremely welcoming and helpful.

Cons:

The bar wasn’t open early evening and the breakfast could have been better. My partner had the full English which he didn’t enjoy. I had the Continental which had a selection of cereal and pastries but no fresh fruit which would have been nice.

Lovely, friendly staff in character building in a great, yet quiet location. However it is getting in need of a refresh
Pros:

Excellent location for university open day and £10 parking for 24hrs. Lovely friendly staff and a great breakfast.

Cons:

Odd room layout, glitchy lighting in room, old sash windows stuck mostly shut, luckily on a warm, not hot summer day.
