We enjoyed our stay in this friendly and welcoming hotel.
Pros:

The executive room was spacious and cool on a very hot day. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was excellent. The location is excellent it is a short walk from the botanical gardens, shops and restaurants and the University.

Pros:

Came for a uni open day & the medical block was just at the bottom of the road so very convenient. Room was clean & comfortable. Room had a fan which helped in the heat & it was still a quiet location at night with the window open. Brilliant breakfast even though they were short staffed. Hayley was amazing running breakfast that morning & very professional when dealing with a awkward customer. Alison on reception easily dealt with any enquiries we had. Uni students & families get a discount when booked direct.

Crap but cheap
Pros:

This is a really cheap hotel, but you get what you pay for.

Cons:

It was absolutely roasting in the heat wave. The rooms have no AC. The toilet bins were full. The “continental” breakfast was absolutely minimal.

Everything. There wasn’t even a lock on the door. The AC wasn’t working. The carpet seemed quite dirty. Bath tub was too high.

Good value city break, good host at breakfast.
Pros:

Lovely room is a period building in an excellent location close enough to the centre to feel in it, but far enough away to relax from it. Also very close to Sheff uni. Very helpful lady servicing breakfast was a nice start to both days we were there.

Cons:

The windows didn't really block the sound out when closed so there was a bit of traffic noise. Also certain utilities in the bathroom were a bit of a squeeze for a taller person to use.... But workable.

Grim and gross, prepare yourself.
Pros:

Convenient location, staff were nice and friendly, water pressure in the bathroom was good.

Cons:

Room was dirty and there was a strange imprint on the ceiling and dirt on the walls and mouldy bathroom tiles. Mattress was covered in strange stains. Room was also always roasting / bathroom mirror burning to the touch. Strange smells kept coming from the toilet too. Felt like I was covered in grime despite having multiple showers. Also no sockets near the bed so it was inconvenient for charging anything. WiFi kept kicking us off and not connecting properly. We might have just been put in the only room not updated or taken care of, so if you get room 130, I would recommend changing to another because it was absolutely awful and has put me off ever wanting to stay here again.
