Great place
Pros:

Reading the reviews we were a bit dubious about staying here but it’s actually great. The location is right on the beach, it’s right in the middle of all the restaurants/ shops etc. it’s on the quieter area of the beach so it’s quiet at night. The wifi is good, you can watch videos, the shower is hot, there’s a fridge and kettle in the room and it’s clean. 5 stars. The only thing it doesn’t have is a lift but there’s only 2 floors so not a big problem. We would definitely stay again.

Okay for short stay
Pros:

Aircon noisy, but works.
Fridge is on only when you are in room and power is on.
Really nothing else to blame about room.

Meget bra hotell på stranden.
Pros:

Bra hotell med balkong (på 4 av rommene) med havutsikt. Stort rom, bra innredet og god seng. Oppsummert: Kan anbefales og er verdt prisen.

Overpriced and dirty
Pros:

Was far more expensive than other accommodations on the same beach.
Room was badly decorated and was dirty and smelled of damp. The AC had no controller so the temperature was controlled by the owner and was set so that it was hot and humid in the room. There were dead cockroaches all up the stairs to the rooms which were there our entire stay, showing the lack of cleaning taking place. We walked a few meters along the beach and far superior bungalow for half the cost. Avoid this place at all costs.

Great room and view
Pros:

Right on the beach, great view, I couldn't have gotten a better room. Very conveniently located. Has a nice restaurant in front of the hotel.

Ok Hotelon the beach
Pros:

We arrived on Koh Samet having not booked any hotel in advance as my THai partner was sure we would get it mych more reasonable locally as the prices quoted online were rediculous considering what was offered. We found this hotel and checked in (1,600Bht for two nights which was very cheap)
I was warned that there was a lot of building going on around and in front of our room but didn't have an issue. The rooms were old and water pressure limited, but it is a small island so you have to expect these things.
The beach is literally on your door step and 1 min walk from the room. Dont expect luxury here but it doesn't pretend to offer. Found it overall clean, friendly and in keeping with all other offerings in that area of Kho Samet.
Would stay here again and most def will be doing.

Great location, less great hotel
Pros:

The hotel was okay, we stayed for two nights, could maybe have stayed one more night, not good for a longer visit. The breakfast was really bad, don't include it if you want to save money. The location was great and the service/room was okay. The AC did not really work as it was supposed to. Overall an average experience but ai wouldn't go back. Great view from the balcony though!

Good location, does what it says on the tin.
Pros:

Don't expect to have your jaw dropped with this place. The rooms are old and not the nicest. However, we stayed there one night and the rooms were clean, dry and has the most powerful shower known to man kind. I switched it on and nearly ended up down the hallway. Luckily my vice like hands got the shower to submit eventually.
But overall, it's right on the beach which, after all, is why we go to Samet.

Good Thailand Beach Hotel
Pros:

I have to start with the excellent customer service at this hotel. Everyone from management to staff are so friendly and helpful. I was really amazed at the customer service here.

I see a lot of bad reviews about this place, but those people must have never been to a lot Thailand hotels, or only stayed at big chains in Thailand. It's rare for a Thailand hotel to have a toilet, usually only a place to squat. Jirawan has a toilet, large restrooms, big clean beds with the sheets changed daily, and air conditioning.

Since the hotel is on an island, the only way to get there is by boat. If you take the cheap route with the ferry, it is a long trip and then you get dropped off about a 15 minute bus ride away. I paid the 400 Baht for a speedboat that dropped me off on the beach right at the hotel. I had to wade from the boat to the dry land in only about 4 inches of water, so the speedboat gets really close to dry land. The hotel staff promptly ran out to carry my luggage from the beach to the check-in office.

I booked the room with the breakfast option and they provide coffee or tea with your choice of either an "American" style breakfast or a Thai style breakfast.

The daytime is all about enjoying the beach and water, while the nightlife is full of dinner, sites and sounds. This area of the island is all about partying, drinking and having fun at night. So expect loud music from other hotels nearby till around 1am or earlier if there are no customers.

So if you want a quite, relaxing Thailand resort, go to Phuket. If you want relaxing days with an active nightlife, stay at Jirawan.

Do not stay here
Pros:

First, it took us about 30 mins just to find the hotel because there are no signs anywhere that say the name of the hotel in English. There was a Thai sign which I assume had the name of the hotel, but since I don't read Thai, I can't be sure. (Yes, I understand I'm in Thailand and signs will be in Thai, but it is a tourist spot and it's hard to find so you'd assume they would have some kind of direction) No one seemed to know where the hotel was so we kept passing it. When we finally arrived the manager (just a guy in an office watching TV) gave me a key and grunted in the direction of the stairs. Once up in the room, I found the ceilings sloped so much (top floor) that I couldn't stand in most of the room without hitting my head. What's worse is the shower nozzle (one of those removable nozzles) was directly above the toilet, and sprayed outward so when you took a shower (which was weak and lukewarm) the entire bathroom got sprayed with water, literally all of it. And the floor stayed wet for hours so if you went into the bathroom after, your feet got wet. The wifi also didn't work, the air conditioning was very weak, and the walls were paper thin so I could hear my neighbor coughing and it sounded like she was practically in my room. Additionally, the staff didn't speak any english, and when the toilet paper ran out at 10pm (there were also no tissues), I went down to the lobby only to find the office was closed and no one was in sight to help. In the morning we received a disgusting breakfast that was literally inedible.. Even the watermelon was disgusting because it tasted like they had added a syrup to it. I would absolutely stay away from this hotel, incredibly over priced. Do one of the spa/resort hotels only a few doors down for maybe $20 more a night.

Good beach hotel.
Pros:

Just got back from a couple of nights at the jirawan. Great location. Right on the beach. Stayed there a couple of times before and the staff always very good with us. Rooms are ok. A bit dated but ok. For the location it's well worth the money. You ain't going to get 5 stars for forty quid on the beach. If you don't fancy eating there you just go left or right to one of a number of resteraunts, all on the beach. I'll stay there again.

Hotel from hell at a great location
Pros:

This is the first hotel stay where the first word from the lady in the reception was. Where is you voucher.. No welcome, no greeting. I guess it must have been because I interrupted her in watching tv on a large flat screen.

The first room was absolutely horrible. Bad smell and looked like no one had stayed there ever. Conveniently we could pay an extra fee and get a other room.. No choice that was the option we went for.

The hotel is old, messy and getting up the stairs to your room is a hazard as each step is different high.

The absolutely ONLY reason to stay at this hotel is the location on the beach and I guess this is also why the hotel is still in business. As mentioned by other reviewer no sign with the hotel name in English.. But large sign with room rent. :-)

Breakfast included means a ness cafe and a choice of the simple breakfast options. Anything else of for your own expense.

Free WIFI means WIFI in the lobby and questionable signal in the rooms.

Dirty, old and unhappy hotel
Pros:

The only good thing was location. Everything else was terrible. It was hard to get any service, they didn't speak even average english (once they tried to get us paid for chairs on the beach and didn't understand when we were saying we are staying at this hotel = free chairs). Staff was lazy and looked like they hate their job. We didn't see the hotel's name anywhere so we had to ask what hotel is this and "luckily" it was ours... Sheets were dirty (someone's hennatattoos etc), still there are big signs "if you spoil sheet you have to pay much money for new ones". The room wasn't very clean and there was poor water pressure in the bathroom (shower & sink water). Closet doors were broken and no nightlights or lightbuttons near the bed. Without real windows we could hear the bar music (karaoke!) and noise in our room. Can't recommend this hotel to anyone, there seemed to be other nice hotels on the beach where staff was smiling and ready to service customers.

Nothing special, but good deal
Pros:

Good location, clean rooms and decent service. The room wasn't anything special and the staff didn't speak the best english. But the rooms were located on the beach and were secure. Good bang for your buck

Location location but that's about it
Pros:

Having Stayed on Koh Samet once before we were keen to be right on the beach with access to restaurants etc and this hotel ticks that box. But don't expect too much more than that! Without question the most UNcomfortable bed I have ever slept on! Stained torn sheets !! after reading the sign in room about charges for damages caused I wondered how many people had been charged but the sheets and towels clearly don't get replaced. Included breakfast is just OK 100 baht value any more you pay the difference.Staff are all pretty good even saw the boss man crack a smile briefly one day. Also have to mention the STAIRS you should be very very careful after a few drinks and the shower room in our room was in the middle of the room and literally wet the entire bathroom toilet vanity basin had to leave towels outside the door! Pretty funny really for the first night our girls shower in next room was in the proper spot a little thing could be easily fixed.
Also to lock our door had to slam it shut not good for everyone else ....sorry!

Dirty and old rooms
Pros:

We stayed three nights at Jirawan hotel, and we had troubles with sleeping because the bed was terrible and the pillows even worse. The room was not proper cleaned and the wash was leaking in the bathroom. The staff did not clean the room during our entire stay!! They where not very polite and smiling either. In the morning we woke up 07.am by the staff yelling loudly through the corridors. We must also say that the air-condition didn't work either.. Terrible hotel, I would never stay there again!

Nice location. Not nice main staff
Pros:

The cleaning staff seemed nice enough and the rooms were clean and in a good location but the lady at the front was so rude to us from the start. We booked three nights and paid for the first night and said we'd go to the bank and come down the next morning to pay for the next two nights and when we came down they said they reserved our room for someone else and we had to leave. We had clearly stated that we wanted three nights minimum, maybe more and just because we didn't pay all three nights in advance she gave it to someone who called in to book without even consulting us. Not impressed with the service
