This hotel is aimed at Mexican holiday makers & is not normally visited by international tourists. It was off season , a few people staying. The weather was great making the large pool enjoyable. I stayed in a self catering apartment , which was OK for 1 night. The hotel is situated overlooking the sea , later in the evening it got a bit stormy both enjoyable & dramatic . I enjoyed a Margarita watching the stormy sea. A very Mexican experience.
where to begin. The beds are on concrete floors, very uncomfortable, very dirty and old. acces to the beach is not what it seems.no real beach. dark and muddy sand and muddy sea.
we were places near the road where the trucks are passing. /the sound and uncomfort was overwhelming. we were trembling in the house. They did after complaining twice cnange our accommodation however. the next day we found a crab swimming in our toilet.
I would advise you not to go to this hotel.
Arriving in Costa Esmeralda you will see the results of what appeared to me to be at least a few decades of economic decline. Many resorts along the playa are unused and have fallen into disrepair. The grounds of the Canadian Resort are reasonably well-maintained and our rooms rooms were clean. I enjoyed the very low-key atmosphere in comparison to other, much larger resorts (none of which are anywhere nearby). The food was excellent at the Toucan Restaurant, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had some very specific requests (some required retrieving items from off site) which were fulfilled without skipping a beat. There is not a whole lot to do if you are looking for "tourism" type activities (tours, perfectly groomed beaches, etc.) in the immediate area around the resort, however this was an excellent place to relax. At no time did I feel as though the area was unsafe or otherwise dangerous. The regional bus system is very easy to navigate (and cheap) if you wish to visit el Tajin or any of the many nearby fishing communities. Wifi is only available in the lobby, some may find this annoying, for me being disconnected only helped to free my mind from wandering back to real life and away from relaxing in the sun.
The reception was awful
The room was not clean (with ants everywhere)
The room was near the road : very noisy even during the night
The aditional bed that was provided is not a sofa as described but just camping among the ants
