It is not worth we pay.. its like a local hotel
Your Personal attention was their priority. Got upgraded to bigger room with balcony and was well chilled. Was in the city center and accessible to all locations visited. Their pool was nice
Clean, big room with tv , access to internet , and big bathroom. Very helpful staff ( especially Marius ). Delicious breakfast with a variety of foods , delicious coffee, variety of juices and fruits. The only thing I would like to point out is the sparse supply of shampoo and bath gel. Pool was clean and beautiful . Daily they supplied bottled water. I highly recommend it. If I went to Benin there I would like to stay again !
When we arrived at the hotel 03.00 am 11/10/23 the Reception Manager was extremely rude he delayed to give us the rooms and he wanted to give us room with one double bed despite the reservation. The breakfast was below average. The rooms smell like mold and are too small for 2 people. The water pressure in the bathroom was low.
Breakfast options not so great.
Hi everyone, I'm Murphy Mary, I hope you're doing great, I can't help but comment on this magnificent space in the heart of Cotonou which welcomed me during my stay with remarkably exceptional staff. Please take a look, it's without regret! So what are you waiting for? 😘
I highly recommend that all Africans throughout the diaspora visit Benin Republic for historical purposes. When you plan your trip, you must stay at the Benin Royal Hotel. I will begin with the lovely people who work there. They are so kind and gracious. They make you feel like a special and honored guest. My husband and I visited and were treated like royalty by the front desk staff, the people who serve your food, the chef, the housekeeping staff, and the breakfast team. If you need anything, just ask for it. Remember that you are visiting a very hot climate, so things need frequent repair. Just bring it to the attention of the staff, and someone will ring your bell in moments to attend to the problem. The team wants to make sure you have a wonderful time. In fact, as we were checking out, the management noticed us struggling with our luggage, and dropped everything to help us down the stairs-she was dressed up for a function and he was wearing a suit-but they didn't hesitate!
The place is so beautiful that during our week there, they hosted several meetings and conferences, a photo shoot, and a wedding. The location is nicely situated, and you can walk outside and get a taxi or a moped anywhere. The shuttle is complimentary, and so is the delicious, breakfast buffet. The outdoor restaurant has a beautiful view and wonderful, fresh food. The hotel can connect you with a driver-ask for Mr. Abou. Mr. Abou is a safe and effective driver, with a nice car that he keeps clean and has working a/c. Additionally, he is friendly and personable and has deep roots in the region. He knows his way around and knows the best places to see.
To sum it up-come to Benin Republic and stay at the Benin Royal Hotel!
My experience so far has been awesome. I want to rate the hotel 1000/ 10 because the hotel has really nice aesthetics, customer service is on point, the place is clean and the staff is really welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Cotonou or looking for an exquisite experience.
Having been to many hotels across Africa as a travel journalist, I find Benin Royal Hotel very comfortable any time I visit Cotonou.
The ambience, location, staff and everything about the place is so nice.
I invite you to visit as well.
I was practically blown off....the ambience, professionalism of the staff, top notch modern facilities, sumptuous meals, smiling faces everywhere. All these made my visit memorable 💖
If you haven't visited BRH, you ain't seen anything yet.
I always feel at home here, and I intend to stay longer. The hotel treats customers with the utmost elegance and politeness, from the front desk to the chef. Additionally, it features a wonderful pool, a bar, and beautiful executive standard rooms.
Very bad hotel in service and cleanliness no tissue don’t change towel’s in room .. found cockroach in the room and toilets
Rooms are not like what they show in there site or booking
Speaks mostly French
I don’t recommend it ever for any one who is seeking clean hotel
I recommends it as below 1 star
The Spa was closed. That was one of the reasons i picked this property. Pool was nice. The surroundings left much to be desired.
Rooms are clean but staff service is terrible. It took them several hours to deliver my food any time I order
The hotel is super cool,in treatment of visitors and also friendly, from the desk to to the cook, nice rooms that are executive standard, good pool and bar, hope to be here always because I always feel at home.
It was clean and the staff were courteous and friendly
Hotel tried to charge me for dinners that i never ordered. They're room billing system is fraught with error.
The hotel was well located in the city center within walking distance to the market + Foundation Zinsou museum. The food + restaurant service was great. Accommodations were lovely with a great rooftop pool.
However, unlike all my other hoteIs during my trip I did not have good service at the front desk.
The ATM did not work + the front desk would not exchange USD for me even though they had a currency exchange sign. That would have been fine but the woman at the front desk kept giving me attitude about it and brushing me off to come back in the morning. The excuse was they did not have any cash. However, I knew they had plenty of cash (I saw the large envelope of money they used to give other guests change). But they kept saying they had no CFA. Why they didn't just say they didn't want to exchange USD I have no idea. So that was frustrating.
Also, the front desk guy got a little nasty and accused me of overstaying when I came down for the airport shuttle. He did not realize I had paid an additional fee that morning to check out late since I had a midnight flight. Only after I showed him my receipt did he realize I had paid extra for a late checkout. He didn't apologize for his accusation or attitude and I thought that was a bit unnecessary.
Overall the stay was fine and the rest of the staff was really great. But for a nice hotel I would have liked a bit nicer front desk service.
This hotel needs to hire someone to deal with an obvious cockroach infestation. I found and disposed of approx. 15 or 20 roaches in my room during my one night stay. There were also roaches in the gym. Needless to say I checked out early, as soon as a room in another hotel became available.
The one positive about this hotel is the people who check you in. They were all friendly and professional. This could be a nice, reasonably priced hotel after they deal with the cockroach problem.
For the price, I was pretty happy with Royal Benin. The rooms are up-to-date design, with a good shower temperature/pressure and amenities like a mini-fridge, safe and kettle that are not always standard. I will admit the A/C did not really keep the room cool even at the highest setting. Wi-Fi depends - sometimes it worked and sometimes it just did not, so make sure you have roaming/local SIM. Otherwise, I slept fine in the room and (it is very quiet at night) and enjoyed the nice balcony. The elevator was REALLY slow, sometimes I would just give up on it and walk. Yes, I looked at the Novotel and Golden Tulip, but I did not read/hear anything to warrant spending 40% more a night.
The staff spoke enough English to get by if your French, like mine, stinks. Very nice pool area with a barbecue/pizza grill aside from the regular restaurant. Breakfast is fairly continental - but the sweet and savoury pastries were really well-done, but don't expect much else. The food from the hotel was also pretty good.
Other comments - Pretty central location, but lot of construction/torn up roads around the hotel. Zinsou Center is just a few minutes walk away and the artistan market only a little further on foot.
