Good location very clean room and perfect for what I needed
The TV would not tune in
Spacious room.
Unfortunately this beautiful building has gone past a suitable standard to be rented out. It's very dated and in a state of disrepair. Part of our bedroom ceiling had fallen down. We had quite a few moths flying around our room which makes you wonder what else is living in the carpet. The pool facilities should be removed from their advertising as it has clearly not been usable for many years. Breakfast was toast and cereal which you are welcome to help yourself to as no staff were there to assist. There were actually no visible staff anywhere when we checked out.
The shower pressure was nice and the beginning was clean
I did not like the mould starting to form in the bathroom by the shower did not like the fact that there was a part of the ceiling was exposed and cracking looks like the ceiling needed work to fix it the wall paper was falling off of the wall due to moisture in the wall as the dark water spots were visible
Beautiful architecture with comfy beds and good facilities
Some places show signs of lack of maintenance. Nothing major though, just finishing touches.
Room was unfinished, for example still being modernised.
No wardrobe or rails to hang clothes! Very unusual.
2 large windows, one had curtains, the ither didn't, so nice and bright in the room a 6am!
Bathroom floor was filthy.
All the light switches were fitted upside down, which we found very unusual?
Receptionist helpful. Comfortable bed. Fan in room
No cooked breakfast as advertised. Lots of cobwebs in room. TV remote dirty. No decafinated drinks available. No shower mat .
Spacious and clean

Comfortable room
Disappointed pool not in use
I loved the room.
Not a lot!
The receptionist was pleasant and helpful.
Its a very run down old hotel and nothing like the description and photos on Booking.com. No wardrobe or drawers. No hairdryer in room. Continental breakfast only, whereas photos suggest full English. No swimming pool as stated in their details. TV in my room didn't work, but receptionist did an epic job of replacing it and setting it up, although taking about an hour. No hot snacks available as advertised in their details. I paid £68 for a single room for one night. Originally I looked into booking another night for my return journey a week later but it stated £125+ so I'm glad I didn't book at that price! Room was clean but exceptionally basic. The taps, shower and toilet made loud noises every time. So much so, I didnt use during the night for the fear of disturbing other guests.
Terrible. Had toast which you have to make yourself. And make your own tea and coffee
Anything. The advertising was a complete lie . The hotel isn’t ready to receive guests. No one was available at the reception until 4 o’clock. We thought the hotel was closed.it said it had a swimming pool , it was empty.
The double bed was extremely comfortable and the linen was of a high quality and so were the towels. The shower was good too. We did not have breakfast but it was laid out in the dining room. We did not use or see the gym or pool. The History of the building was interesting and it was an amazing place to look round and imaging it`s past residents. Both the architecture outside and the woodwork inside were amazing.
More plug sockets and better lighting are needed. Both wall lights needed new bulbs.
Well located to cycle on the Kennet and Avon canal into Bath, via Bradford on Avon spacious room (5). Breakfast was self serve and plenty of choice in a lovely panelled room. Beautiful old house with plenty of character.
The bathroom needs a deep clean. And a second chair in the room would be useful.
There was a bed.
There was no sauna, swimming pool, bar or breakfast as listed. False advertisement. The staff also were not very cleanly leaving me questioning whether the food was going to be ok. There was also mould and dirt within the room.
Building is beautiful. Could be a fabulous place
No duvets on the beds when we arrived. Found the quilts but no covers in the wardrobe. Went to reception to ask for covers. Woman said she’d come and check I was right. We were just going out so I asked for there to be covers on our return. When we got back that night there were 2 duvet covers on the nightstand. So at midnight I was making our beds.
The beds were beyond uncomfortable- the mattresses are not the same size as the beds and they feel like they’ve been slept on since the building opened!
Breakfast is basic. Sachets of instant coffee, no knives for spreading butter and marmalade on the toast until much later. There is fruit and pits of yogurt which were welcome but its meagre fare.
I wouldn’t mind this so much if it were £50 a night - it would just be a funny story - but at £90 I expect some comfort and service.
