It is a wonderful place to observe bird migration. Our reserve has a large group of more than 2709 species of birds that have been recorded around the area.
We also have great cycling routes such as Winchelsea & Rye Harbor Nature Reserve loop and Pett Level Road loop from Winchelsea. On the way you will see historic landmarks and great countryside views. If you don’t have a bike and wanted to try something different. We have our own electric e-bikes which we can hire out to you for a day etc. We also have free onside bike storage to lock your bicycles up at night securely and CCTV on site with facilities to charge your own E-bike.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation.

Didn’t feel very welcome to a hotel that is closing down! Owners own words.

Cons:

Soon as we walked through the door to the reception the owner greeted us with a very unwelcome attitude. Then Early evening we were given a lecture on how much it cost to run the hotel. And how he hated the locals and swore more than once. He stated the hotel is closing in 11 days time. The Main menu was not available, only cheese or meat board offered. Yet the full menu was in the room. No coffee from the bar, apparently machine was switched off to save money! No heating in the morning. Tv reception and WiFi both went off around 10pm and amazingly both worked again in the morning. Hard to understand why?

Pleasant stay at Winchelsea Lodge
Pros:

Clean and tidy.
Plenty of tea/coffee.
Good selection for breakfast.

Cons:

The window, when shut, wouldn’t shut fully so the road and fountain were loud enough to need earplugs.
No individual hand towels, but that’s a very minor, personal thing.

Cons:

The Owner is an extremely rude person.Literally called us so many names and has no manners or social etiquette whatsoever.His behavior ruined our whole experience unfortunately.
