Hotel Peninsular

The rooms were cleanish however there was blood on a pillow in the wardrobe and we came across lots of cockroaches in our room. The breakfast wasnt the best but it’s good for it being included in the price. We really enjoyed they air conditioning as it was so hot and the hotel is in a good location very close to many things easy to walk to

It was just not great the food was disgusting other people had to move rooms because of cockroaches. The plastic bottle that I was using got taken away by room service. Half of the rooms bathroom doors did not work so all round it was bad

The rooms are fairly clean, however I was staying on the 2nd floor and we found 5 cockroaches in our room, one dead rest alive, which wasn’t nice at all. Staff are mostly friendly and breakfast is nice, however our bathroom door didn’t close. We asked the staff to fix it ans they said they would but never did, we stayed there for 5 days, would only recommend for one night.

i stayed with my school and We had to move rooms half way through our trip due to the amount of cockroaches we found in our room, the breakfast is also really disappointing only serving bread, egg, some meat and small crossaints. in our second room our bathroom door didn’t shut and we had to use a water bottle to try and hold it shut to give us some privacy and even after telling reception they didn’t do anything about it. one of our bed frames broke and fell foreword luckly we weren’t in bed yet or else that would have been a disaster. We had holes and cracks in the floor and walls which is how i’m guessing all the cockroaches got in. there was also a lot of noise at night as people were going in and out of the hotel. very spooky and wouldn’t recomend.

It's an alright hotel, nice views, near every thing. But it has a problem with the air conditioning and a problem with bugs too. Overall it ain't that bad

I absolutely loved this hotel. It’s got charm. The front desk Stephanie and owner Alex are fantastic! The rooms are Simple. We booked last minute with two twin beds. There is air conditioning. It’s just simple and sweet. Location is one block from La Rambas. This hotel has a atrium full of live plants hanging down from the balconies. Some of the rooms are shared baths. There are antique glass floors, Art Nouveau. They offer a free breakfast as well. If you love history, this is your place. I can’t say enough about it. Even if you do not stay, walk inside to check out the beautiful unique interior. I’ll be back! Thanks Stephanie & Alex for the tour and 3 wonderful days! God Bless!

This is an abysmal hostel type hotel only suitable for school parties not regular hotel guests. The noise is shocking and the rooms are incredibly basic. Forget any notion of being comfortable in bed or making yourself a cup of tea or any other pleasant thing you would expect to be able to do in a normal hotel room. DO NOT BOOK HERE.

£380 for 3 night stay and no door on bathroom , 1 internal window no wardrobe , no chest of drawers. Absolutely nowhere to hang or put your clothes . Not very clean and it's wood chip city Absolutely shocking would not recommend this place . AVOID at all cost .

An old and worn, yet lovely and well taken care of hotel cituated centrally in Barcelona. Our first impression wasn’t all that great due to some of the surrounding alleys. Though old the hotel provided all the facilities we needed and its staff were really great.

If you are looking for the prison experience then maybe this is for you. It smelt of drains. Very noisy you could hear the person in the next room amplified. Zero atmosphere. I felt instantly drained entering the building. We ended up booking another hotel it was that bad.

I don’t have any positives for this hotel except the location . The rooms were dated , small and smelt of mould and drains the whole time we were there . No shower curtain so the bathroom was soaked every time we showered . Flat pillows and u comfy beds . The hotel needs a complete renovation or at least a deep clean . The noise from other rooms was insane , the windows and shutters have huge gaps so it’s so noisy . The room had cockroaches , we we complained about, but the owner said well that Spain ??? The breakfast was so bad , bread, boiled eggs , ham and cheeses which didn’t taste nice .
Spend a little more money and go somewhere else .

Last visited this hotel 14 years ago.
It has become rather tired, however bedding, rooms were clean and staff kept them so.
Reception staff were just adequate and not particularly helpful.
Although an issue with neighbours noise was remedied by a move to another room

El hotel olia bastante mal. El elevadoe tambien. No habia suficiente iluminacion en la habitacion. De hecho no hay luz como tal. Sino unas lamparitas. La unica razon por la que pongo este review es para ver si se esfuerzan. No ponen jabon tampoco. El desayuno muy basico tambien. Cafe, yogur y bolleria nada mas.

It is a convenient, charming hotel. As a single female traveller, my stay was distressing however - a staff member gained access to my room late at night, without knocking. They left, apologised profusely the next day, reception were reassuring.

Great service from Stephanie & Soban at reception, extremely courteous and helpful. Central location. Shopping and food within walking distance .

When we first arrived at the hotel peninsular our impression of the hotel was good. The entry and common room were very well decorated. The hotel was well placed. It was located near la Rambla however, the street was a little sketchy. The rooms were small but overall, they fulfilled our needs. On the other hand, there was only one window leading out to the common room and no window leading outside. Therefore, there was no way of getting fresh air into the room, especially when our air-conditioner stopped working the last day, and when it worked it was very loud and would wake us up during the night. There were a few rooms that had a window leading outside and air conditioning without problems. The hotel manager was not very welcoming, but the rest of the staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet was one of the worse parts of the hotel experience. It was a boring selection of food, and it was not great tasting either. The juice tasted very artificial, and the machine made an annoying beep sound whenever it was used. Overall, you get what you pay for, the hotel was not bad for the price we paid for our stay. If you come here with the intentions of just having a place to sleep and if you are not interested in spending a lot of time at the hotel, then it is an okay choice especially if you are travelling on a budget but don’t  expect much. The hotel is old and dated. The rooms were small, with only the necessary things. Some rooms didn’t have windows to the outside, only out to the common area, and those were only half covered with a thin plexiglass. The only way to cover those “windows” were a sliding cover, which you could not lock, and even though the “window” was covered, a lot of noise would still come through.
The air-condition could not go below 23C, and it beeped about every 20-25 minutes, but only in the afternoon and throughout the night. In the room was 4 beds and a table, that was it. The bathroom was okay, but the bathtub was dirty and had suspicious marks in it. The bed covers were clearly not clean at all, and there were holes in the sheets, you had to sleep with.
The breakfast was fine, but it only had toast, one kind of jam, some “nutella”, suspicious eggs, and some yogurt that has been out for too long. The coffee was REALLY good though.

The lobby is very nice looking, filled with hanging plants and a seating area, but after staying here it is safe to say that they are compensating for how unsatisfactory the rooms are. There were good towels, a spacious bathroom, a warm shower, and fairly comfortable beds, but the rooms had thin walls, no lock on the bathroom door and unwelcoming service. The room was very warm when we came in, and the air conditioning did not work. When we asked the staff for help, they only replied with, “We’ll look at it tomorrow”, so we had a very hot night. Furthermore, there was hair on the bathroom floor, stains on the walls, floors and bed sheets, and there was only a very small window with no airflow. There were no tables, neither bedside or desks, despite space for it and chairs. The breakfast was very limited, with dry bread and muffins, that has stayed in the restaurant overnight. Very mediocre toppings and peeled eggs. Old crisp sock in drawer.

Non c'è la TV, appendi asciugamani, phon, molto semplice.

Good value, fairly basic but with all that was needed - quiet, dark rooms, air con, decent shower and good location. Would stay there again.
