Every thing was handy staff did their best to help out if requied
Internet connection not the best
shower not that easy to control
I love the Victorian era charm of this pub+hotel. It's cozy and comfortable without being over the top or pretentious. Excellent kitchen and bar downstairs! All meals for your day are possible here. Super easy walk to/from the underground station. Great village area! Peaceful easy walk to Kew Gardens and Palace. Without hesitation, recommend this vintage charmer to everyone.
Be aware there's no elevator.
The location was great staff did their best but difficult for them too few to provide a reasonable level of service. The downstairs bar and restaurant were good service and food excellent.
Room 20 top floor room dangerous steep narrow staircase not safe to carry luggage on and no assistance. So called bathroom no bigger than a small downstairs cloakroom toilet, sink and shower crammed into tiny space . No water at all on first morning, pump broke had to wash using ice buckets filled with warm water had to use groundfloor toilets. No apology desk not manned when we left dont blame staff too few to cope.. Continual overnight road noise. Room tired need updating and redecorating , blinds not fitted correctly !! Dont normally give negative reviews.
The staff were friendly, the breakfasts excellent. We were in room 18 which was up 54 stairs in the attic and hard going as my husband is fit but at 76 quite hard. It was comfortable but the shower room very small. Although room small it had everything you required. I would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Kew and transport links great. Ask for rooms on lower floor if elderly.
Being on top floor. There was a dehumidifier at bottom of bed making access awkward. Remove before letting out room. Needs little updating.
The location of the hotel was excellent, very close to the station at Kew Gardens and with a bus stop right outside the door. Just a few minutes away was a small shopping area with cafe and bars. Kew Gardens was a 5 minute walk away. The area is leafy and green and a million miles away from the concrete city centre, but is on the District Line with access to everything!
Our flight was delayed which meant we missed dinner. I rang the hotel to let them know, as we'd booked a table for dinner. As we arrived after 9.00 pm, it would have been really nice if we'd been offered a cold plate to be kept aside, even a sandwich. The room was fine, although we were up in the attic and it was very hot, in spite of the fan. The "bathroom" was a really tiny shower room, not any bigger than a cupboard and washing in there was not easy. The toilet was jammed right up against the tiny hand sink. However, it was there, so was thankful!
The bedroom was clean with comfortable bedding. Bottled water was appreciated. Staff were polite and the bar area was pleasant. The location was very convenient for Kew.
The bathroom was shabby with black mould and a drainage smell. The shower gel provided had run out. The room was quite hot. The appearance of the room was very different from the double room advertised on the website, much plainer and less elegant. Only two teabags were provided.
The room was comfortable, as was the bed and full bath. Very noisy neighbors, which wasn't the hotel's fault. But walls were sort of thin. and my room was above the pub. Close to Kew Garden entrances which was a priority for me. Got to spend my afternoon and some evening there. Staff were polite and helpful. Had to leave for airport, so did not experience breakfast.
Proximity of noisy guests, slamming doors, etc.
Room was very hot.
Room felt dusty/musty
Window frames were slightly rotted
Bathroom light didn’t work properly
Location fantastic for the gardens
Nothing
Central location for our plans
Looks tired - needs decorating and some things fixed eg tried to take a shower in the morning and the shower head fell off & pipe work coming through the tiles. Expensive for the quality/standard it currently is in - looked at booking same time next year and the same type of room is £60 more expensive at £225 than this year which was £166 - not worth that amount of money
I didn’t have a chance to check in
I booked this hotel at 21:50, however in this hotel there’s no 24 hours check in desk. So be careful if you want to check in after 22:30 or if your plans changed and you arrive later - you will not be able to check in.
And I have no idea how you can come back to the hotel when you need to be out after 22:30
