It was great. I booked last minute, arrived late and left early. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. It was exactly what I needed - a place to sleep - on the way into New Orleans for hurricane relief.
After booking online, we arrived at the hotel with no one to check us in. We had to end up finding a spot to park a few miles down the road and sleeping in the car. Tried to call the number that was listed on the reservation but it went straight to voicemail. Even after contacting hotels.com, they also had no luck contacting the hotel.
We evacuated out home in front of a hurricane and found this room. Drive an hour outside of our projected path to get here for the night and the hotel desk was empty. Waited around for 20+ minutes looking for someone and called the number multiple times but no answer . Finically got back on the road and drive several kite hours in middle of night with my wife and 2 children to find another place - now being told someone will contact me within 10 business days to see if I can get a refund
Very hot bathroom, a very toe stomping at the doorway into the bath. Water spelled like sewer and had to ask for towels the next day.
Each room has a theme. Eclectic and funky vibe in small town Louisiana
Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel is located right downtown and close to Fred’s. Very clean and beds were very comfortable.
We loved, loved, loved this hotel. We were fortunate enough to meet the current owner, Val, while we were there. The place is quirky and charming, and the manager is lovely. He and Val went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and then some. It's right across the street from Fred's Lounge, so if you're a Cajun music fan make sure to book a room on Friday night so you can go to the Saturday morning show at Fred's. The Hotel Cazan is a treasure.
Perfect location for the bars and some great food places! Quiet, clean and EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. Will be back!
(Only one small issue... plug outlet not located in a place to easily plug in CPAP machine. Solved by buying an electrical outlet few minutes away.)
People were great and lots of fun...
Had plans to visit Fred’s and stayed the night at Hotel Cazan which is across the street. Wonderful staff and a great experience
Although the staff couldn't be any nicer this place is very dated. We were told the electrical had been updated but you have to wait a long time for hot water. The room is tiny, one foot on either side of a queen bed, no closet, no outlets or lights on night stands. The tv is the smallest i've seen, they were proud to say they had Netflix but the slow internet may it impossible to watch. Fine for one night but not two. There may be better rooms in the hotel that we had but I can only base my review on our room. They have a bar that's not open and a malt shop that's not open. It was probably great 50 years ago.
This hotel has a very laid back atmosphere and management style. To check out of the hotel you just hang the key by the register. The décor is very interesting and unique. Stayed there one night and the person that checked me in was also running an antique store next door. I read online that they also have a bar but didn’t check it out. The restroom in the room I stayed in did not have way to lock. Restroom/showers were clean and towels were OK. The room was pretty cold and even though there was a thermostat to adjust the temperature it didn’t seem to work. Temp dropped to the high 30’s the night we were there. Wifi is pretty good and there is a Roku (in addition to cable) to view TV. There are some bars/restaurant across the street and a bank around the corner. Breakfast consisted of donuts and coffee. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again.
Check in proprietor was amazing. Very helpful. Took care of small billing issue and upgraded my room. Even watched a video on YouTube of a ghost hunter episode, and it was OUR room. Good small town feel. Will stay again.
