Small gorgeous hotel. The view is spectacular The team are the kindest and helpful bunch of people and make this a super easy and lovely choice. We arrived and I got hot by a nasty cough and cold and need to sleep (for about 40 hours). Fruit and soup were promptly delivered to the room. Rest of the family were presented with options of things to do in the area and transport was sorted quickly. Incredibly kind and welcoming team. Room was lovely. Pool is great for hanging out. Beach is great for walking (you can't swim right there as there is a reef - but 10 minute walk / 3 minute tub tub away there are lots of beaches). Will definitely come back!
Loved the place, location, staff and the Ambience. Lovely hotel.
Nihal and Nayani at the front desk are very helpful.
Beautiful Boutique hotel.
Neat, clean & very friendly staff lead by a dynamic manager Anjan

Rooms are beautiful. Large like a Service Apartment. Very clean. Twice they do the room cleaning if required.
Staff very polite and well behaved.
Location easily accessible and right beside the Matara highway . It is a beach front property with lovely view.
Great experience and service.
It's a small boutique hotel very close to the sea.
We were a family of 3 and we were very satisfied with our recent staying.
Architecture is great and the location superb.
Really beautifully located by the sea (really, really close to the waves).
Beyond that, the service was very good.
Very kind staff!! Our stay was amazing and they do everything to make it comfortable for you. Thank you so much for all your help and kindness 🪷😊
I rarely write reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared. This hotel has so much potential with its stunning location and overall property design – but sadly, the service completely ruins everything.
From the moment I arrived, no one at the front office acknowledged my presence. The staff seemed completely unaware of guest arrivals and had zero sense of professionalism. Basic manners were missing – no greetings, no assistance, and no courtesy whatsoever. It felt like the staff were doing me a favor by letting me stay there.
The F&B service was equally poor. The waiters lacked training, were unresponsive, and looked lost most of the time. The only positive I can mention is that the food tasted good, but that’s not enough to make up for the awful service.
The entrance to the hotel is also very unappealing and gives a bad first impression – a shame for such a nicely located property.
To management: you seriously need to re-train your team. No matter how beautiful your hotel is, guests won't return if the service is this careless.
Would never recommend this place to anyone unless major improvements are made.
Absolutely loved my stay – pure relaxation from start to finish. The property is stunning, and I highly recommend booking an ocean view room—there’s nothing like falling asleep to the sound of waves every night. The location is breathtaking, the pool is peaceful and serene, and the set dinners were delicious and beautifully presented.
The staff truly went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and cared for. I felt completely at ease throughout my stay. Already dreaming about coming back!
Had a really relaxing stay. The property is gorgeous and I highly recommend the ocean view room. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and looked after. Will definitely be back
Lovely location by the sea. We were upgraded to a suite so had a nice living/kitchen/dining area as well as a large bedroom. Very friendly staff. Easy to take a tuc-tuc to Unawatuna from the main road and the hotel gave guidance on an appropriate fare.
This was our final stop on a three week tour of Sri Lanka and was designed as our relaxing downtime before the journey home.
Accommodation: Our room was "The Boat" which had a large well equipped bedroom with large balcony overlooking the gardens and sea; the view somewhat limited by overhanging trees. Good, large bathroom with excellent shower.
Public Areas: The pool and bar areas were lovely and well maintained. The pool is very shallow at one end, so suitable for small children. The hotel sits right on the beach, but the beach at this point is rocky. A short walk takes you to a beach area where you can swim. Stilt fishermen operate right in front of the hotel, so lots of photo opportunities. There are two excellent library/TV rooms, both really tastefully decorated and well stocked with books, etc.
Restaurant: Breakfast, lunch and dinner are very good; although the lunch menu is somewhat limited. Dinner was good particularly when we treated ourselves to the excellent seafood platter for two; although the menu price is only indicative of final cost dependant on fish/shellfish available.
Staff: We found all the staff to be friendly, helpful and competent. Particular praise to the General Manager, his assistant, chef and all the bar/restaurant staff.
We would certainly return for another very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Excellent facility
Great staff friendly and helpful
Paradise setting
Relax and enjoyable holiday for 12 of us
Restaurant food amazing
Near yo many shopping places that could be reached by uber or tuk tuk
The kids loved the adventure
Talpe beach natural pool was great
We will go again very soon
Beautiful boutique hotel with amazing facilities and staff. We had a suite which was perfect for us and our children. Comfortable beds and excellent service. The breakfast was delicious and made to order. Lovely pool and quiet place. Highly recommend!
This hotel is a real gem. We wondered what it would be like given its quirky name but it was wonderful. Lovely colourful buildings, very nicely decorated rooms and fantastic apartments. The pool isn't huge but good enough to get some exercise..the hotel is right on the ocean, in a beautiful small bay which, unlike nearby Unawatana, is unspoilt by inappropriate high rise hotels. Above all, Nihal the manager and all his staff went out of their way to help us, both with our choice of accommodation and local knowledge. Definitely one to return to.
The hotel is really runned down and feels more like a hostel than hotel. We only stayed for one night and left next morning. The breakfast was very basic. At best the room should go for a max $50 in high season.
There is a mafia of tuktuk in front of the hotel, making it difficult to book a taxi through Uber.
The Frangipani tree hotel is next door with a beautiful landscape, gorgeous pool, very comfortable and modern rooms, and a delicious choice of food.
This hotel was absolutely fantastic. It’s right along the beach with a cute small restaurant and pool. Far enough away from the craziness to enjoy some tranquility, but just a short Tuk Tuk away to enjoy the southern coast.
I had a driver take me to Udawalawe National Park - a comfortable two hour drive - and got to see some spectacular wildlife, including elephants!
Other great locations like Weligama and Galle Fort are very accessible too.
The staff is what will bring me back. Everyone was kind, helpful, and accommodating. They suggested all kinds of activities and I was always greeted with such warmth.
Thank you, I will certainly be back!
Fantastic paradise right on the beach. Close enough to all the tourism and excitement, but far enough away to have true peace and tranquility. The staff was absolutely phenomenal and the reason I will absolutely come back.
Fantastic location by the sea after a busy 2 weeks touring Sri Lanka.
We just wanted to relax and chill for a few days before going home.
The hotel itself I would call quirky with a lounge containing hundreds of books as well as lots of nik naks and pictures to look at. We didn’t really make use of the room but enjoyed browsing the books!
Our room was comfortable with an amazing sea view and balcony! The bed was a little hard but overall the room was quiet apart from the sound of the waves, which was lovely. I would recommend Insect repellent as there were quite a few mosquitos!!
The restaurant was extremely quiet and the few time we dined there for breakfast or evening meal it was very often just us!! The menus for breakfast was limited but fruit and toast was offered as well as a few cooked items. Evening meal was also quite limited and a bit on the expensive side, but if you didn’t want to leave the hotel in the evening it was ok!
Chelsea (guest relations) as well as the gentleman on reception made us feel very welcome and always went out of there way to chat to us about our day/plans
Overall an enjoyable stay.
This review is for the restaurant. We did not stay at hotel. We had been recommended this place by our UK travel agent describing it as a great place to eat local fish. Buzzy and all. What a disappointment. We were the only people in a room that felt pretty sad. The menu is full of burgers and European dishes. The fish we ate was nice but at £45 ($55) for 2 plates of fish (served with a sauce and 4 potato wedges) a bite and a glass of wine it is certainly not worth a try!
Just like its unique name, the concept of hotel is also unique. Situated along the beach with ocean water sound fluffing ears, it is definitely a relaxing experience. Friendly staff, library, quirky room names definitely makes it unique. Since our booked room had some issue, we were provided free upgrade. The room had board game, blackboard, multiple balcony, books, etc to ensure guests can truly relax. Given our Jain food option, the chef provided us decent dinner & breakfast items. Some rooms don't have a phone in room to ensure no one can disturb. The booklet giving the story behind the hotel, nearby amenities, etc is a good addition.
Scope of improvement is to have accommodation for drivers (of guest), availability of staff & kitchen at night hours, faster Wi-Fi speed, buttons of lights of few common spaces to be moved outside room, etc.
Overall a relaxing stay
