The place is very open, peaceful, clean and very friendly, helpful accommodating staff. Breakfast is sufficient.
Kenatea, the manager is very nice. Our flight is not until late in the afternoon and she let us stayed in our room until we are ready to leave for our flight.
One thing I really liked about this place was it’s literally walking distance from the airport, about two blocks away. The transfer company had my flight wrong so didn’t show up, and I really wanted to get to the hotel to use the pool, so I walked, and it was fine. They actually let me into my room early, which was very kind, and let me check out late because I was coming back from a beach excursion and wanted to have a shower. Good breakfast, nice, big room, clean, and lovely pool! My friend had wanted lunch one day but apparently you have to give 24 hours notice as they are only equipped for breakfast. That is the only thing that might be a downside because it is a bit of a walk (10 min) to another restaurant, and about 20 minute walk to town. It was an amazing experience, Easter island is a fantastic place.
Great hotel close to the airport, 20 min walking distance from the town center. Spacious rooms, pool and super friendly service.
The place was nice and the host super accommodating and friendly. Perfect for what I needed.
Very clean and spacious. Pleasant and helpful staff.
It was great. The staff was so nice and accommodating. Our flight was delayed and we missed a night and they were completely understanding and helpful. So friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was fantastic
Close to airport .staff are very friendly and kind. Room is No so big but ok. We join the 2 bed make bigger than king size bed. Breakfast is basic continental style. Wifi is ok. Clean room .
The Puku Vai is a motel-style one-story hotel located just two blocks from the airport terminal, so you can easily walk there when you arrive. As a result, it's a few blocks further from the main restaurant area than some other hotels, but still not that far (though a rental car or taxi helps if you are carrying groceries or late at night). Rooms are large and air conditioned (unusual on Easter Island), with plenty of hot water. The hotel has a small swimming pool if you don't feel like driving to the beach. There isn't much noise at night, but the local roosters will make sure you get up at sunrise (again, a general Easter-Island feature, not a hotel defect). The breakfast buffet is fine. We had hoped for more support from the hotel arranging tourist outings--staff were friendly, but a bit evasive. You really need to know what you want before you get there, since internet is exceedingly slow (again an island-wide issue, not a hotel issue). Overall, a reasonable choice at the high end of Easter-Island offerings.
This is a great option for a few days on Easter Island. It’s walking distance from the airport (even toting a couple of suitcases behind you) and it has pretty much everything you could ask for - a big comfortable bed, a decent shower and a good breakfast. The air-conditioning works well and there’s a great pool. It’s a bit of a walk into the main street but unless you have mobility issues it’s hardly an issue.
There is wi-fi but it’s very slow. Don’t get upset about it - it’s pretty much the same everywhere on the island. The only thing I’d love as an addition there would be an espresso coffee in the mornings. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. A great spot to base yourself on Rapa Nui
This was a pleasant place to stay, staff and relevant information were available all the time. Manager responded me several times prior our arrival and almost immediately, which was very positive to me. Everything was feasible to do and organise from the hotel to ease our stay.
Room and bathroom were clean, breakfast was lovely, there is a small swimming pool, which we didn't use.
There is internet access as well.
Staff is amazingly supportive and all of this made our holiday in the island.
Very nice hotel, very clean and great staff. My only small complaint would be that the wireless internet could be better, but this may also just be me living in an area that has super fast network.
Very close to the airport and just on the edge of town. Easy walking distance to grocery stores, downtown (if you can call it that). parking is available if you rent transport, although you can get picked up by the tour companies from the hotel lobby.
Really enjoyed soaking my tired swollen feet in the hotel swimming pool after walking/hiking during the day. Management extremely helpful, e.g., preparing bagged breakfast when we had an early morning tour, printing our boarding passes, recommending/calling restaurants.
The staff were so welcoming and then room and pool were great. Short walk from town and the airport. Prefect
An excellent stay - very helpful and friendly staff, great breakfasts!
This hotel was the BEST. The room was perfect. Comfortable bed, great shower and comfortable room. The room had a large sliding glass window which led to the beautiful tropical landscaping and pool. I felt rejuvenated here. And, the staff were the BEST. Breakfast was excellent and I really liked that when you entered the dining area, you were met with a hello and "would you like eggs". If you said yes, the staff member would ask how you liked them. Then, within 3-5 minutes you had your eggs perfectly cooked. And, I had mine cooked three different ways. In the interim, you could help yourself to the "sides". And, while you were served quickly, there was never the feeling of being rushed and the eggs were delivered to your table. The owner, as well as the staff, were always ready and willing to assist you with your needs and made you feel welcome. Also, the entire place was extremely well maintained and clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel for your lodging.
Easter Island will not have 5 star Hilton / JW Marriott hotels. Having said that, enjoy the island. This is a 5 star island hotel. The island is completely safe, the hotel is clean, comfortable, and they have a great staff willing to help you coordinate everything. The island is expensive. I organized every tour thru Orbitz or other sources, don't do that. The hotel has great prices for tours, uses good and relatively affordable services. Location isn't in town, it's a 10 min walk. It's next to the airport. Rent a car anyways to go where you want on the island. Good luck. Great hotel.
We just had a very pleasant stay at Puku Vai. The personnel was very friendly and helpful. They even made a cake for my husband's birthday! :-) The lobby of the hotel is very nice and they have a very good breakfast. Rooms are a little dated but overall in good condition.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
Ideally located within walking distance of the airport and 10min walk into the centre of town. Spacious and comfortable rooms. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful and gave me some excellent recommendations for food and activities. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Centrally located, great A.C, friendly staff, tasty breakfast
Staff are all great. Decent breakfast. Rooms a dated. Dark furniture and walls. Heavy old bed spreads. Rooms are spacious but need updated. Pool is nice but not heated. Too cold this time of year.
After seeing the other choices on the island, this one seems the best for the money. It is much more like a hotel than the hostals, but not nearly as expensive as the very upscale hotel. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
