Very beautiful interior, loved the nautical vibe. The refreshments and snacks were a surprising bonus. We enjoyed the location which was close to everything. Valet parking was convenient. We had a lovely breakfast in the on-site restaurant and several custom coffees...all were excellent. Tavis our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. We loved the outdoor patio in the evening and live music.
We really liked our stay here. As others have said, the location for exploring the harbor and Old Port shops and restaurants is perfect. Services from the front desk (Simone and John), restaurant wait staff, housekeeping and valet were all very good. Our room was quiet and faced the inner garden. We had a separate bath tub and shower. The shared pantry for our floor was just what the doctor ordered, with complimentary hot beverages and snacks (you could get a light breakfast from the pantry and/or dine in the restaurant).
Complaints in other reviews about the $35/day destination amenity fee seem ill-founded, as the hotel is upfront and includes this fee when quoting your rate during the reservation process. Similar to other lodgings that sometimes include a daily credit to be used for breakfast, this fee is given back to guests as a daily credit. PHH goes further by allowing guests to use the $35/day credit for other hotel restaurant meals or in the hotel store, which in our book makes it better than those other places. Just make sure you use the credit, because it’s ‘use-it-or-lose it’.
Our only critiques are that while the valets provided excellent service, $45/day seemed a tad overpriced, and that the word “Arrivals” posted over the parking structure entry/exit is a little confusing since the hotel’s name is only displayed at the opposite end of the building (depending on which direction you approach the hotel it’s not clear that this is the arrival area for the PHH).
If returning to Portland, we’d happily stay at the Portland Harbor Hotel again.
This hotel is definitely not 4.5 stars. Rooms clean but it's all very tired looking. One
slow elevator for the entire hotel. No coffee makers in each room, only on each floor.
Not all were working. Way too much large bulky furniture in the room. Noise from the street was LOUD until very late at night. For the amount they charge, it's definitely NOT worth it.
everything went smoothly
Nothing really
location
Parking Valet was expensive for what it was. If you are going to charge $45, the valet folks need to move the cars, help with the luggage and be generally accomodating and they were just - meh.
No ice on our floor and broken coffee machine. Snacks were very average, so average you didn't want to eat them.
Beautiful back patio, gorgeous lobby and restaurant. Spacious and well decorated room. Spectacular service by our hosts from check-in to check-out.
Nothing :) truly an exceptional experience!
That it was a roof over our heads for the night..
Booked a room with two beds payed extra for two and was put in a room with one then when requested to remedy the problem they put us in a room with two beds over an hour later and one had no pillows… we were late to our event due to the untimely fix as well as being charged another $100 for the new room which was the hotels error not mine…. And on top of all that mess the sink was broken and dirty for a one night stay that cost me $400-$500 this is outrageous…
Staff helpful. Snack bar nice concept. Location fir walking. Bikes available as complementary
Beautiful garden area & nice bar but food choice lacking. Understaffed so we didn't eat on location.
dont stay here. The fees and charges are misleading, ridiculous and not worth it at all.
$45 valet charges on top of $35 nightly charges for "destination amenities"
the lights flickered in our room, the tv is years old and had touchy service, and the food and drinks are insanely priced.
Beautiful building close to everything.
Our particular room in which we stayed this visit was extremely small. Almost like a corner storage closet?? The other rooms we’ve stayed in previously were much larger for the same 2 guests.
Located right in downtown Portland, the location is walking distance to most of Portland attractions, hotel was very clean and great service.
Amazing location in the heart of the Old Port. Updated, clean and has character. Friendly and helpful staff!
Location was great for exploring the port area. Tea/coffee/ice water available all day plus great cookies on an afternoon & pastries on a morning.
Quite tired, $35 add to bill daily to be spent on site we purchased cocktails which were average. $50 parking per night.
