We had payed for breakfast, bottled water, wifi and premium cable channels. upon arrival the place and staff seemed really friendly. The first problem was the fact that tv didn't work so they had changed our room. In our room the toilet and shower didn't work. The tv had broken 2 days after that. Also upon the tv breaking the wifi had also gone out and I was told they didn't pay for the wifi bill so they had no idea when it would be back up because it was saturday so they couldn't call in to pay the bill. We were also informed that the chef was sick so in the entire time we were there we didn't once receive any breakfast. we had decided to leave when the staff kept walking into our room randomly. Every night we would hear the, banging on doors and yelling, around those times if our door wasn't locked they would just walk in unannounced and if it was locked they would stand there trying to get in for a few seconds. Not also to mention the fact that the staff are up all night in the bar being very loud so getting sleep at this place just never happened. We were supposed to be there for 8 nights and left night 5. to sum it up this place is unsafe creepy and just terrible
First of all, this hotel is NOT in Thamel. The location pin on the map in the description is inaccurate. It's only a few minutes' walk away, but at night the roads are unlit and it feels incredibly dodgy getting there. Do not believe the location pin - it's actually located a bit southwest of Thamel. Though they did pay for my cab ride over (from where the pin was), which I appreciated. As a woman traveling alone, I felt super unsafe, especially since someone tried to get into my room after I went back up to my room after breakfast. I dead bolted it and shouted out, and thankfully nobody was there when I opened the door several minutes later. That was a terrifying experience - could have been someone's mistake, an accident, but I don't know. It's also super loud due to the huge opening connecting the lobby to each floor - so if you want to sleep past 5:30am, stay somewhere else.
The place was a bit dirty and the walls in my room were filthy. This is the first negative review I've ever left for anything online - I normally suck it up and count it part of the experience if a place isn't fantastic - I don't want to bring down a place's reputation based on one stay.
Unless they start charging about $5/night, don't do it.
