Great location
No complaints
Close to rental shop. Easy access to ski slope.
The hotel lacked facilities like a restaurant or a lobby.
I found the coffee was too weak.
The whole facility was too dark and gloomy.
Public bath was too old and not pleasant.
Absolutely loved our time here. Next time we will stay longer. Thank you to all the amazing staff
Location is perfect for ski in ski out.
Room is large and very clean.
Staff are great.
Japanese older style hotel with great food, big rooms and comfy bed. Fantastic location ski in/out right in the middle of the ski area cross Point. Would stay again, great value hotel.
We we're in a Triple room which was huge
As with most Japanese style hotels the lounge area could be a little more cosy for after ski drink and chat. Not enough of a reason to put us off this place we had a great stay!
No enthusiasm for business very sad
Location is not bad
Location, efficiency, friendliness, extraordinary food for dinner, ample substance for breakfast.
Vending machine for a quick coffee or hot white tea not available - empty ☹️
Great location to access Central Shiga Kogen skifields. Just a few steps to access Ichinose Diamond or Family ski areas and on from those to a number of others by skiing. Bus stops opposite the hotel also. Very nice dinners at night.
For non-Japanese people the staff spoke very little English so I experienced a few communication issues even when we used Google translate. Not much to do in Ichinose or Shiga Kogen at night. The main light in "western style" rooms is disabled for some weird reason so I found my room a bit dark.
Great location, wonderful food, friendly staff!
The place was very convenient and centrally located to the ski slopes. The rooms were clean and comfortable, though dated. Dinner and breakfast were great, though. If you aren't a seafood eater or have allergies, you might want to see if there are options.
The ski lockers were small, and we had trouble getting all our skis and poles in. No WiFi in the rooms.
駐車場が目の前。
夜中12時ごろ、隣の部屋の外人の声がうるさかった。
Location close to lifts, tickets and ski rentals at Ichinose Area. Bus stop close. Waitstaff very nice. A Most interesting (unsafe, creepy)top floor stairwell with no light for the washing machine/dryer. Good ski locker area.
Onsen crowded, small with no seating or ammenities , poor ventilation in the Ladies wet area caused steam so thick you couldnt see where the washing area was, or the edge of the onsen. It also was TINY. Mens was much larger but always very crowded reported my husband.
Our Tatami Mat room had very old foam underlay cushions with hard and cracked foam. And no soft pillows (just trad.bean bag style, hard as rocks). So sleep left us with neck cricks and sore hips (not from our skiing).
No need for alarm clock, pipes at 7am pinged and creaked better than a custom ring tone! (But we did find the room temperature comfortable overall.)
Kodama has two large statement piece fireplaces at reception lounge, but neither operating. Lounge lights overhead were too dim to be inviting for guests to engage in a social setting. No warmth or style on reception floor. Little artwork, poor lighting, no warmth or color except brown.
Hotel Kodama is clean and efficiently run, starkly furnished everywhere except the dining areas. It lacks any charm but has so much potential. Dinners were a star but inflexible for inviting additional family members to join us for dinner one evening . The building has been maintained in mostly original 1970s era but structure has been repaired, double glazed windows updated, bath fittings good…. But so plain and dark and sad.
