Good location
Poor cleanliness of room. No toilet paper or towels in bathroom, I had to ask at reception for them. Shower door broken, shampoo dispenser empty. Uncomfortable bed, wardrobe felt like it was about to fall apart. The wall socket for the kettle was hidden behind the desk and the cable was too short to reach. I had to move the desk and place the kettle on the floor to use it. When I phoned prior to my arrival to extend my stay for another night the staff were unfriendly and hung up the phone on me. The hotel management contacted me after my stay and threatened me with legal action for leaving a poor review.
To begin with, this is NOT a review of my recent stay at the President Hotel. It has been made quite clear by the management that any reviews NOT sanctioned by them will incur legal action, even if the reviews are honest. They have threatened action up to £5000. Guests are required to sign some paperwork on arrival (which you assume is to accept any additional costs incurred due to damage etc.) but is, in fact, a statement saying no posts on social platforms may be made without them having say in what is reported and how it is reported (keeps their ratings up).
I had booked for 2 nights half-board, but left just after 16 hours, due to concerns that I am prohibited from mentioning, by the Walsh Family (owners of the establishment), who have threatened legal action. My original posts have been taken down (by me) and I leave it to you to decide on whether you opt to stay here. Apart from the comment, that the property did not meet my expectations (which could mean anything), I have nothing to say about this place.
Nothing
The night we checked in there was a guest passed out at reception, the room only had a bath, no shower, no air in the room, kettle was tiny, pictures of the hotel looked nothing like real life. The beds had hair on them, they were broken so when you slept on them you could feel the springs popping, only one ight worked in the room We checked out a night early and checked into the Grand next door. When I went back for my shampoo and conditioner it was gone and when I complained to staff they didn't care.
Clean and staff were lovely even gave our little one a goody bag on arrival
WiFi wasn’t great but apart from that no complaints
The fact we could get a family room which fitted 2 adults and 4 kids.
Staff weren't really around, had to go hunting for staff to check in, the bar area was dirty with empty bottles and wrappers everywhere, and again had to go hunting around to get served. Bit dark and depressing feel in the hotel.
Very good breakfast...opposite the tram stop...sea front .opposite beach access....good accomodation for the price.
They just need a better cleaning system...window cleaning and better surface polishing and better carpet vacuuming
Not much. The breakfast was very good and the servers were wonderful.
The room was super small and in bad need of a paint job. The carpet was crusty and the bathroom needed lots of loving. We had to ask for our room to be cleaned. Out of 6 nights they cleaned it twice. We had to ask for clean towels and toilet paper. They don’t clean the bathroom properly. The hotel is run down and appears they want your money but don’t want to give you anything for it. I would never recommend this hotel.
Unfortunately, I can’t say I liked anything about this property , the one thing that may be ok was it was easy to get to , and if you wanted you could walk to the pier etc.
The condition of the property was poor, the room had blood on the walls the bin had not been emptied before I arrived, there was no toilet paper. The bed was very uncomfortable, there sheets had hairs and dirt on them. The room and bedding had obviously not been cleaned in who knows how long , it had what felt like sand on the bed. The furniture was broken and literally falling apart . The light in the toilet would only someone’s work, the shower did not look clean and the whole bathroom was very small. The picture of the room on the site was not at all like the room given. I did not like that the parking fee and pet fee were both hidden until arrival and that these hidden fees were also only allowed to be paid in cash as card payment was not accepted. The staff were unwelcoming and unfriendly and did not explain anything about finding my room or about breakfast or dinner and seemed as if I was more of a bother for them as they had to do something. Staff seemed unprofessional and unappealing to approach. Also the tv would not let you watch even basic free channels as it has no internet connection which I’m guessing would have been another hidden fee just to be able to watch free tv channels. I have had rooms as cheap as this many times and this was easily by FAR the worst I have ever stayed in. I highly recommend anyone to look elsewhere for a room.
Breakfast was good
Room 218 had dirty toilet and blood stain on mattress protector
Very comfortable bed.
Clean.
Very small corridors, and fast closing fire doors!
Lift was very small too.
Felt like a maze to find rooms.
Maintenance work required in areas to make the standard a little higher.
Soap not even provided to wash your hands in bathroom!
Honestly there was nothing regarding the hotel that we liked; the only good thing was the staff member that greeted us, he was kind and smiley!
The location is fine is you enjoy long walks, but it’s in an area that is a little rough. On arrival I got my two ready for bed and ordered pizza as we’d have a 5 hour drive and had to be up early the next morning for an event, I collected my order and came back to find a printed bit of paper stating “no food beyond this point” - so no food at all in the rooms, this made life very difficult, I spoke to a staff member who allowed me on that occassion to take up the pizza if I brought the rubbish down straight after which was fine but staying Friday-Sunday with the kids not allowed food in the room was not ideal..
when I went to go to bed I realised there was dried blood over my bed sheets, I went down to speak to someone to explain and said that my children were already in bed asleep, they seemed unbothered but did change it the following day for me at my request, I am sure that they would have done it there and then had my children not been asleep already but it was on the top sheet so noticeable! Safe to say that was the worst night sleep I had and the beds sadly are very uncomfortable too!
The “evening entertainment” is not suitable for families as stated, it’s very loud and rowdy.
As a final note, Sunday morning at 5.30am we had someone trying to get into our room in a rather aggressive manner. Luckily myself and my husband were awake with our children as we had an event to get to for 6.30am. We waited to see if it would stop, which is didn’t, so my husband approached the door, unlocked it to confront whoever it was as the children were becoming a bit scared. The look on my husbands face and the panic for him to shut the door shocked me, there crouched on the floor was a very intoxicated woman appearing to undress outside our room.
Nathan was amazing 👏
Everything was brilliant from the staff to the location
