Nice clean hotel with kitchenettes & convenience of Denny's as their restaurant
Pros:

Clean rooms with large microwave & fridge, two burners with pots, pans, plates, cutlery, etc. is a nice option for those staying for multiple nights. Friendly helpful staff and complimentary cookies on occasion at the front desk are nice.

However, the complimentary breakfast wears thin pretty fast. Changing the warm food options on occasion would be nice. Eating the same cubed potatoes and overcooked scrambled eggs gets redundant after three mornings for those staying for week or more. While the 10% discount coupons for Denny's is an option (although not open 24 hrs), other hotels (e.g., Pomeroy) at least change the eggs & potatoes option every morning for their complimentary breakfast.

Also, I pointed out some dried food stuck to a "clean" plate to the staff who then apologized & proceeded to just wipe it off with a napkin & put it back on the clean plate stack. This is a No-No in the food service industry - the plate should have been placed with the other dirty plates to be properly washed.

Unexpected luxury and wonderful hospitality
Pros:

This hotel was a big step up from what we expected. We were greeted by the lovely Christie at the front desk. We were warmly welcomed by her. She was able to check us in, even though we were a few minutes early. We were upgraded (for a very small fee) to a beautiful two bedroom suite. We were able to relax and even get some work done on the spacious desk. The beds were super comfortable and the shower was great. From the fourth floor we had a view of a nice residential area. This was so soothing and calming. The hotel felt like it was a class above. The room felt luxurious. In the morning check out was done for us. The final bill was delivered to the room. And most important of all we were once again greeted by cheerful Christie. A highlight of our trip to Canada. She is the prime example of true hospitality and professionalism. If almost consider booking another plane ticket from Europe to Fort St. John just to enjoy this hotel again. 10/10

Are stay was very good and comfortable after a long day of flying.

Do not stay if Disabled
Pros:

If you are disabled do not stay here. Front desk lady was so rude. Refused to call her manager. I call BW corporate after she refused to help with the cart because I'm unable to push it. She said this isn't a five hotel and we don't help disabled people. I waited an hour before she would push a cart just out side so I can put my stuff on cart for her to literally push it around the corner from front desk. Then she pushed the cart into room and I unloaded it. Then had to go back out ask her to remove the cart. She said we'll did you unload it. She also said she doesn't like dogs. She should not be allowed to work at a hotel that allows dogs. This was my fathers service dog who died and I am taking it back home with me. I stay at Best Western all the time and have never been so mistreated. Couple stays away from Diamond Select. This is an awful way to treat a disabled customer. I did try to cancel but my room was non refundable from booking on best western site.

Cons:

I was surprised that none of the suites (other than the handicapped ones) had bathtubs!!!!! I really loved so many things about this hotel but next time would choose a hotel with a bathtub.
it would have been nice to see more work from local artists on the walls. FSJ has some outstanding artists!
