They did not respect the hotel reservation... I had to pay extra for another room... Bad service... I do not recomend this hotel at all... I've travel a lot for years and this is my first bad experience... Kind of racist staff...
I stayed in Hotel Alifer 20 days during my trip to Tlaxcala to participate in their City's annual Festival of Puppetry and i felt comfortable with my stay. The hotel is in the historic town and wwithn walking distance to the old quarter. Rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable, limited amenity setup in bathroom (but of course you cannot expect more from the same class of hotel). Poor wifi internet connection in some far-from-reception rooms (i had to use my friend's room and lobby to connect to internet). Internet is free. They have one small restaurant at the ground floor, breakfast is simple. Staff are friendly and helpful. They let me cook Vietnamese food in their kitchen for International guests. Thank you very much for your hospitality. In general i recommend this hotel as a comfortable accommodation at good price and friendly service. I will comeback when possible.
Room was clean but staff was completely unhelpful in every respect. No drinking water available, no one to help with heavy bag, no one in restaurant to serve meals, I could say more. Next time I'll stay at the Mision San Francisco a block away, a much nicer place with some service.
If you avoid the room above the nightclub facing Xicotencatl, you can enjoy clean, comfortable, modern rooms up the hill from the plazas on the northeast end of town just up from the Plaza de Toros and a good breakfast bet, the Tirol. Every time I stay in the Alifer they seem to have added on a new annex or wing, so popular is this place with Chilangos who slip over to Tlax for a weekend romp. I've never been shown some of the first floor rooms that tour guide books tell you to avoid, so I cannot say, but I have been to Tlax four times now and have never had a bad room here. There are less expensive digs (and plenty that cost a lot more) but Chilangos know value when they see it.
I stayed here for two nights during a visit to this quaint little town, my room was big, and without a lot of features, but had good internet connection, and enough for a weekend stay, ....as you will spend most of your time outside, enjoying the city or the ruins nearby.
The bathroom was enough and the hot water took some time to come out, and then it was fine and enjoyable, a pity that only they provide you with soap, but apart from that it was fairly clean.
The hotel is located just two blocks from the main square and museums and eateries, has a good and safe parking, and for the low price it is a good option, apart that the town and state are worth for the nearby arqueological sites, especially, Cacaxtla, very impressive site.
We cannot really share that opinion. We think it was amazingly clean and nice considering the fact that they have very decent prices. Sure, rooms are relatively basic but in comparison with other places in mexico where you end up paying the same it is absolutely fine. We would definately recommend staying there if you are short on budget (obviously you could stay Posada San Francisco, but thats just a different price class and it is ridiculous to compare it at all to Alifer)
The Alifer has a good location and the rooms are adequate, but given the rate is just US$30/night I wasn't surprised to find our room was extremely basic, even spartan. No shampoo provided (just towels and two bars of soap), no dresser, just a rod to hang clothes from (i.e., no real closet), and a semi-clean bathroom upon arrival (I took to using antibacterial hand gel to clean off the counter before using), etc. We were rarely in our room so we didn't really mind, but if you have the extra cash I would recommend staying at the Posada San Francisco a few blocks away..
