Raw Love Cafe, yoga, friendly staff
The seaweed- no fault of theirs. Bad music in the main restaurant. Lack of variety of food in main restaurant and bar.
Me pareció un hermoso lugar. Limpieza diaria.
Lovely villas and the staff were very friendly and helpful when you need anything at all.
Being charged for additional water at that price point is unusual. At least a couple of complimentary bottles of water per day is standard even in much cheaper accommodation. Facilities are very run down (beach chairs etc torn cushions, wood stain worn) our drink fridge was broken and had to be replaced.
Has potential, but needs a lot of improvements.
The service was disappointing and inconsistent throughout my stay.
There was no drinking water provided in the room at any point, and no clear communication at check-in on how to access water. I was later told to use a refill station, which had not been explained, and on one occasion was offered a paper cup for water. This is below expected standards, particularly in a hot climate where water is a basic necessity.
Communication from staff was also poor. Responses felt dismissive and lacked ownership, and overall the staff were not particularly welcoming or helpful.
In addition, a 20% tip was added without being clearly communicated, which I found inappropriate and not transparent. This was at the restaurant next to the pool area.
I was also asked to pay additional taxes on arrival, despite already paying a city tax through Booking.com. This was not clearly explained and felt inconsistent and lacking in transparency.
Overall, the experience did not feel relaxing. Due to the repeated issues with service, communication, and charges, I felt on edge throughout my stay rather than able to fully unwind.
Personeel is zeer vriendelijk, kamers waren erg schoon.
The hotel is very good, but the area is really not tourist friendly. People try to rip you off everywhere, even the police. Even when you want to park your bicycle people already force you to pay. Also at every place you go, they charge you so much, even more than Miami prices..! It’s sad because the staff is probably reliant on tips. The nature and food are beautiful and good, but overall I wouldn’t recommend to go to Tulum. The rip off and scam environment really ruined my experience!
I loved the location
The room was full of bugs
The beach was beautiful. You could walk anywhere and find a place to sit and look at the water. All of the people working there were extremely helpful and pleasant. We loved the beach area with the infinity pool and the awesome food. We would stay there stay there again.
Sargassum, however, I understand this is something that can’t be controlled at certain times of the year. But I understand as well that all staff are involved in getting rid of the sargassum and ensuring the beaches are clear for guests.
The property of Maya Tulum is absolutely gorgeous and beautifully maintained. We loved that the grounds had mangroves and palm trees and water features. The cabanas were very clean and attractive and had good privacy. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. We loved the 3 onsite restaurants were excellent and the service was very friendly. We especially enjoyed our server, Rodger, at Embarcada beach club. He was super friendly and had great suggestions on things to do in the area. Coffee and breakfast at the Raw Love Cafe was excellent.
I felt like the front desk concierge staff could be more informative and helpful regarding both the services and activities that are available both on the property and in the surrounding area-- such as possible tours and sight seeing opportunities and restaurants. We were also disappointed by how expensive everything was in the hotel zone of Tulum Beach. We were also informed that we would be provided with bottles of fresh drinking water daily but we had to keep requesting it from the front desk.
The restaurant was nice
The entire property grounds were derlict. Staff scammed me out of money when I booked. They pretended I booked a more expensive room then pretended they upgraded me to it for free. The hotel grounds were very unsafe - elecrical wires exposed, sharp shrapnel pieces of wood everywhere, dirty water, wires hanging from cabling at the top, dirty water in pools, sargassum seaweed piled as high as I have ever seen it in Tulum - extremely bad for your health to breathe in. Beach loungers dirty and falling apart. The room we went to view before leaving had water leaking from the toilet. It was a disaster. Shame as it could be so nice, but clearly they ran out of money.
