Pros:

No hot water in the bathroom in this bare bones hotel that benefits from a polite staff and a superb location within three blocks of the Wenshu Monastery. Hotel needs renovation -- the door frame was disintegrating in the bathroom. You get a hot water heater but no tea bags. It's probably a one or two star hotel that claims to be three. At least the price was right and the beds were comfortable futons.

Pros:

Hotel is for those on a budget. Breakfast is not amazing and very very simple. Only plain porridge and some bread rolls and some vegetables. No boiling kettle in room and no tea or coffee in room. No bottled water in room. Restaurants are just opposite the hotel. Public transport is not easy. Only taxis / cabs there and you need to know how to speak Chinese too. Small hotel with not much to offer.

Pros:

Good, but needs some renovation
Pros:

We had a good time at this hotel, although the place is a bit tired and in need of an upgrade, it was within walking distance of the subway which was great. Breakfast was decent, although you have to ask for a meal coupon each day for this.
Downside was that we were given a twin room instead of a double, and the toilet in our bathroom needed fixing!

Overall recommendable hotel
Pros:

There are many positives to this hotel however there are also a number of negatives. The good things are the staff were very friendly and helpful (the reception arranged a panda tour for us at a very reasonable price- i would recommend this), the bedding and towels were clean and the room was made up everyday. The location is also fantastic, close to wenshu monastary, a great tourist attraction and area with many iconic famous chengdu restaurants. The negatives are the bathroom wet room style shower didnt drain properly (the floor is completely flat) so the whole bathroom floor would be flooded, thus also a mould problem on the bathroom tiles. Some areas of cleanliness throughout the hotel could also be improved though it doesn’t smell as smokey as some chinese hotels often can. Overall for the price it’s difficult to complain about, as long as you can deal with a few small issues. It’s a particularly good base for backpackers.

Small room, but great staff & location.
Pros:

the staff is amazing. Makes up for the lack of closets or drawers to put your clothes into. Room is a bit small especially when you need to live out of your suitcase due to the lack of storage options. HOWEVER, the incredible staff makes up for it.

The staff helped me with a relatively involved transport to Dujianyan, 70 km (45 miles) away. They also make the arrnagements for me to do the Dujianyan Panda volunteer program PLUS having the driver make a side trip to pick up a running race packet also in Dujianyan.

One front desk woman, wrote helped me choose a small very inexpensive restaurant nearby and even wrote down a recommended dish for me in Chinese which was incredibly helpful.

Most of the staff spoke English pretty well.

Breakfast was nothing special but adequate and has a nice outddor eating area.

LOCATION - close to the Wenshu Temple and about 300 meteres from the river along which I ran a couple of times. Acrosss the street is a very nice street with many open-air restaurants where I ate quite well.

This is the 2nd time I"ve stayed here and would stay here again.

Pros:

Friendly staff with very good English ability. Located near a very nice open block of restaurants with plenty of choice to enjoy some great Chengdu cuisine. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful about local sightseeing. Room had it's own fridge and was spacious, self help laundry facilities were convenient. Definitely one of the best hotels I've stayed at in China.

Pros:

Sam cozy hotel is ok for the price. The service is great. The receptionists are polite and helpful. The breakfast is pretty sad, for the price we paid, I shouldn't expect too much.
The hotel is located in the old town, a little shabby and messy.

Would stay again
Pros:

Nice hotel in a good location, 5 minutes to closest subway station. There's a lot of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Airport pickup is ¥120 and takes around 40 minutes. Wish we upgraded to a room with a window. Breakfast is simple but good and the lunch menu is cheap and tasty.

Very nice hotel, great location, helpful staff
Pros:

Nice place - very comfortable except for the mosquitoes (not specific to his hotel of course). I mentioned this to the front desk and they informed me that there was an electric mosquito device in the room and to look for it. When I got back to my room later that day, someone had put it on the table for me!

The staff was helpful even to the extent of writing a note for me in Chinese for the movie theater at the corner.
Staff is wonderful.

Location is great - just off a main boulevard where you can catch the bus to the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Center (Bus 64, change to line 87 at the zoo stop). The nearest metro is about a 4 or 5 block walk away past some interesting buildings that appear to be new buildings built in the old Chinese style.

Across the street and slight to the right of the entrance is a wonderful open air restaurant pedestrian mall which was a delight. The only issue with eating in the open air was the mosquitoes! See the pic of my whole fish dish - HUGE & delicious from the open air restaurant closest to the hotel.

Breakfast was just OK with a charge for coffee (15 CNY ~ $2.25 USD)

Bed was nice, AC worked well, shower was great. This was yet another hotel in China where the bathroom as GLASS WALLS whereby the person in the bed area can see INTO the bathroom. Fortunately, there is a blind that can be closed, but the blind is on the OUTSIDE of the glass wall - very bizarre design!

Amazing Staff
Pros:

I found the staff where very patient and accommodating with me. They took there time to listen and it was wonderful to have 2 staff members who both spoke English well. The one made a call for me to help with a problem booking with my next hotel. One took time to draw me a map of a place she recommended for me.
Would tell everyone go here!!!

Ok hotel but the staff was so nice!!!
Pros:

The room was not bad, there was a strange smell coming from the open shower drain and I heard others complain about it, but I just put a washcloth over the drain and that eliminated the problem. The beds were hard, very typical of China, but the staff was so nice and so helpful. I would be happy to stay there again on my next trip to Chengdu.
