We were offered coffee and water on arrival which was nice.

Cons:

We were given a completely different room from the one we had booked and paid for several months in advance.

The room was a very small attic room on the 8th floor, while the elevator only goes up to the 7th floor. It was extremely overheated and had no normal windows. The only window was in the ceiling, facing the sky, so there was no view at all, and it could not be opened.

We immediately complained that this room did not correspond to what we had booked. The staff basically confirmed this and explained that the hotel was overbooked and no other rooms were available. The only solution they offered was to cancel our booking and refund the money. No alternative accommodation or any other assistance was offered.

Fortunately, despite it being high season, I managed to find an available room in a nearby hotel myself.

This was a very disappointing experience and, in my opinion, an unacceptable way to treat a customer, especially considering that our stay had been booked and fully paid several months in advance. If the hotel accepts and confirms a reservation, the customer should reasonably expect to receive the room they booked, not whatever room happens to be left because of overbooking.
