Third time I've stayed there overnight in the last few months, simple and efficient check in/out, staff always pleasant and efficient, rooms always clean. Excellent value.
Loved the king room with a view we had. Was way above our expectations of what we’d see. Having a bath in the room and the size of the room was amazing.
Didn’t serve food. So couldnt have breakfast there. Not the properties fault but not only being at the top of the hill. Our beautiful room was up loads of stairs too and wasn’t sheltered to walk from the “cottage” to the main hotel in the rain
That’s all that was good was the location.
Very basic another room with a wardrobe stuck against an adjoining room not good. The curtains were like tissue paper just awful won’t be coming back.

The positives, The Bedding was clean & the bed was comfortable, the Room was a decent size, after we moved to the Room we booked & not the room they allocated us!
Hot water was plentiful.
The reception staff were all friendly & helpful.
The Hotel itself is miss advertising its facilities tho!
There's no bistro & you can't get breakfast in the morning.
The hotel needs a good thorough clean & some TLC,
It's halfway down a steep hill, so if you're bad on your legs it's not for you, Barry Island is a short drive away & so is Asda,
I probably wouldn't stop again, but for the money it was bearable for 4 nights.

It didn’t feel spotless, quite tired and bare.
The staff are super welcoming and friendly and were really obliging when we asked for extra pillows.
The property is okay but clearly needs freshening up in certain areas.
We got what we paid for which was a basic room so no little extras other than tea/coffee making facility and a hairdryer but the room was well laid out and had good furniture and a full length mirror.
The hotel is in a nice area and really close to the local high street which has some really nice shops and a cracking little cafe (Millie Jo's) which is the only food place open on a Sunday so we had breakfast there as not available at the hotel.
The hotel has a Bistro room with a kitchen containing white goods and a seating area but we didn't use it.
We didn't use the pool or gym either so cannot comment on them but good to know they were there if we wanted to.
There was a rail in the room but no hangers and no coat hooks either.
There was a small pedestal bin in the room but no bin was provided in the bathroom.
No sockets by the bed but there was ample available on the dressing table.
The bed was not great - could feel the springs in the mattress.
We found a small bug in one of the bath towels - they had clearly been laundered so think this is probably due to where they are being stored by housekeeping.
Good location
The bed had the springiest mattress I’ve ever slept on, there was only one thin pillow to sleep on, the whole room smelt like sewage from the shower and there was a loud grinding noise all night from what I can assume is other rooms flushing their toilets. It was one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in for comfort, sorry!
Warm welcome from reception staff. Very comfortable bed for an overnight stay. Quiet location but near to amenities.
No on site parking available on this occasion, but I managed to find street parking a short walk away.
No shower gel & the handwash receptacle was broken.
Even though we only stayed for one night with a late check-in, we had a good experience at The Mount Rooms. The room was comfortable and came with everything we needed, making it a perfect short stay .
The staff was very accommodating, helping us settle in smoothly despite the late arrival . Their friendly and helpful attitude really made our stay more pleasant.
Another big plus is the location, The Mount Rooms is very close to Barry train station, offering easy access for travelers arriving by rail . This makes it convenient for both locals and visitors exploring the area.
Overall, it’s a great option for a comfortable, hassle-free stay near Barry.

It’s location was central for my needs.
Perhaps they could change the lobby mat because I did have a slip on the marble floor as it was raining outside
