From the moment we arrived until the time we checked out, our stay at the Dewberry was exceptional. Every member of the staff was genuinely warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful, making us feel like valued guests throughout our visit.
Our room was beautifully appointed with thoughtful details and timeless elegance, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in—absolutely dreamy. Every aspect of the room reflected the luxury and attention to detail that make the Dewberry so special.
Our evening at Citrus was the perfect way to end the day. The views were stunning, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the overall experience was unforgettable. It truly captures the charm and beauty of Charleston.
We also stopped by the hotel shop to purchase the Dewberry's signature candles, and the shop manager was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, informative, and incredibly helpful, taking the time to share the story behind the candles and making the experience just as memorable as the rest of our stay.
Although we only stayed for one night, we left wishing we had booked a longer visit. We can't wait to return and experience the Dewberry again and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Charleston.
Every hotel staff member was very kind and helpful! Room was clean and spatious
Hands down one of the worst FHR properties we’ve stayed at. Policies make you pay to use credits. They don’t cover tax or gratuity. So my $60 breakfast credit cost me $4.65 to use on my $51 breakfast. Nothing personable about the day. Don’t expect them to know your name or to care. Rooftop restaurant is 21 and up. Their food is smaller that a quarter. I paid $22 for the ceviche tacos. I’d understand if they were dollar tacos. Nope- I received three that were each smaller than a half dollar. The rooms and decor are very outdated. It may have been fashionable in the 70s. Some valet are snarky.
Only upsides are Noelle at the restaurant on the ground floor and the gentleman working the front desk.
Never again. Stay at Hotel Bennett or Zero George.
The property was nice and clean.
The rooms were a little small.
This is the second time staying at the Dewberry. Both times our stay was fantastic. In my experience, often at luxury hotels you will find some staff not following the script, but not here. Everyone was perfect. Management has done well.
Everything at the Dewberry was amazing! The service, care and everything was top level! Kimberly and her staff were amazing help with food, things to do, and made the most of our stay! Sending the warm cookies, milk and Champagne the first night was one of our favorite things from the whole trip!
Everything about my stay at the Dewberry was lovely. Friendly, accommodating staff. Beautifully appointed rooms. Comfortable beds. Central location that made it possible to walk everywhere. Fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies delivered to my room at 11pm. Would 10/10 stay here again.
The fitness room doesn't have dumbbells or strength-training machines -- only cardio machines.
We stayed at the Dewberry for my daughter’s wedding. The rooms were comfortable and spacious and the service was exceptional. The Living Room was our preferred hangout and we loved being able to relax and grab a spectacular drink. Oh….and the cookies - MUST HAVE! Can’t wait to return!!
This hotel is a true gem. Stayed here for a girls weekend trip and it's within walking distance to many restaurants, cocktail bars, sights, etc. Staff was warm and welcoming, room was beautifully decorated, spacious bathroom, and comfy beds. The evening vibe at the lobby bar is hopping with activity, yet the same lobby is peaceful and comfortable in the morning where we ate our delicious breakfast. We tried the Citrus Club for a cocktail - what a view and also one of the best cocktails I've ever tasted. Friend appreciated the mocktail offerings. Would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend.
Great hotel and location but overpriced
Valet lost my car keys and refuses to help. I was repeatedly told to check the cup holder when clearly it wasn’t in there
The Dewberry was the perfect home base for our Charleston trip. Beautiful interiors, great service, and an unbeatable location. We loved the vibe and the attention to detail throughout the hotel. Would absolutely stay again.
Most amazing staff, gorgeous rooms, incredible views from the rooftop of Charleston, and the kindness of the staff was exceptional. I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel for anyone wanting to have the best experience.
Highly recommend! My husband and I stayed here for a quick three night getaway. It was an awesome location and the staff were amazing. Great drinks and food in the living room and Citrus Club. Loved it!
Arrived to the most delicious birthday cake ever that the hotel was kind enough to leave in my room. Loved every minute spent at the Dewberry!
As someone in the architecture and design field, my stay at The Dewberry Charleston was incredibly inspiring. The hotel strikes a rare balance between timeless elegance and restraint, with every space feeling intentional and layered. The attention to proportion, materiality, lighting, and atmosphere is exceptional. Beyond the beautiful design, the hospitality and overall experience were equally thoughtful.
Beautiful hotel, rooms and service. For the price though the gym is really bad and the in room hair dryer and vanity kits are poor quality.
There are hotels that are beautiful, and then there are properties that understand emotional pacing, atmosphere, and restraint. The Dewberry Charleston belongs firmly in the latter category.
What continues to distinguish The Dewberry is not simply its design, but the discipline behind it. Nothing feels excessive, forced, or performative. The property allows texture, architecture, lighting, sound, and service to quietly speak for themselves, which is considerably more difficult to achieve than overt luxury.
As someone who studies environments professionally through photography and event documentation, I notice details many guests may overlook. The transition from the lobby into the living room spaces feels intentionally softened rather than abrupt. The seating arrangements encourage conversation without overcrowding the room. Even the lighting temperature throughout the property remains remarkably consistent, which subtly affects how relaxed guests feel within the environment.
The guest experience also feels exceptionally well-calibrated. Staff presence is attentive without hovering, polished without feeling rehearsed. That balance is rare.
One detail I particularly appreciated was how beautifully the property handles natural light throughout the day. Morning light feels calm and restorative, while evenings settle into a richer, more intimate atmosphere that translates exceptionally well for weddings, executive gatherings, and refined social events. Few properties transition emotionally from day to evening as gracefully as The Dewberry.
For couples considering wedding weekends or luxury events in Charleston, this matters more than people realize. A property should not merely accommodate guests, it should shape how they remember the experience emotionally.
The Dewberry does that exceptionally well.
