My wife and I went to Charleston for the first time over Valentines Day weekend and we had an amazing time. Hotel staff was incredible all the way around. They gave us so many ideas to do, where to eat and what to visit. We loved every minute of our trip. Our only disappointment was the fact that 4 days was not enough time to get in all that we wanted to do. Looking forward to our return trip back to the Dewberry!
Dewberry is always 10/10. One of my favorite hotels in America! Excellent service. Great location. Amazingly kind staff. Thank you for a great Valentine's Day weekend and SEWE experience.
The Dewberry is are top hotel in Charleston after several visits at other properties. It's design, staff and location are top notch. Highly recommend.
When I had the opportunity to visit Charleston, I knew that I wanted to stay at the Dewberry. I have been inside the first-floor bar after the Thanksgiving Day 5ks and the Copper River 10k, and even though I was in running attire, the staff always treated me and my family with warmth and respect. That level of professionalism and hospitality has continued. I appreciated the concierge's help with getting a table at the Citrus Club for a party of seven. The room was cozy, and the robe and slippers I found there added to the welcoming atmosphere after a rainy January Sunday. I look forward to my next stay at this beautiful hotel.
Staff was incredibly friendly and the room and building were beautiful. Loved the coffee in the lobby every morning, our spa experience and the late night hours for the Living Room.
2nd visit within a couple months. The Dewberry has become our property of choice when visiting Charleston. Unbeatable location and everyone we encountered during out stay had a welcoming spirit. Rooms are modern in design and very well kept.
A fantastic hotel in the heart of Charleston. Great service and amenities, and very walkable to shops and restaurants. Loved the rooftop bar, and the breakfast was excellent. Highly recommend for your next visit!
Hotel confortável. Perto de restaurantes.
Unrivaled in terms of location, staff, beauty, comfort, amenities, I could go on and on. We refuse to stay anywhere else. The bathroom is beautiful and the bed is so comfortable! Thank you!
I’ll start with the positive. The decor is a cool vibe with mid century modern aesthetics/furniture throughout. Top floor is an outdoor terrace with limited food and drinks, but a great view of the Ravenel bridge and Charleston harbor. Downstairs is a large area with bar and open seating that creates a very inviting night time scene.
All staff were quite friendly, despite the crowds (we visited over Christmas, and with Santa there for the kids, it was a pretty hectic weekend between parents/children). Another positive was the location, which allows for walking most anywhere in the historic area/Charleston peninsula.
The downside to the property was room noise (we could hear others in their rooms, no doubt they could hear us) and a perpetual hot water issue as showers would get warm however the room had no hot water. In our 3 nights, It was mentioned 3x to reception staff without change. However, after I noted it in my post visit e-survey, I received a note from the manager apologizing and offering better next time. At this price point, there won’t be a next time- when you’re charging $700+ a night, guests should have, at the minimum, quiet rooms and hot water. There are too many fine competitors all in close proximity, so The Dewberry will be removed from our stay list, and I can’t say I’d recommend. It’s a great property to visit for a drink and check out, but the staying guest experience was not what one expects for an upper tier property. I really wanted to like it, but honesty compels me to report otherwise.
Best hotel in Charleston - beautiful rooms, warm cookies & milk, lovely staff and fantastic house car service. Will return again soon!
First visit to the Dewberry for anniversary and Christmas. First of all the location is perfect. Across the Francis Marion Square from the bustle of King Street, so it’s very private, but close to all the action if you want. We loved all the natural decor with the wilderness Christmas tree and all of the forestry accents throughout the decorations. Urban Electric fixtures has a unique relationship with the hotel and make it a stand out among a sea of boring builder grade fixtures in other hotels! Gorgeous! Our Charleston flat room was one of the best we’ve ever stayed in, with a large velvet sofa for lounging at any point. The bathroom was large and spacious with a double sink and we loved the shelf above the sink with ample room for any storage. The tub and shower room was well worth the upgrade and shareable. The service was attentive, with some little extra touches that made our stay special. Make sure that you get a Dewberry candle for your stay and with the gift shop closed on Christmas, they gave us some free Dewberry tea, which we had every night for room service. The hotel car is very convenient, so please take advantage of that. And the Dewberry spa is a must. Our treatments were the best we’ve ever had with more Dewberry tea available throughout. The bar in the living room is a standout with custom made cocktails that are worth the wait! The hotel restaurant is getting a makeover, so the living room is doing extra duty to provide all the food for the hotel, so see our separate review there. Despite the heavier load, the bartenders like Chris and the servers like Madison are doing their best to make everyone welcome! We can’t wait to return!
Wed loved our 11 day stay, over Christmas, at the Dewberry. From first drive up to final departure every staff member was super friendly and helpful. They truly made us feel welcome and valued. The Living Room is a different concept and it is wonderful. Sitting there on comfortable chairs or couch that look and feel like something you would have in your own living room, admiring the huge Christmas tree and decorations, eating unbelievably good pastries and drinking a unique and delicious coffee, made us feel, well, at home. And I think that must be the overall theme. Everything looks comfy and more "homey" than you experience at most upscale hotels. Understated rather than overdone, brushed as opposed to shiny, but all very tasteful and of top quality. The location could not be better, and for our stay this time our Charleston Flat room overlooked the Square, with its giant Christmas tree of lights. Everything about the room was great, the furnishings, the bed, the bath, the linens. The entire hotel is kept spotless. Valets apologized if it took them like a minute to get your car, literally running to get your car. All with a smile. Everyone on staff is just so friendly and helpful. They truly make you feel welcomed and valued. For a hotel at this level, with the level of service received, we consider the Dewberry to be an excellent value. We can't recommend the Dewberry any higher. It is wonderful.
The Dewberry is unequivocally the most wonderful hotel in Charleston. It has the feel of a boutique hotel, with an elevated customer service and properly decor experience. Absolutely wonderful!
Both the property and hospitality exceeded my expectations. I found the hotel using the Michelin guide and booked via Amex travel. Upon arrival, Daniel checked us in and acquainted us with the property and some of the included amenities. He asked several questions about our plans and let us know there was a concierge to assist. About 20 mins after getting settled the concierge called and offered us a reservation to a restaurant we said we wanted to go and didn’t have a seating at the preferred time, but thanks to the Dewberry team, we then did. The rooms are very nice, the bedroom isn’t large but the bathrooms are. I plan on another weekend at the Dewberry!
Another great stay at The Dewberry. Even in a smaller room, the quality and comfort were just as exceptional as always. The Living Room remains a standout—the staff, the food, and the updated menu were fantastic. Looking forward to our next stay at Charleston’s best property.
The customer service was superb. Very polite and helpful.
I loved everything but the room size and style a bit small and dated for the price. Rooms are bigger at the Hampton.
The rooms are good but breakfast/the living room is not good.a lot of issues with priority and sitting area is not good for breakfast.
