Die Lage, das Ambiente.
Es war kühl im Zimmer; manchmal gans kein Warmwasser zum Duschen. Schade, dass das Personal bis zum letzten Tag nicht unsere Zimmernummer merken konnte. Auch, das die Speisekarte nie wechselte; es gab jeden Abend die selben Menüs. Auch bei der Sylvesterfeier hätten wir uns ein wenig mehr Tradition gewunschen.

The breakfast was appalling. The self service selection was visually and quality wise very disappointing. Likewise the cooked breakfast was over cooked and appeared to have been re- warmed, having been cooked previously.
See above. We were supposed to stay at the Mansfield but actually stayed at the Morangie. We were "upgraded" to a superior room, I dread to have stayed in a standard room. The bathroom was a disgrace.

Great location as only a short drive from the A9 & a short walk to the town centre. Cooked breakfast was a welcome surprise (thought it was just a continental breakfast). Evening meal - good menu choice & tasty. Nice bar area. Good car parking.
Although bar area was nice it was very chilly. Bedrooms, corridors etc are all very dated, hotel is stuck in a time warp. The route to the bedroom was very convoluted, upstairs, down a corridor, down some stairs then along a corridor.

The only thing we don’t like was that the rooms furniture was a bit dated nothing major but it was definitely quite old
We spent New Year’s and the following two days at the castle. It looks exactly like in the pictures — not the most modern place, but full of charm and character, with a clear attention to detail. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful; on the day of our departure, we were even driven to the train station, and Mr. Shearer kindly returned to the Castle just to take us there. Both breakfast and dinner were good, and they have a nice wine and whiskey selection.

Excellent value for money, decent size room, comfy bed good food and friendly staff.
The bar was a bit quiet, and I think it could be a bit more welcoming, possibly via a log fire to provide a focal point which might encourage more people to use the bar.
