As frequent travelers staying in similar hotel categories, we booked this hotel without hesitation given the positive reviews and the establishment’s website.
We had reserved a higher-category accommodation: a mini villa with a private pool. The unit assigned to us was located right next to the main pool and behind the kitchens. As a result, we experienced two evenings of live music, constant kitchen odors while trying to relax in our pool, and noise from kitchen operations, among other disturbances.
The day after our arrival, we reported our dissatisfaction to the reception, and again the following day (ahead of our third night). Management was responsive and offered us a room change to a more secluded and much quieter location, which we greatly appreciated.
However, management was already aware of this issue, as it had previously been reported to the owners. It is therefore disappointing that, when booking a 5-star hotel, one ends up in such a situation.
The rooms are tastefully decorated and relatively clean, although more attention could be paid to details (accumulation of insects in corners behind curtains, shower seals needing replacement, etc.). The bedding is comfortable, as is the seating area.
The breakfast area (as well as the restaurant area) is pleasant, with several tables offering sea views.
The common areas are aesthetically pleasing but very limited in size compared to the number of rooms. Clearly, there is not enough space for everyone.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay, but we would not return.
What a wonderful experience! We spent 5 amazing nights at this beautiful, tranquil hotel.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They couldn't do enough for us.
It is ideally located on the island. The Hornbill restaurant was amazing, but there were also really good restaurants a few minutes walk away.
What made it so unique was watching the Hornbill feed it's chicks in a tree right next to the pool.
Great location and amenities. The spa, island tour, pool, and kayaks were highlights.
This was the 5th hotel in our tour of Thailand...
Speedboat across to the island was great!
We had requested a high room to enjoy the fantastic views over the sea which didn't disappoint.
In addition to the views the room was the best we have stayed in and ticked every box- good size & lovely decor, big comfy bed, efficient aircon, fridge, great shower & bathroom, bedside tables, TV, all power points working and within reach plus a balcony drying rack for wet clothes.
Not everywhere we stayed offered all this despite being 4/5 star hotels!
Nice pool and no issues with sunbeds however you get your bed as you come out and can't reserve with towels.
Complimentary towels available plus cold infused water.
We just did breakfast which was tasty and well run.
The hotel organise various free activities and trips- we did the Island Tour & visited Laem Haad Beach which broke the days up nicely.
There are restaurants within walking distance and we really enjoyed Rice Paddy but you need to book as it gets busy.
All the staff at Kudu are polite and friendly.
Relaxed chilled out vibe away from the madness of some of our other destinations.
On our first day there were some complimentary cocktails and side plates of food for all guests which was a welcome surprise.
If you want to venture into the main town Reception will book a taxi but it's very quiet with only a 7/11 and a few bars plus a few Market stalls.
Better bars and restaurants near the hotel.
There are a couple of ATMs in main town if needed however the one outside 7/11 swallowed one of my bank cards!!
😫😫😫
Overall the hotel was excellent and we have really enjoyed it.
Thank you.
It is difficult to overstate how good the staff is and that is what makes the place.
Otherwise this rates as 4*. Food perfectly acceptable but not top end. Some areas are a little tired and, whilst nice enough, the poolside can get crowded. But lots of good things including gym and live music on several nights.
We enjoyed a fabulous stay at Cape Kudu, in a deluxe ocean view room. The room was spotless, with an amazing view. There were so many staff, all incredibly friendly and welcoming. Food and drinks were lovely, especially the breakfast, with a wide selection to choose from and the most delicious pastries I’ve ever tasted.
Watching the hornbill feed the mum and chick in the nest was a highlight as was observing two sunbirds building a nest near the adult swimming pool
Visited the Cape Spa whilst on holiday at this stunning hotel.
Had back massages from Nan and Pang and they were both excellent.
Both ladies took time to understand the type of massage I wanted for my aching back and each delivered exactly what I wanted. They were polite and very professional and each experience was a lovely period of calm.
Highly recommended. Thanks ladies.
This much-anticipated vacation exceeded all of our expectations. We were instantly met with a warm welcome by the extremely kind staff. Our room had a decent view of the ocean and we were pleasantly impressed by the breakfast. We also enjoyed the quiet and relaxing atmosphere by the pool. The entire staff offered great service and friendly faces. A special shoutout to Adha, who was so kind and always accommodating our requests. Reception was also helpful with transportation and excursion bookings. The complimentary activities as well as the private boat tours are a must-do. We hope to visit again.
We are just on our way home after an amazing week at Cape Kudu. Everything about this hotel is beautiful and so relaxing. Rooms are spacious with large balcony and loads of storage. Great buffet breakfast with the best croissants. View from pool area stunning and watching the hornbill feeding the chicks from nesting box was brilliant. The complimentary drive around island is a must. Finally the staff are so lovely and genuine, they are all an asset to this fabulous hotel and make it that extra bit special.
Our last stay at Cape Kudu was in December 2023 and we've been looking forward to returning ever since. We weren't disappointed.
We stayed 12 nights in a villa with private plunge pool and it was just as we remembered – comfortable, well-serviced and, courtesy of being surrounded by lush foliage, quiet and private. The bed was comfortable and we had some great nights' sleep. The jacuzzi feature of the pool made it a great place to cool off during the heat of the day and the large day-bed on the deck had some shade during the afternoons.
The hotel grounds might be small but the pool area is a fabulous place to watch the sunrise and to relax during the day, with great views and a resident hornbill, who is fun to watch coming and going to the nesting box. Swimming lengths here in the morning is a joy.
The Hornbill Restaurant is a largely open-air affair. Breakfast offers a wide choice, with eggs to order and a selection of hot local dishes that changes daily. i was able to find gluten-free options. A nice touch is the juice shots, my favourite of which was the turmeric. We had a couple of late lunches/early suppers at the restaurant, which were beautifully presented, tasty and reasonably priced, although the Yellow Snapper Curry had even my chilli-hardened husband gasping at the spiciness. A selection of cocktails is available at the daily Happy Hour. Within a short stroll (or scooter ride) is a choice of local eateries and bars, all at reasonable prices, as well as massage places and laundry services.
The most significant change since our last visit is the introduction of the hotel's private speedboat transfers from Phuket. This makes for a far superior experience to the overcrowded public service and provides an exhilarating start and finish to the stay.
And finally, the staff. Everyone is first class: Jenny, who welcomed us back and checked us in, speaks excellent English; Sao, in the restaurant each morning, was always smiling and quietly efficient; Plam makes the best decaf lattes; the young lad who helped us with parasols and deckchairs at the beach – and whose name I cannot now recall – was always enthusiastic and jolly . And Antoine was ... well ... Antoine! Cool, calm and collected, he is clearly in charge without necessary seeming so and genuinely interested in his guests.
Cape Kudu resort is one where you can be as active or as chilled as you want. There are complimentary island tours, bikes to borrow, scooters to hire locally. On this visit, we simply wanted to relax and unwind and I can honestly say it was mission achieved.
Should we be in this part of the world again, we wouldn't hesitate to return.
Good small hotel , a little careworn in places and sometimes a bit of traffic noise but most accommodation is along the main ring road on this small island so it should be expected.
Decent food and beverage choices , private beach area across the road, good standard rooms , clean , comfortable. But for us what elevates the hotel is the very friendly and extremely helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble , from restaurant reservations and directions , to expedient polite service , top to bottom excellence in all departments.
We didn't eat at the hotel every night, but we did snack and drink during the day, our bill at checkout was very reasonable. Complementary half day boat trip was a nice surprise.
For me personally the gym was a bit of a let down and needs modernisation.
We loved this beautiful boutique hotel, had a fabulous sea view room. The staff were wonderful and so helpful. Although there are families there is a small adult only pool. We had free trips to tour the island and try our hand at batik. Food was very good and there was a happy hour each day, weekends even champagne at breakfast!
All the staff made our stay truly memorable, special mentions to Rose, Abby, Sa and everybody although we didn’t catch or remember all your names. We truly want to come back.
A truly lovely small hotel with views to die for. The hotel staff were warm, attentive and personal, Antoine (General Manager) and his team were delightful and unpretentious hosts who made our stay so comfortable and trouble free, an unforgettable holiday.
Fantastic hotel, fantastic friendly staff and extremely helpful.
Breakfasts lovely, pool villa room was wonderful.
Can’t fault this hotel at all.
Lovely walk to good restaurants too.
If you're looking for a resort that wraps you in warmth from the moment you arrive — not just the tropical kind, but the genuine human kind — then Cape Kudu is your place.
We stayed in a top floor room with sea view.
What truly sets Cape Kudu apart is its people. Bee, the restaurant manager, runs his dining team with infectious energy and a smile that makes every meal feel like a celebration. Diana in reservations was an absolute godsend — she went above and beyond to help arrange our travel, making the whole journey seamless. Then there's Matthias, a kickboxing specialist whose enthusiasm is utterly contagious, and the ever-cheerful Anna, whose smiley presence brightened every encounter. Honestly, I could keep going — every single member of staff here is wonderful. It's rare to find a resort where warmth feels so completely genuine across the board.
The Spa deserves a special mention: blissfully air-conditioned (a true luxury in the Thai heat!), and they welcomed us with soothing tea and cool towels — a beautiful touch that set the tone perfectly.
Breakfast is simply marvellous — a real feast to start the day. And the resort's complimentary batik painting experience, was equally wonderful and well worth your time — a lovely, unhurried way to connect with local craft and culture.
Cape Kudu is the kind of place where you arrive as a guest and leave feeling like a friend. It's a pocket of quiet luxury where you can truly exhale, unwind, and soak in the beauty of Koh Yao Noi.
I did a facial treatment with Mai which was very professionnal and she ended with a neck and head massage. Thank you so much Mai
Amazing paradise for my family trip during Holiday season 2025.
The journey to this paradise is uneasy - taking a car to a pier, and then speed boat and local transfer, but it is truly worth to do and do it again and again.
We will definitely revisit this peaceful place where is wonderfully being maintained with super lovely staffs.
Location - 10 minutes from the pier, transfer costs 200-300 Baht.
Transport 100 Baht per person, more or less from & to anywhere on the island.
The view from the hotel is beyond amazing.
A lovely mix of 20-30 good restaurants and beach bars all within a 10 minute walk make this a perfect location, avoiding the need for transport at night.
Rooms - Garden villas and traditional 3 storey hotel blocks. Upper floors have the ocean views.
Bed was comfortable, TV, coffee making, stocked fridge with free water daily, prompt and efficient room service, safe, great a/c, reasonable sized wardrobes, plenty of drawers, sofa and European plug sockets. Bath robes and slippers.
Bathroom with both bath and walk-in shower and good water pressure, basic toiletries and basic hairdryer.
Food - Brilliant breakfast buffet. Evening restaurant was good but plenty of choice locally to suit all tastes
Externally we recommend Rice Paddy restaurant.
Amenities - Strong WiFi, Gym, pool beds with separate adults area, 2 pools. Complementary yoga and push bikes.
Service - Excellent, everyone was really friendly and helpful.
Summary - Not cheap but worth it. We will return.
The larger island Koh Yao Yai worth a trip if you have a motorbike. 10 minutes across by boat. Less touristy.
We arrived on the Island of Koh Yao Noi via speedboat transfer into Phang Nga Manoh Pier where we took a Taxi (200Baht) and around a 15 minute ride to Cape Kudu Hotel.
The hotel is located on the east of the island, having beautiful views over the sea and towards other islands in the distance.
The staff were wonderfully polite and friendly upon our arrival and gave us a tour of the facilities, including the swimming pool, dining facilities, gym and coffee shop. We were informed of activities that take place on a daily basis, which included litter picking along the beach which we thought was a great idea.
As we were early for check-in, we utilised the sun loungers positioned overlooking the sea and blissfully waited for our room to become available.
We had 4 nights in a “Deluxe Double or Twin Room with Ocean View”. These rooms are located within 3 separate tower blocks that are set towards the rear of the hotel.
The room was well equipped with air conditioning, mini bar, complimentary water and snacks, safe and a TV, and had a lovely balcony with hammock style seat with views out towards the ocean.
A breakfast was provided every morning offering a mix of continental and Asian choices, cereals, pastries etc. The coffee is ordered when stating your room number to the staff member, unfortunately on two of the days these never turned up due to how busy they were and that we don’t tend to spend much time over breakfast ourselves, and in this regard it would be nice to have just been able to grab our own hot drinks from a machine.
The hotel has a very corporate feel to it, chinos, polo shirts for staff, and just failed to give that sense of being on an idyllic island. And with that corporate high end feel to the hotel, it was a surprise to have the cereals and juices in cheap plastic containers.
We didn’t utilise the restaurant for any of the meals as there are so many options around the hotel all offering wonderful food and drinks.
All in all, a really nice hotel, offering a great location, and friendly staff. Just maybe not what we as a travelling couple are looking for from an island retreat hotel, but that’s not to detract from the hotel itself.
My husband and I spent 4 nights at Cape Kudu hotel on Koh Yao Noi. It was amazing, quiet and very relaxing. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. We were treated well. We really liked our room which had a view of the ocean and a chair hammock. It was lovely decorated with a beach theme. The room was clean and well kept. The aircon worked well on hot humid nights. We liked that the hotel offered free kayaking and bicycles to ride the island. The hotel offered cool drinks and happy hour. A shout out to Deed, Adha , Toey, A, Abby, Rot, Rose, Matthias, Diana for their awesome customer service and support.
