Like most hotels in Brunei, they are Poor value, Over Priced and Venice lodge was no exception. Quality of hotels is extremely limited and bare no comparison to hotels in Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, or Indonesia. Similar standard for that which I experienced at least 60% cheaper in other countries mentioned.
Fairly basic hotel, but quite adequate and good value for money. The bonus was the ability of the staff to convey messages while I was locked out of my phone, and to organise transport - and even to haggle with the driver on my behalf so that a return trip with designated pick up point and time was only 20 Brunei/Singapore dollars. The night market was an easy 15 minute walk in a cool evening. The store next to the hotel sold big bags of ice, which made the dozen cans of beer I brought with me a good idea! (Take note of the alcohol laws - very strict, but it's easy and legal to bring in the allowance if you are not a Muslim). A major plus: I was welcome to leave luggage in hotel, spend a few hours wandering downtown, and then come to the hotel for a swim and to get changed before going to airport in the free hotel transport. Well done hotel staff!
