We booked through Hotels.com and received our confirmation. Upon arrival, we were told at the hotel reception desk that the Oceanfront manager didn't have the reservation and didn't have any rooms available. We were also told by someone not associated with the hotel that it had happened before with Oceanfront. As the Aldea Thai building has space managed by many different agencies and the reception desk is general, I didn't get the chance to speak to the person who actually manages the Oceanfront properties at Aldea Thai. Hotels.com couldn't even get the manager on the phone to find out what happened. I highly recommend against booking this property and believe Hotels.com shouldn't book for them. It's not right to leave people hanging and without a room. I will say, however, that Hotels.com staff were very helpful in staying on the phone with us and finding another room. Thank you. We stayed at Aldea Thai by La Divina which is always wonderful with very professional and helpful staff, as well as lovely rooms. We're very thankful that our vacation wasn't ruined by the unprofessional, and seemingly unremorseful, Oceanfront management.
Nearly impossible to find this hotel as google GPS has the wrong address, plus it was very expensive for the ugly, stinky, old building. Our blankets were dirty, called to get new ones, they just came to do the beds with the same dirty blankets. I would never return to this hotel,
Todo muy bien, el hotel súper cerca de los mejores lugares tanto en la playa como en la 5ta! Aunque en lo particular mi habitación se veía un poquito descuidada... a cómo me había tocado en otras ocasiones.
Todo desde nuestra llegada fue excelente, la única recomendación es que unifique sus criterios y la información otorgada al momento de que uno como visitante llame para confirmar su reservación, fue en lo único que batallamos.

When we first arrived we had to wait for the administration to give us the room since it is a rental, but since we booked through Expedia we thought it would be charged trough them, they explained to us it was not and they will only give us key when the person in chargers arrived. Then he GBM us the room, it was horrible not at all as the pictures, very old, very dirty, the pillows where old, not fluffy at all. The complex is beautiful but we definitely would stick to chain hotels next time
Tuvimos una experiencia muy desafortunada. Primero que nada, nos robaron algunas pertenencias y nadie del hotel se hizo responsable. Hubo construcción en un cuarto cercano al nuestro ocasionando ruido durante el día, y por último, los dos últimos días los cuartos olían a cañería por un proceso de limpieza que hicieron en el hotel. El staff poco servicial, y el proceso de checkin con muchas oportunidades de mejora. Creo que hay mucho mejores opciones de hospedaje en Playa del Carmen, no les recomiendo Aldea Thai.
Una experiencia muy buena.. por parte de Cecilia y Luz un trato excelente e información de primera, excelente ubicación del hotel todo estaba a vuelta de la esquina.. gracias por todo
En general bien el bar de la alberca deberían de cerrar más tarde

El hotel es excelente y con una ubicación privilegiada. Al llegar nos dijeron que no tenían disponible la habitación que reservamos pero para compensarlo nos dieron un "upgrade" a una mucho mejor con alberca privada sin aumentarnos la tarifa. Me pareció un excelente servicio. Gracias por todo.
Rentamos un Deluxe Penthouse Beach view que todo fue mentira, el departamento estaba en condiciones deplorables, nos cambiaron a otro que estaba peor, las fotos son falsas.
La atención del administrador Gerardo que por cierto todo el tiempo esta drogado fue indignante, nos falto al respeto verbalmente, no hay agua caliente, es un precio excesivo por el servicio que ofrecen.
No aceptan pago con tarjeta solo efectivo, no dan comprobante fiscal. Al parecer es lavado de dinero y tiene contratadada como hostess a una argetina llamada Cecilia que al parecer esta de ilegal en el país.
Pesimo servicio, nunca limpiaron la habitacion, el encargado del hotel se metia a las habitaciones sin preguntar mientras dormiamos, y muchos detalles mas
Gerry was amazing! He took time out to give us a little tour of the area and answered all questions and offered suggestions of what to do and where to go. We were also upgraded to a penthouse with a private pool! Had an amazing time at Aldea Thai.
It was a great location. If enough people >4 I would recommend staying at the penthouse. It's beautiful. The vibe is more of an apart hotel which is great if you want to have a kitchen, buy food as well. That being said, for this same reason when we arrived we paid cash to the manager, not credit card. It was all fine but just something to be aware of. Overall good stay.
Booked this hotel for the final 2 nights of a 10 night trip to the Riviera Maya over christmas holiday. Worst experience of the 6 hotels we stayed out over that time. Biggest disappointment was that upon arrival, they had sold our room to someone else!!! There I was with my family at 8pm on December 29 (busiest time of the season) without anywhere to stay in Playa del Carmen. The concierge for the hotel mentioned that they always "overbook" and I got the sense what we were experiencing was part of their booking practices. He took us over to the adjacent property in the same building (La Divina at Aldea Thai) and we found a room that slept 2 people for just that one night. My 14-yr old son slept on the couch. Aldea Thai at Oceanfront didn't offer to pay for the room and we forked out the same amount of money despite it not sleeping 3 people. We were on the street for Dec 30. It gets worse. Only one block away was an annual event - DJ Fest - blasting electronic dance music from 1pm-12am every day between Dec. 29-31. The building was shaking and the room we took was directly across from the event. The hotel would have had every bit of knowledge that this event was taking place (annual event!) and yet mentioned nothing of this before we arrived. A father of a large family with many kids was there at the front desk at La Divina asking what they could do to go stay somewhere else. The place was chaos! Even worse... the room they gave us smelled so strongly of garbage/compost.
