Pros:

Nice hotel. Close to the beach, hotel room is old but large size compare to others.

Don’t go there. They need a lot of changes before it would be a nice stay.
Pros:

First of all the hotel is not English speaking friendly. Me and my girlfriend checked in and we had to talk to an app to translate from English to Mandarin. This was consistent during the whole stay. Once one of the receptionist couldn’t even guide us to the swimming pool. She just laughed and couldn’t answer.

Despite “no smoking” signs we saw people smoke at the corridors at the hotel floors anyway.

The hotel bathroom smelled like unclean toilet. I think it was something with the air conditioning, since the toilet was actually clean.

The breakfast buffet is very boring. It is almost only Chinese cuisine with hot dishes as we get for lunch and supper as well. Not a typical breakfast unfortunately.

The pool bar is bad and expensive. We got a cone ice cream that was in so bad stand, like it was to old and the cone was wet. We payed 6 RMB for a 0,33 water that we get for free in the hotel rooms.

There are not enough hotel sun beds in the pool area nor at the beach area.

All this sounds too bad to be true. But it was actually the experience we had in a 6 days stay.

5 star hotel!?
Pros:

A horrible visit and stay on the hotel. Unfortunately for 6 nights....
- The pictures online are lying. It is old and ugly inside. In the lobby there are so many playing machines, promotion signs and outside sightseeing companies sitting at desks. Looks like a circus.
- The room smelled so bad!! It took 3 days of open window and scents to have it decent. It smelled like no people had lived in the room for years.
- The personnel could speak NO English
- It was 90% Russian people living there; which meant that everyone spoke Russian to you and you felt like you were in Russia
- Poor beach! We found two empty sun beds ONE day.
- The breakfast was disgusting! Almost no western food and we tried to cancel it without luck.
- The area is not nice, but very dirty.

All in all, don’t go here!!! And don’t go to Sanya center! Find a bay outside the city.

Good hotel
Pros:

First impression not very good. Hotel lobby sofas very old, dirty and out of color. The entire lobby area is suffocating because of smoking scent. Corridor carpets in floor 11 are smelly. All this ends as soon as you enter inside the room. It's a place to be, very big and comfortable bed, tub and shower well equipped with all toiletries and extras to pamper yourself. Everything inside the room is heavenly, with enough literature to guide you about the hotel, the area, activities, banks, shopping areas etc. The buffet breakfast was awesome, with all kinds of food and drinks. Plenty of convenient shops dotted all round the hotel as well.

Nice
Pros:

The hotel room was big and nice. A little molded in the bathroom but that's typical for Chinese hotels. Overall it was clean and well kept as for housekeeping coming to clean. The breakfast was buffet style and had a variety of things, the most surprising thing was the waffles which was pretty good. The hotel itself is huge. They have a shuttle to & from the beach and it's own beach chairs as long as you show your key. The front doesn't speak English or very well English but they are willing to help as best as they can.

Worth a stay!
Pros:

Checking in took quite a while but other than that it was all good.

Hotel provides currency exchange, but I think they only accept certain currencies.

The hotel is approx 10 mins walk to the beach.

Situated in the centre of many Chinese / seafood restaurants!

They also provide luggage storage for up to 7 days.

Definitely worth a stay if you're looking for a hotel in this area.

Stated 4 Star - Not
Pros:

Full disclosure: I am a non-Asian American traveling alone in China with limited Chinese skills. When faced with 'issues', I rate the hotel staff by how much they work with me to resolve the problem.
Travelers without Chinese skills, or traveling with someone who has them, are likely to find some difficulty. Usually there are at least 1 staff with adequate English skills.
First, you do NOT stay in the building where you check in. The 'annex' is up the stairs and across the street (no problem).
Second, when I asked, the reception staff told me the main building is a 5 star while the annex is a four star. For certain, the annex is not 4 star.
This trip I stayed at 10 different hotels, on the mainland, Hong Kong and in Taiwan. Most concierges have relationships with local travel guides - this one did not. Most business centers do NOT have a computer with an English keyboard - this one did not. Also, while half of the hotels were happy to mail a postcard (5-15 RMB) this one could not and, unless you are acquainted with China Post, good luck.
At the annex front desk the staff spoke almost less English than I speak Chinese! Ordering, and confirming, laundry service, upon which I relied on my extended trip, was an ordeal.
Russians! Sanya is geared towards Russian tourist with even some of the storefronts having signs in Russian. Fortunately, the Russian speaking store clerks spoke more English than the Chinese. Refreshing talking with someone from the Caspian Sea in great English.

Prisvärt hotell
Pros:

Bra service, bra frukost, bra pool, fräscha rum med städning varje dag. Dock, precis som i övriga Kina, väldigt hårda sängar. 90% av alla gäster på hotellet var ryssar. Totalt sett ett väldigt prisvärt alternativ!

Don't hesitate to book nights there!
Pros:

I spent 3 nights in this hotel and it was a great experience. The hotel has everything : a swimming pool, a restaurant, a schuttle to go to the beach even if the beach is only around 10 minutes walking. The breakfast is really good.

Good location, helpful staff
Pros:

Spent 5 nights at Baohong, location is good, has its own private beach, staff were helpful. The seafood buffet at the cafe was yummy.
Would like to thank Chen Qiang of the Concierge Service who took the trouble to walk me to the security house to pick up my online shopping items (courier service did not follow my request to send to the hotel concierge).
Overall facilities were good except the WIFI was quite weak.

simple-for the paid price ok
Pros:

for the spent money ok. However don't expect anything close to an European 4 or 5 star hotel.
If you expect nothing more than the standard of a 3 star hotel for 50€ a night you probably won't be disappointed.

Cons
- worn room: drains on carpet, shower curtain, chairs, missing hooks in bathroom, damaged mirror, bathroom water tap is leaking...
- smoke smell in room despite reservation request non smoking
- weak AC - just 3 degrees lower, after all night running despite "repair"! Maybe due to "winter" season December same at other hotel.
- hotel pool at other side of road
- window and window isolation not good, despite 18th floor some street noise
- no cosmetic tissue
- windows very dirty
- disordered reception - check in problems due to lost reservation documents of hotel
- insufficient number of cups due to amount of guests

Pro
- small bottle of water complimentary
- minibar
- kettle
- slippers
- breakfast for western people just ok - toast bread, butter, jam and pieces of waffles, small carrot cake and banana cake pieces, weak coffee
- stuff is polite
- enough elevators - no long waiting time
- close to beach
- big room
- polite stuff, English skills sufficient.
- curtain light tight
- hardest mattress I ever had in a hotel
- wireless speed sufficient
- mostly refilled breakfast dishes

Good room, location. Not 4/5 star
Pros:

It's really close to the beach, has a nice pool (no restaurant/drinks there) and the room and bathroom are spacious. Bathroom it kinda unfinished, sink needs some TLC and the shower just looks old. However it's working fine and for the price I wasn't expecting much. It's more European 3/4 star hotel. Bed is Chinese hard, but really big. View is uninspiring but I don't really care about that. Don't know about breakfast, was too late for that every morning. You can easily walk to the beach, but they indeed do offer shuttle service. English level varies but they try to help you. Busstops nearby.

Acceptable, but doesn't excel
Pros:

Our four nights at the Baohong were pleasant without being amazing. After being tricked by C-Net into taking a room in the side tower and being deprived of the promised bath, we settled in nicely. The beds were comfortable, the rainwater shower amazing, and the overall feel of the room wasn't bad.

Our view of a wall or, looking up, a street wasn't much to write home about.

The breakfast (in the nearby Baohong proper) offers a pleasant enough mix of western and Chinese food. I'd say it's about 20/80 in the split though. 24 hour room service was warmly appreciated, although the staff have a habit of bursting into your room without being invited when delivering it.

The shuttle to the beach is unnecessary. It's a five minute walk. Ten if you're obese or old.

Overall, a nice enough place to stay. Close to the city's only foreign bar, Dadonghai Beach, and a number of shops and restaurants and pleasant enough staff.

Location, not view
Pros:

Big, Clean and Comfy hotel. located around dadonghai beach.
food served ranged from Chinese food to Western food. only some staffs could converse in English, mostly they only can speak Russian.
only need a short walk to reach Dadonghai beach, shops and restaurant around the area are expensive and meant to rich westerner price. to reach the downtown just take a cab and it will cost you around 12 RMB to 13 RMB (15 at most).
