Beware if you are booking this hotel as you may be put in another hotel further along the promenade. The Royal Carlton which is very run down. We booked a double room with seaview for myself and my husband for a 3 day event at The Tower Ballroom because of its proximity to the venue and because it had a coffee bar and restaurant. We were called a few days before and told it was overbooked and we would need to move hotels. We got a twin room at the back of the hotel with no sea virw or tea or coffee making facilities as advertised. Windows were broken and blinds and curtains wouldnt close. It was also further away so cost us more money travelling back and forth to The Tower. Also during our 3 day stay no towel change and when someone did come in to empty the bin they left the door open. Avoid at all costs!!
We had a lovely stay the room was warm and cosy. The breakfast was really good great choice. We arrived early hoping to leave our cases in the hotel but they didn’t have a separate room to put them in we could have left them in the reception area but we didn’t feel that was very secure. So we went to park the car which was quite a walk from the hotel and covered them up in the boot. We didn’t go to the entertainment so can’t comment on that but the rest of the guests seemed to enjoy it. The hotel only opened on the day we arrived as we were moved from the royal Boston to the Carlton. There was some Christmas decorations but it definitely wasn’t very festive like some of the other hotels didn’t feel as though they had put much effort into making it festive for the time of year.
Fabulous stay Brendon and Sam were the best staff I have ever had could not do enough for us all and there was a lot of us 48 in total and I go to Blackpool 3 time a year. The chef was the best too the best food I have had in any hotel great choice too if it was not on display he would get it for you nothing too much trouble. It’s sad it was closing yesterday 25th September hope it reopens one day 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻hopefully see all the staff again A1 hotel
Sadly, we heard from Blackpool Promotions today that this hotel is closing indefinitely. We have been moved to the Royal Boston for our stay in October. Really liked the Royal Carlton, hope the staff are taken on in other BP hotels as they are all fabulous. Apparently closing as they can't get enough staff, despite active advertising, to cover the number of guests booked.
Came home home today stayed for the weekend. really enjoyed it lovely balcony room very clean and modern . had singer on both night nice outdoor area for drinks with music on during day .breakfast was great even had blackpudding .unfortunately our door lock broke we were offered money back to home . but we didn't want to we felt safe enough would definitely stay again
We did not stay for more than one hour. Just enough time to find another hotel. Not sure where to start. The reception is pokey. The dining room reminded me of school. The room was so small. The window was broken and wouldn't shut. We had particularly booked a room with a balcony which we got and it was a good size but so dirty. The table was covered in bird droppings that clearly had been there for some time. I do not understand how this is a 3 star hotel. Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else.
The rooms were comfortable, the bar area was clean and tidy. The barman was brilliant and a truly well priced bar
Breakfast was very, very good
It is what it is
However, we would stay there again
Without a doubt
It was a totally enjoyable stay car parking was a 5 minute walk no problems there
Hotel in good location. On the seafront between central and south pier. Small but adequate and clean bedrooms. Stairs leading to bedrooms smelt of cannibas. Self service breakfast was good. Shame hadn't got a games room. Staff were friendly and helpful
The location was very good right on the prom with a nice terrace for sitting out having a drink. When I arrived I had to wait a few minutes has nobody was on reception or in the bar area and it was mid afternoon. Once booked in the room was clean but very small with a view of a wall. The bed seemed to slope. The entertainment in the evening was ok but not many watching. The price of the room was good, location good but hotel needs a overall.
Love this hotel but it does need a major overhaul. There were a lot of complaints regarding double bookings and some rooms were not prepared for guests. Declan did his best to sort it all out. The staff are an asset to the hotel and at points were run off their feet. The entertainment was very good with a great crowd adding to the atmosphere. As for the food, Francis you are a star, food as usual was top notch. Great guy who makes sure everyone is well catered for. From breakfast to dinner he goes out of his way to make everyone happy in fact he is one of the main reasons we love going to this hotel. The Glasgow girls.
just back from another great time in the royal carlton hotel, staff are lovely, the bar staff can't do enough for you especially carina, what a lovely bubbly person she is, u can't fault the food in any way, buffet breakfast with plenty to choose from plus buffet dinner, omg the food is to die for, so much to choose from and Francis the chef is amazing, such a great guy, comes out, goes round every table to see if you have enough food, if nothing suits he will go make you something, chats to everyone, this man is an asset to this hotel, rooms are nice, not a big hotel which I like, bingo and guest artist on every night, Declan does a wee quiz and plays higher or lower with electronic cards which passes the time before bingo, all in all a great wee hotel, no complaints whatso ever.margaret and company.
Last time I will be visiting!! I can’t believe how bad it’s sinking since our first visit 6 year ago only held together by 2 brilliant lads and couple other staff, poorly run by an inadequate manager.
Corridors smelt of sewage our room was filthy on arrival not just mine but other guests too the lady next to us was nearly in tears with her room. My advice pick another royal hotel but NOT the Carlton
Hotel has gone really down hill no weekend entertainment, arrived to find no evening meals dirty rooms hotel smells of sewage. Only good thing I can say excellent bar and waiting staff , unprofessional management
Could not be faulted. Staff very attentive. Food excellent. Second time I've been there and will be back if possible. Tram and bus stop at the door. Rooms are small but clean. Evening entertainment was a good standard
Thank you to all the staff from Royal Carlon Hotel for their friendly and professional services during our stay. Especially the manager who was always accommodating our needs in a positive and friendly way. Excellent service .Thank you so much ❤️
Rooms are too small tvs don’t have any pic only sounds walls are falling apart bathroom to small floor is not make right dip in it big step coming out your room not good for older people floor also makes sound bed is stained room was not even ready when we arrived had to wait over 1 hr
Much to my surprise I truly loved my stay here! Relax and enjoy! The Royal Carlton is a bit tatty, a bit run down, its a great Hotel where it counts its experienced staff. I have stayed at many Blackpool Hotels over the years, The Boulevard the Hilton and many more in Blackpool paying 10 times the price of the Royal Carlton. If you read my reviews you will see I stayed many times at the Boulevard and hated it every time, rooms were fantastic staff were pathetic. The Royal Carlton is a sea front hotel with no fuss, just an honest budget hotel with a great chef and staff. I spent the later part of my career in catering and owned a Michelin Star restaurant for 6 years as well as my own Hotels. The Chef at the royal Carlton is a friendly, enthusiastic man who produces excellent, wholesome, honest food prepared with skill and served in a buffet style. This budget Hotel taught me a big lesson in life that, on a budget you can have clean well serviced accommodation and be looked after by skilled friendly no nonsense staff. Why cant other hotels in Blackpool be like this. I have re-booked two rooms for three nights. Thank you all at the Royal Carlton, had a great wee stay see you at the Air Show weekend.
Fab time once again, Ashley amazing young man, works so hard, Francis an asset to hotel, food amazing, bar staff 🍻 great, Moana thanks so much for making Jadens 3rd birthday memorable for the family, look forward to seeing you all again, no be long back 31st🥰
Tired hotel in need of refurbishment and attention to detail. Cannot however fault overworked staff who went out of their way to make our holiday enjoyable. Meals were good and outside space great for sitting as weather was very hot.
Just got back from the Carlton blackpool.spent 2 nights really enjoyed it room was nice with lovely soft bedding and towels.ashe and all staff were lovely and friendly and helpful.food was lovely I'm now converted to a cooked breakfast.went to Boston which was a lovely place with nice staff etc but just a little bit too busy for us .the free tram tickets and bingo tickets were a nice bonus we will definitely go back to the Carlton.
