I've been coming to Hotel Dene for the past 5+ years as I do a lot of work in CLFN and FLFN. It has great location and amenities and comfortable beds!
I've noticed the attention to detail has dropped since the change in the manager (Colin). The staff seem to be okay but mostly its the following examples that are small but make a difference:
- no lotion in rooms (its a dry fall and winter coming up and this should be an absolute minimum)
- adding a bottle of water available for guests should also be a standard
- my shower head was nearly falling off - I am 6'1 and the shower head was lower than that - I can't propoerly stand underneath the shower!
- There used to be mixed fruit with the breakfasts! now its just oranges and apples. Myself and my employees always enjoyed this and sad now that the hotel is trying to save costs that are small but actually people notice. please bring this back...
- also there are no coffee sleaves for people taking coffee to go! very uncomfortable and inconvenient! please bring this very cheap addition back
- MY employee also said he found a used soap in his washroom...
Its the small things that don't cost a lot but go a long way or people notice! this is a crossroad to pick up the slack and remain a great option for travellers in the north or cheap out and cut corners and become a sad story.
The hotel is beautiful and the staff is perfect and welcoming, I think it's the best hotel in the area.

It was a very short notice trip but the staff were very accommodating. Beautiful room!

The receptionist the morning i left made my day with her big beautiful smile, and friendliness.
No restaurant menu's that deliver that far out of town.
Pool was closed
The staff was amazing, the value for the cost was excellent, the room I had I absolutely loved, from the finishing, cabinet/desk style and the accent wall behind the bed all looked phenomenal. The bathroom was excellent, and while I’m not generally impressed by rainfall shower heads because the pressure is lacking, this was probably the best shower I’ve ever had. Super impressed.
Nothing. It was unfortunate that the pool and hot tub were down for renovations at the time but that happens.
