Location stunning.
Appreciate the history of the building but desperately needs work. Mould on bedroom walls and bathroom. Only 5 channels worked on tv and all of them were channel 5. Breakfast very poor quality. Lukewarm also. Tinned fruit - no fresh. Disappointing stay.

The location is a short pleasant walk to the centre of Grasmere. It is a hidden gem, lovely grounds provided a peaceful stay in beautiful surroundings. Good for walking or just relaxing. I would definitely use this property again. Staff all very friendly
Perfect location. Lovely and peaceful. Beautiful scenery. Rooms were spotlessly clean and beautiful building
It is maybe a personal thing but, whilst we know people like to take dogs on holiday, we didn't like the fact that dogs were allowed in the breakfast room.
The location and the weather

Beautiful location - so lovely to be in such a quiet and historic location - fabulous view from our window.
The breakfast was cold and there were no berries and only a bowl of natural yogurt. We’re used to sour dough and Greek yogurt so that was disappointing.
Just beautiful.
Location was stunning. Bed was comfortable, powerful shower, just creaky floorboards. Breakfast was self service; however it would have been more efficient if individual breakfast orders were taken to save on time waiting for replenishments and any wastage.

Nightingale Room:
Room was very dark. Bedside lights not ambient.
Small window and very little view.
Small double bed (though comfy).
Bathroom in need of tlc/upgrade
Tea and coffee area difficult to use as tucked next to huge wardrobe with very little space to manoeuvre kettle etc.
Amazing views. Deer spotting. Exploring the grounds. Evenings round the log fire. Being looked after by the excellent Sue for whom nothing seemed too much trouble. Beautiful room, excellent breakfast. Proximity to Village amenities and tourist attractions.
The approach lane is slightly daunting H
Staff very pleasant and worked very hard. Went out of the way to make us feel very welcome. Our room was cold so the staff member put additional heating in the room for us.
Limited staff resources. TV was not working in the room. Bar closed at 4 pm. Rooms were not cleaned and freshened up after first night.
