This is our second time staying at this property, and it was as fantastic as we remembered from our first visit. The combination of clean, beautiful grounds with plentiful amenities makes for an all-around exceptional experience. The rooms are modern and clean and each staff member we interacted with was kind and helpful (shoutout to the woman at the cultural center who went above and beyond making our 10-year old feel welcomed). Also, as a family who loves to snorkel, the vibrant reef just off-shore is a huge plus. We loved the on-site restaurant and its breakfast buffet, as well as the shuttle service which takes you right to Whaler's village. Thank you Nanea! We will be back.
This was our third trip to Nanea and we always love it here! We had a ground floor 2 bedroom suite this time and actually enjoyed easy access to the pool, slides, grills, etc. We missed out on the ocean view we were used to but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We always recommend this property to younger families with kids because of the pool setup with a large kids area, great facilities, pool staff, concierge staff, etc. Snorkeling isnt as good as the Westin Ocean Resort Villas just south of Nanea but it's a great snorkel straight out and head south to see more vibrant coral and sea life.
Caution when booking. This is a time share, not what you would expect in a Marriott property. The Marriott rewards benefits do not apply at this property. They are very disorganized. They could not find my reservation and did not give me the room as promised when I initially checked in. I would not stay here again.
This place is excellent. The two bedroom suite is gorgeous and in fantastic condition for a 9 year old property. The service was SUPER snd they could not be more helpful. The pool areas were awesome right on the beach. Lots of great areas to walk to for dining and other activities. Sunsets were picture perfect!
One area they could improve on is the monitoring of the pool. Yellow tags on chair if you were not there in the mornings for a hour. We got warnings two mornings and we just had gone to the beach to snorkel. 🙄 A wee bit aggressive for a luxury type report in my opinion.
I would definitely stay there again. It is a fabulous place to spend your vacation dollars.
Fantastic location. Near shops and restaurant. (Dukes) Walkway alone ocean.
Our recent Westin Nanea Ocean Villa’s visit was truly remarkable. For my son’s birthday, we appreciate the complimentary cake and treats. Our comfortable two-bedroom villa equipped with a full kitchen and living room area was ideal. We feel compelled to specifically commend General Manager Mr. Glenn Casil. His personal attentiveness and commitment to ensuring every detail was perfect and transforming our visit from excellent to truly unforgettable. Mahalo!
Highly enjoyed our week stay at these villas for our honeymoon! Beautiful grounds & landscaping, friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere. The boardwalk to the other properties is amazing! We enjoyed coffee & breakfast buffet at the neighboring Westin as well as the fire pit with live music. Beach access was also great to have! It’s nice to have the shuttle service to whalers village and shopping. Highly recommend!! We did have to request more towels halfway through the week- keep in mind this isn’t a “hotel” so not daily service, but more of a private villa.
We are staying at the resort currently for 8 nights. Looked forward to their exclusive Mother’s Day brunch. We have never in our whole lives received worse service than at this brunch. Our reservation was at noon. The hostess was nice and seated us. After that we received no service for the entire brunch. Lots of waitstaff running around, but never asked to order drinks or any type of service. There was no silverware, no glasses of water, no questions to what we would like to drink. We just sat there. Walked to Buffett station and back. Found our own silverware. Filled out own waters.Found our own ice tea. Found our own sweeteners. Nobody ever serviced our table and there were 4 servers working, talking to each other, talking to local
employees and friends that were visiting the restaurant with their families and newborn babies, but we were completely ignored. We would have loved to order a mimosa. Not a chance. And we were not the only guests that received no service. I understand that it is hard to work on MOTHERSDAY, but please don’t ruin your guests day by your lack of service. Our brunch was 170$ and even though the food was good, it was the most disappointing brunch experience we have ever had.
We’ve stayed at The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas multiple times, and it truly is a beautiful property with great pools, grounds, and location. Unfortunately, the housekeeping this stay has been extremely inconsistent.
During the scheduled 5-day full cleaning, we repeatedly found basic items missed: sheets not changed, shampoos/body wash not replaced properly, and toilets and sinks not cleaned. Over the course of our stay, I had to request housekeeping redos five separate times, and on one occasion it took four separate requests to get an issue resolved.
What’s frustrating is that our previous stay here was excellent, so the inconsistency is very noticeable. Tipping doesn’t seem to make any difference. The quality appears to depend entirely on which staff member services your room that day, with very little accountability or quality control from housekeeping management.
It’s disappointing because this is otherwise a wonderful resort, but at this price point, guests shouldn’t have to repeatedly follow up over basic housekeeping standards.
Pleasant environment, great staff. Always peaceful
We are just back from our 4th stay at Nanea. Of all the Westin properties in Hawaii we find this one to be the best. Why? Well the grounds and amenities are first class. The employees are also very friendly and helpful. The two bedroom villa has so much room and furnishings are great. Large lanai is nice too. Only change I would recommend would be to remove the large table on the lanai and put smaller furniture out there. Easy parking here is a plus as well and free. Now one thing we found to be positive was the pool chair game. There was an hour time limit for unused chairs. They posted a warning on the chairs that the towels would be removed at a certain time if not heeded. A lot of resorts we’ve been to do not enforce this. This is not fare to folks who want to go down and find a chair. If you want a chair by the pool, USE it or lose it.
We only had one meal at the resort on the night we arrived, choosing to go out or cook in our villa.
This resort will give you all of the Aloha you crave and more. Mahalo Nanea, Mahalo
This was my first stay at a Westin Property (I'm pretty loyal to the Hyatt brand, especially when it comes to vacation properties.) That said, we had such an incredible experience at this hotel and will definitely be staying at more Westin Properties going forward.
To my understanding, this hotel was built sometime in the late 2010s (maybe 2017?) and is the newest of the three Westin Vacation Club properties in Maui. From the moment you pull up, the lobby is absolutely stunning and in pristine condition. We were promptly welcomed by valet, who encouraged us to valet for the first night as it is complimentary and would make getting settled in much easier. This was such a nice touch after a long day of travel. Check in was a breeze, and we even stopped by the concierge to learn more about the hotel.
Upon getting to our room, we were blown away by the sheer size of our 2 bedroom suite. For context, we were guests of a Westin Vacation Club owner, who kindly upgraded us from the 1 bedroom we requested of him! Because we were guests of an owner, we got a special card that gave us perks and discounts, and our self parking was complimentary. Listen, I'm not a timeshare person, but I can completely understand why someone would buy into the Westin Vacation Club after staying at this property. The accommodations are very grand compared to traditional timeshare properties. It feels like a luxury resort!
One complaint I have about this hotel is that they could do a much better job of making sure that people aren't reserving pool chairs for their entire families before anyone else gets a chance to come out to the pool. Allegedly, there is a 60-minute limit on reserving chairs. That said, I didn't see it enforced. It wasn't uncommon to walk down to the pool at 8 am and see random objects all over the chairs and no one in sight. I think a lot of this has to do with the age demographics at this property. Because of the size of the rooms and the types of pools, it seems to attract huge families with lots of small children. Grandparents and parents come down early in the morning and reserve chairs for everyone in their party to ensure they can all sit together.
I also don't care for the lack of proper adults only amenities. The pool complex at this resort is sizable and you have access to the other Westin Vacation Club properties, but the adults pool at the Nanea is such an afterthought. It's a tiny pool situated back from the larger pool complex. It is also isolated from the adults only hot tub-- which was practically unusable due to the sheer amount of kids that swarm the pool that surrounds it. While hanging out in the adults only pool, I talked to a few other people who bought up the same issue-- the pool is too small. Someone called out that the pool could have been significantly larger had they not put a gigantic pond behind it. I agree, it's a huge design failure... But, who comes to Hawaii for the pool? Let's talk about the beach!
The beach at this resort is incredible! It's such a short walk from the lobby and guest rooms, as well. Personally, we rented two beach chairs, an umbrella, and a cooler from Auntie Snorkel for under $60 for the entire week. I noticed that some people had gotten beach equipment from the towel stand, so I decided to take a look at prices... Definitely pricey! Think $60 a day for the same equipment (I will say, their beach umbrellas were much better. Mine got folded up in the wind, and the hotel rental ones were still going strong!)
Now, let's talk food! There's a few dining options spread out across the Westin Vacation Club properties. Given the sprawling kitchen in our unit, we only partook in the shave ice counter next to the lobby. It was such a delicious treat and a great value! There's a matcha counter next to it and a full restaurant a few halls down. I heard great things about both.
My final consensus? This is an awesome property for those who want to try out a timeshare rental that has great amenities. A must visit resort!
Awesome hotel, with good (if pricey) food, spacious suites, warm pools and a lovely beach and boardwalk. We didn't take advantage of the activities, but there are many.
It’s our home away from home. We absolutely love Nanea, Lahaina, Maui and th Ohana.
Love this place! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. We have an ocean front two bedrooms two baths unit. Best of the house. Watched whales frolicking and whipping their tails all in front of the patio all day long. The pool is too cold though. Did not get in at all. This is the only blemish I can think of.
Comfortable, space with 2 bed and 2 bath, very nice beach. Many amenities located nearby
roach on the wall, strong garbage smell in the hallway near us
Location and 2BR availability
Great stay at an excellent property. The staff are fantastic. Helpful, responsive and friendly. Look forward to returning.
Resort was very clean, well maintained. Beach is beautiful and grilled most of the nights on very clean and excellent grills. Staff were very friendly and helpful and special thanks for Johnny in Security who helped return our missing favorite sunglasses.. Would definitely return!
