OMGosh where should I start? booked last minute as a get together with family, we were told on the phone by a young girl that we didn't need to book a table for dinner, we could just turn up. We arrived at 7.15 to check in only to be told that the restaurant was closed because the hotel was in the middle of being sold on and the chef hadn't been replaced... WHAT? in a matter of 2 hours? Very disappointing, we were told to go to Toby Carvery down the road but being NY eve they were closing early so everything felt a bit rushed. We were given room 209 which smelled damp and musty, there was a huge brown stain on the ceiling that looked as if could fall in at any minute, obviously a leak somewhere, the towel rail was rusty and hanging off the wall it was a terrible room so I asked to be moved. we were then given room 205 which was marginally better but we couldn't close the bathroom door, the mattress must have been really old, it was really uncomfortable and we could here the springs creak every time we moved. We just could not wait to get up and go home. The staff however, were very pleasant.
this hotel should not be allowed to charge the high rates it does. my friend and I booked a room each at £70 each for 1 night, the beds were rock hard the room smelt damp and musty and the traffic noise was loud. breakfast was a let down, bought at at extra charge of £10 plus, dripping in grease and served by a very sullen waitress , also to be bumped into by an elderly male employee at 10.30am carrying half a pint of lager was not nice
there were positives, the receptionist on arrival was very friendly and helpful and the evening meal, although expensive, was very nice
Brilliant location and the lady on the reception desk when we arrived was lovely, unfortunately that's all the good things to say about this place.
We had a holiday package booked and this was what we had offered to stay in the night before. Having read the reviews I was very wary about our stay but thought we're only there for a few hours how bad can it be....pretty bad...We had a 6am flight so needed to be up early anyway but myself and my husband had about 2/3hrs of broken sleep all night. The bed was absolutely DREADFUL, the road noise was terrible and our room was musty and too warm.
The room itself was clean enough but smelt damp/ stale and the windows had blown so there was condensation running all down it. Bathroom was clean enough but the whole room just smelt damp.
Due to the bed/road noise we definitely wouldn't stay here again, albeit such a good location, will be booking the Travelodge a few minutes down the road next time.
Location excellent. Welcoming atmosphere. Rooms adequate a little tired but spotless comfy mattress and pillows. Value very good. Public rooms clean and tidy again a little tired but nothing that would put us off staying again which we will be doing again in January. No noise to complain about it we were at back of hotel ot sure what front rooms would be like as a busy road in front of hotel. Service excellent helpful and friendly receptionist. Had the mixed grill in the restaurant I wouldn’t have expected this level of catering in this type of hotel (without being negative a hotel that probably deals mostly with passengers for flights) could not fault mixed grill nice steak and locally sourced sausages and gammon (having spoken to the chef) again will have that on my next stay. Overall would recommend to friends and family.
The hotel was lovely. Clean. Generous with tea/coffee and biscuits 😋 the towels were nice and big. Very quiet. Great nights sleep and great base place for Cardiff city centre without paying extra! Would definitely stay again!
First impressions last.... Chap who welcomed us had no idea of any Customer Service skills, having worked in a service provider for 38 years, this service would not be accepted. Rooms outdated, damp, ceilings cracked.
Location of the hotel is perfect, however, the above would stop me from going again.
Terrible experience. We requested a cot 4 months in advance and had it confirmed it was added to the booking and would be in the room on arrival, but when we arrived they didn’t have one and had no spares. Their“solution” offered was a few bottles of wine — completely useless when traveling with a baby. One staff member even suggested we let the baby sleep in her pram or just stay up all night with them (as we had an early flight the next day!). We ended up having to book another hotel down the road last minute ( Premier Inn Barry which I can’t recommend enough excellent customer service)
The room itself smelled badly of damp, was old, dated, and in desperate need of a revamp. Honestly glad we didn’t stay — avoid this place at all costs.
Great place to stay before an early morning flight!
What a lovely start to a holiday, really nice and comfortable room, 2 mins away from the airport the absolute highlight was the food in the restaurant. The staff were so helpful and lovely. Definitely recommend.
Bit care worn, needs some TLC.
It met our needs for a hotel near the airport
Staff were very helpful and friendly
Booked as close to airport, advice.. don't!
Dated rooms, threadbare carpets not even fitted properly. Can't see out of windows due to condensation between glazing, smells stale, walls covered on dirty marks has definitely put a damper on the start of holiday. Photos do not give accurate reflection. Basic
Inside needs a good lick of paint, doors look shabby, cracks in the wall. WiFi is awful, when I asked the receptionist she was not really interested. Apparently many guests have complained about it, but nothing gets done. It’s 2025 WiFi is a very basic requirement.
The hotel was lovely, friendly welcome and the food cooked by chef John was outstanding piping hot and delicious. We had a lovely stay thank you 😀
Cheap and cheerful come to mind. Closest to Cardiff Airport is big plus. They have a wonderful restaurant with very reasonable food and service (good thing as there is nothing else around.) Very modest rooms biggest draw back are the beds, they are a bit bouncy and the springs are noisy (need a trip to IKEA for an update). But for £62 you get what you pay for. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed the fact that it was so close to the airport. The shower head came off once water pressure was applied. And the beds were very uncomfortable. I think it’s time for a new mattress. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good and you had lots of options.
was wonderful
Very convenient. Good food and very pleasant staff.
Close to the airport
I found the staff to be friendly and welcoming.
However the accommodation is looking tired and needs updating.
The bed was comfortable, and I had a good night's sleep.
Hotel was clean. Comfy beds. Staffwere very friendly and helpful. X
