Whakatane Hotel

Its an old establishment so it was musty and cold. No headboard, TV up closer to the ceiling couldn't watch it (even with my glasses on) no Netflix available. Had to climb over the bath to have a shower and there was barely any room to sit when going to the toilet. Plus no tea, coffee available. I know I pay for what I get but this was very disappointing. Bloody staff member needs work on her customer service 🙄

No elevator, no private parking, door was hard to lock

Kitchen - messy dishes left on bench. Floor in kitchen swimmg wth water after heavy rain. Smell of old oil in corridor. No stagf around to give key bk but place all open so left key in door. Walls very thin in bedrm- noise transfers easily

No hot water at all for a shower...leaving it there!

The conditions of rooms were very sad..., fan was filthy, needed painting and updating. Carpet was old windows were jammed,
Needs to have a total restore

It was very noisy. People coming in all hours during the night and congregating together.

I have been waiting since the 21st of February and still haven't received my refund. I asked for the hotel to send confirmation to booking.com so that I may receive my refund, however I am still waiting!

Bit noisy but its next to a bar

The bedroom wasn't clean, lots of cobwebs and spiders. The bathrooms were awful. No toilet seat on the only toilet in the women's. The shower head only came up to my shoulders and it's not adjustable. I understand it's a pub and it's noisy but the problem was the paper thin walls and the extremely loud snorer in the next room. Everything is old and run down. Should be renovated before any more rooms are let out.

I didn't expect the communal shower/toileting arrangement but now accept it was in their advertising. I found my stay was reminiscent of an accommodation style from decades long ago - possibly post World War II. I wasn't too happy about the car parking arrangements where the "onsite" parking is not fenced off making security a concern. I had no problems though and acknowledge the CCTV coverage.
Probably won't stay here again. I'm too used more privacy and in room shower/toileting facilities. I'm glad I did stay though because it made think of my parents and grandparents who would have revelled in this type of accommodation back in the day.

The hotel is filthy we had to change rooms because of the putrid snell. We found rotting meat of some kind in the wardrobe.

Ladies bathroom didnt have a seat. Looks like seat was ripped off or something. The lid was sitting on the floor. The bathtub had a giant hole in the brick surrounding it. Surprised they can call themselves a hotel. Had to grab someone from the bar to check me in and wasnt the friendliest.
