STUNNING location facing Sotovento beach.
Convenient to the kite / wind sports center, Rene Egli and long beach walks.
Comfortable room, relatively newly decorated in a simple beachy style - interior and exterior furniture was well appointed and neat.
Room facing the ocean (second floor in B 4) was nicely sheltered from the sun and the wind. Glass wall on the terrace allowed for unobstructed expansive views and protection from the constant wind.
Lounge bed on the terrace was an excellent spot to read!
Good water pressure and quick temperature adjustment.
Nice decor throughout the hotel, lobby, bar, restaurant (even if it is a bit cafeteria-like)
Staff were all friendly as were guests
All around a relaxed and chilled atmosphere, good energy

I felt it would be a good idea to review this hotel as I've seen some mixed review comments of the Zel franchise at other locations. I arrived at Zel Fuerteventura two days ago and can say it is excellent. Contrary to some other reviews breakfast buffet is excellent les to choose from and lots of everything. Nice long time allowed from 0730 to 1000. Buffet dinner also is great. Plenty choices and lots of everything again. Good quality meats of various types fresh roast turkey carvery, grilled steaks, seafood. And nice pasta and paella among other things. Again plenty time for dinner from 1900 to 2200.
Staff are great welcoming and friendly and we can muddle along well enough in spite of my sadly lacking Spanish 🙄 many of the team speak perfect English and I'm sure some German.
Value wise the stay for me solo cost 2200 uk inc flights and transfers and was half board for 2 weeks which I think seems like very decent value given what you get for the money. Would definitely recommend it especially if you like windsurfing or kitesurfing. But even if I didn't do that i would still come back here. Really nice chilled place. Great for solo travellers and there are several others here this week besides me, into double figures both men and women. Place is also no kids, which many adults may also find appealing. Seems to be a complete mix of ages from young 20s to retirees. Seems popular with female groups of friends in the 20 to 40 age range, possibly because of the courses and spa and yoga etc they run and obviously the marvelous location and high quality facilities.
The rooms are really nice, clean and well maintained with nice walk in shower with rain head and normal type option. You also have a 43 inch tv wall mounted which you can cast from phones to. You cannot attach anything like USB or laptops though as the rear where you may find hdmi or USB connections is not accessible. Sound quality is not ideal from them with almost no base, possibly deliberate to avoid people annoying their next door neighbours. Access to hdmi and usb and options to attach laptops etc and headphones either by cable or Bluetooth in this day and age should be available really. It is however a small negative, the only one I could mention really. Your rooms are provided with coffee maker,and kettle for green teas (although if you like good English breakfast tea you may wish to bring some yourself or ask for it instead of green). You also have a stocked mini bar which you pay for if you use contents. And they give you a 750ml bottle of still mineral water free each day if you use it. Tap water is from desalination so has a taste to it but is drinkable.
The pool and associated bar are nice and have a surfy vibe about them, and plenty high quality sunbeds. The terrace and pool are somewhat sheltered from the winds that the island is famous for. But to be fair the constant breeze here is great in 30 degrees heat. Basically stops you from sweating at all in the heat. Ideal if you want to develop a good tan without having to constantly refresh sunscreen because of sweat.
Last but not least you are located right on Sotavento Beach. Which is a beautiful long gold to white sandy beach that stretches for over 7km and had a tidal lagoon which gets to about 3 foot deep in places for about 4km of the beach. Genuinely stunning location. I would say I've of the best beaches I've ever been to, certainly the best on offer in the Canary Islands.
The hotel is part of the Melia complex here and there is also a very high quality windsurfing rental place on site. Winds here are much stronger than the rest of the island if you are coming for wind sports you could reasonably expect at least 5 to 10 knots more than elsewhere, possibly twice the strength. The winds work on thermals and geography, so cloudy days can reduce the effect somewhat.

Another great holiday experience -- totally chilled with a great relaxing vibe.
All staff are to be commended and Lucia was as always on hand to assist - special thanks to the reception staff and also Julia in the restaurant and Guedo in the bar _ the whole team are a credit to the hotel .
The new "Zel" look is a positive change and adds to the overall laid back feel of the hotel . Nothing but positive comments and we look forward to returning in September .

I (52 years old, male, travelling alone) stayed here at INNSiDE Meliá, now Zel Fuerteventura, for the seventh time in three years from May 28 to June 11, 2026, and I’ve already booked again for September 2026. As I’ve said in my previous reviews: I think this hotel is fantastic!

The “adventure” already begins with the easy booking process via the app (highly recommended, as it also offers a discount). I always book a “studio with sea view and garden”. Once again, I was lucky enough to get room #4112. It’s my absolute favourite — very quiet and with almost no foot traffic, as it’s at the end of building #4. I hope I’ll get the same room again in September.

One aspect that is quite important to me: Zel Fuerteventura is adults-only (16+). I have nothing against children, but on my well‑deserved holiday I simply don’t need the noise ;-)

The chefs put a lot of effort into preparing the menus every day. There is always a rich buffet. Booking half board is definitely worth it.

The staff at Zel Fuerteventura are very friendly, personable and extremely helpful. Lucia welcomes the guests at dinner. I’m not entirely sure about her exact role, but I believe she is one of the people who keep the operation running smoothly with the many employees. Pedro and Antonio from the service team always have a smile on their faces and take everyone’s needs into account. Unfortunately, these are still the only names I remember. I’ll try to do better in September.

The rooms are always cleaned and tidied very nicely. I would also like to thank the staff who take care of the buildings and the outdoor areas. Everything always looks beautiful, well‑maintained and spotless. As a Swiss person with a tendency toward cleanliness, I naturally appreciate this very much :-).

Once again, I want to express my gratitude for an unforgettable and wonderful holiday. The island and Zel Fuerteventura have definitely become my second home.

Tolle Atmosphäre, ruhig und entspannt. Wunderschöner Ausblick, gutes Essen und tolle Cocktails. Perfekter Ort zum runterkommen und Akkus wieder aufladen.
Es leben auf dem Gelände auch viele Katzen, die von einer Charity versorgt werden. Das sollte man wissen. Wir haben uns über die Vierbeiner gefreut :)
