Martin was awesome!! Great customer service & made sure all is good for my stay! Definitely great hotel if you’re in the 803!
I would give this place a Zero rating if I could. Not sure how this hotel can advertise as a Hilton Brand. Check in was at 3pm. At 3:20pm were told room not ready. Had called that morning to ensure room would be ready as advertised at 3pm check in, and confirmed. After short wait then told room is ready. No direct to room digital key at this Hotel, wait in long line to check in and get a room key. On arrival to the room, it smelled horrible. Asked nearby maid what the smell was and she said it would get taken care of. We quickly dressed as we had an appt shortly after arrival. Arriving back to our room around 8pm in the evening it still smelled horrible. Tried several times to contact the front desk by phone, no one would answer. Walked down to the front desk, explained the situation and was told someone would be by to take care of it AGAIN!!! A lady showed up and sprayed our room with some type of spray. Briefly better but smell came back.
In the morning we noted several of our clothes that we had worn sitting on the couch was covered in what appeared to be dog fur. It finally dawned on us it was smelly dog fur and that someone prior to us had an unclean dog in the room and it had been all over everything and nothing was cleaned. I went back to the front desk and asked yet again what will be done to fix this once and for all. I was told while we were out for the day the room would be cleaned. We left, arrived back in the evening and yet AGAIN room had not been touched, cleaned or anything. We were furious!
Needless to say, we packed up first thing the next morning and left. I stopped by the front desk again for the third time and was given the ongoing apologies. All they would offer is a 30% refund. Ridiculous and all we wanted to do was LEAVE this horrible hotel. The room has walls patched and not finished, dog fur everywhere, smelled, dated, TV remote batteries dead, floors and hallways uncleaned, not vacuumed, spills on the floors in the hotel, disgusting. On a good note a few staff were very friendly and trying to help but blame this on poor management.
To cap this off I had requested twice the Hotel Manager contact me by phone to discuss these problems and to date I have not heard one word. This shows me how much they care or lack there of on Hilton Customers. I would do yourself a favor and look elsewhere to stay in Columbia or if staying near the USC campus. This place is horrible and we will not be back! Ever! Fair warning my Hilton friends, buyer beware.
Please do not waste your money staying in this hotel. I made the mistake to stay here for my sons basic training military graduation without reading the reviews first and regretted it. I’m a Hilton loyal member, but this hotel should not be Hilton, it’s ruining its reputation.
We checked in at 1am, had a reservation, the male receptionist barely said hi to us, and the entire interaction felt as if we were bothering him. He gave us our card, no instructions whatsoever and when I asked about where the room was he said only the floor number.
The next day we were woken up by 9am by housekeeping knocking our door, when I heard someone opening the door I got up opened the housekeeper saw me in my underwear half way asleep trying to figure out why they were waking us up so early on our first day. I let it go as I thought maybe it was a mistake.
The second night we were there we had gone out and came back around 10pm to find out the entrance was closed and there was a sign saying to use my hotel card to open it or go to through the Hilton garden entrance. Although I scan the card, it didn’t work, I tried calling y pushing the button as I had a lot of bags with me. The receptionist from Hilton Garden (these two hotels are connected) came and open the door for us and was angry with me because I didn’t go through the Hilton garden entrance. When I told him the sign said I could scan my card an my card wasn’t working, he totally ignored me and kept saying to use the Hilton garden entrance. That to say that the majority of the time Home2suites find have a front staff there.
On top of that the two beds had lots of pubic hair in the sheets, the soap bottle didn’t work and when I asked for a new one, again i felt like i was bothering them as the front desk male barely wanted to talk to me. Because of this horrible experience I will never use Hilton again.
Location was good, but, that was all. Family wedding was at Presbyterian Church approx. 2 blocks away, easy walk. Then on to the Palmetto Club for reception, easy walk back to hotel. Room upon arrival was not the cleanest. Still trash in can from prior guests. Bed linens appeared clean. Hotel was full so I didn’t ask to change rooms. Breakfast first morning was great. Saw Martin and told him he was famous in the reviews! Second morning breakfast was awful! Spoons and knives, no forks. No napkins. Food was poor compared to prior day. When I checked out I asked front desk for a paper copy of my receipt, no one else in line at the time. Girl did not even speak to me at all!! She got my receipt but no “how was your stay” no “good morning” not even a hint of a smile. Not a good look for the face of the property! I had read some poor reviews but with all the family staying there we stayed there too. I think there were either 7 or 8 rooms just with immediate family there. All were disappointed with their stay. I did fill out my review from the email after my stay. Checked the box for “would you like us to follow up with you?” But it’s been 1 week and nothing yet!
Hey I want to shout out my man Martin!! He was working every time I walked in the door. Always friendly, always trying to make sure I had what I needed. He made my stay at this spot outstanding. Promote ahead of peers
Martin in the free breakfast Wednesday the 11th provided excellent service. Made me feel right at home with a big smile and 110% effort.
Martin and willimay were excellent at the breakfast bar they kept it open a bit late for me a few days in a row
You are very fortunate to have Martin on your team! He was in the process of closing the cafeteria and saw our pitiful little hungry faces and gave us the biggest smile and said , come on ladies , I'll feed you. 100% 5 star service. Rest assured, when we visit again we'll be looking for Martin❣️💯
Martin the gentleman who runs the breakfast bar is a 10/10 guy, always helpful and polite. I stay here frequently and have always had quality service.
Martin was an excellent host at the pantry. Made our stay enjoyable.
I have stayed here multiple times and tell myself each time not to stay here. First, it took almost an hour to check in. The staff member was on the phone because she was having trouble checking a guest in. Half way through I tried to digital check in and it went through. The problem was the room I was given was trashed. So I went back down and stood in line. My second room had issues too. It had food on the floor, we found hair on the bedspread. When I went to take a shower, there was one towel in the room. In the morning we went down to get coffee and it was out. The one good thing about the hotel is the staff. They are super friendly, but my stay left a lot to be desired.
The only reason I’m giving a 5 star is due to Mr. Martin Cherry! I came down at 0500 to try and find some coffee. He had just walked through the door to start his shift when I asked if he happened to have any coffee ready. He didn’t hesitate to fire up the machine and in 5 mins I had two cups ready. Thanks Martin.
The experience at this hotel has taken a work trip and turned it into a second home. I felt welcomed and energized as Martin prepared breakfast each day. His service with a smile warmed my soul during the unseasonably cold weather. Martin goes above and beyond to ensure my day starts off right. It is people like Martin whose extra efforts make this stay at this location worthwhile. I highly recommend this hotel, and when you stay, tell Martin I said "Hi!"
Stayed here for a couple of days and the staff was good but Martin and Travis was amazing will definitely book again next time.
I had breakfast it was really good Martin was the best he was courteous kind and made sure we had everything we need such a pleasant experience
I have to say the breakfast that Martin and Travis provide this particular morning was very tasteful and the service was outstanding
I threw away a post card on accident into the trash at the breakfast station and when I asked Martin, he said he would check the trash, and 10 minutes later he came back with the card in his hand, and he dug through the trash thoroughly, I cant thank him enough, he is a great guy, he deserves a raise.
My husband and 2 small children came to this hotel at my 6 year old son's request to stay at a hotel on his NYE birthday. We drove 2 hours to stay here and to also go to Segra Park for the NYE celebration. We were put in one room and I noticed immediately that the rooms were not as clean as the typical Home2Suites I have stayed in the past. I then noticed the shower had pubic hairs all over. I have included photos. My husband went downstairs and we were moved to a room next door. With my small children it was already such a hassle to move rooms, but I was thankful they were addressing the problem. We got all of our things moved and I went to get my son in the shower so we could get to the park, and I noticed another hair on the shower wall. At this point, I was annnoyed and just said I'm rinsing this off and will deal with it later. I opened the toilet, another hair. We then found an old fake fingernail sitting on the chair. We had to go purchase our own cleaning supplies to clean the room because we were going to miss our event if we didn't get going and did not have time to change rooms again.
We went downstairs for breakfast and the first table we went to had hair in each chair. The floor of the elevator was disgusting.
The guy walking the front desk (CJ I think?) was very nice but told me there was a housekeeping issue. He said he wrote a note to his manager to compensate us in someway but no one reached out to me or did anything.
I stay at Hilton hotels always, and specially Home2Suites but I can assure you I will not stay here again.
Also want to note how sweet the lady serving breakfast this morning was.
All photos attached!
We stayed here a few weeks ago for our son’s graduation. The location was perfect for that. The staff at the desk were friendly. That said, the room was absolutely horrendous. It definitely is not a hotel that keeps up with maintenance or cleaning. The couch was extremely dusty, the bathroom was moldy and had not been thoroughly cleaned. There were food crumbs in the drawers. The wallpaper was coming down. There was some sort of large white stain on the carpet. The desk chair faux leather was stripped off of one of the arms. There were dead bugs. Filters had not been cleaned. They did replace my broken iron. Downstairs in the lobby area where breakfast is served that too had some maintenance issues. One of the back doors that you’re supposed to use a card to enter was actually broken so that anybody could come in through that door.
I was quite surprised to see that Hilton allows to have their name on such a disgraceful place. Obviously inspections are not done as often as they should be. I would not recommend anyone stay here.
The overall hotel was very clean and had a very warming atmosphere. I was greeted by a pleasant employee with a smile and asked if I needed anything. Later to find out it was the manager Mr. Acie. His personality and work ethic was amazing. My stay and breakfast experience was pleasant this is the type of environment travelers such as myself enjoy.
