Batu Empug Ubud Cottages

This was an incredible hotel to stay at, very clean, safe and in a phenomenal location. Just off the really busy streets but less than a 10 minute easy walk to the center of Ubud.

The rooms, outdoor lobby, pools and restaurant were incredibly clean and the staff was kind, excellent and very helpful. Our room was large and looked out into beautifully kept gardens and a very clean and pretty pool.

The beds and pillows were very new and incredibly comfortable. And in room amenities were excellent.


The hotel restaurant was amazing with multiple choices for a full included breakfast and fantastic food for lunch and dinner at incredible prices, less than half the cost of places 5 min away and tasted way better! You need to try the banana pancakes and the carbonara!

I cannot say enough good things about this perfect hotel. And I highly recommend anybody to stay here and will be recommending it to everybody I know back in my country that comes to Bali.

Great value for the price! The only down point was the steep stairs!

Rooms are good w/ nice balcony, but bathrooms could definitely be improved. Definitely better than some of the 4-stars hotels I stayed in Indonesia.

Great location to all of Ubud’s main attractions

Betu Empug Cottages is a small hotel, located in a lovely quiet side street, with some small businesses and lots of family compounds nearby. We were able to walk easily into the heart of Ubud to shop or have dinner. Our room was comfortable and well set up and the bathroom was large. The air con and wifi worked well.
Staff welcomed us and check in was smooth. They even surprised my husband with a birthday song and cake on our balcony, which was lovely.
We enjoyed eating breakfast at the front cafe and the options were plentiful for us. We also dined in at the cafe on a couple of occasions and it was great.
We would definitely stay again when visiting Ubud.

A great little hotel in a lovely quiet side street. Breakfast options are perfect. Staff are friendly and helpful. Beautiful pool area and garden. Love the veranda seating area outside the rooms. Plenty of places to dine, grab a snack or have a massage within walking distance.

The property located near the temple where they conduct daily ceremonies late evening and there is a lot of loud noise/ loud music after 10 pm and continue to midnight . The food has is very limited choices. The room had only one towel ( bath), you have to ask for face towel, and the room had only 3 cloth hangers. The room did not have any mirrors, except in the dark bathroom , where the lights were dimmed.

This is a gem of a hotel. Perfect location- great restaurants nearby, coffee spots, yoga studio, shops. The staff are so lovely and really make the stay

Very nice hotel in the middle of Ubud but in a small street so it was very quiet location. Easy walking distance to everything-ridge,palace,monkey forest, massages.

I stayed 8 nights at The Batu Empug Cottages & thoroughly enjoyed my time. The staff are all so friendly, responsive & helpful. The hotel is thankfully off the very busy Main Street of Ubud but within a very short walk from so many things like the many restaurants of Ubud, The Monkey Forest, Palace & a beautiful walk through the rice fields. Lucky bonus - the owners son’s wedding occurred during my stay and all hotel patrons were invited to attend. Great time, great hotel… I’d definitely stay here again.

Overall hotel experience is good except that our wardrobe in the room has a urine smell.

Awesome central location. Easy to walk to stores and restaurants. The room was spacious and the staff was welcoming and friendly. It’s an older hotel but it’s been kept up nicely and the pool was very refreshing for a night dip. Would certainly stay here again.

We really enjoyed our time at Batu Empug Cottages, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We loved how close it was to lots of great restaurants and main streets. The pool was great as was the breakfast.

We had a very pleasant stay here! The room was clean and quiet. The pool and gardens area was beautiful. The staff were so kind and accomodating and let us have our room early. The bathroon exhaust wasn't the strongest however, and we did see one cockroach in the bathroom. So that area could have been a bit cleaner!
