Location, breakfast staff all excellent
Mattress leaned on one side so it was uncomfortable. Only desk chair in room so no place for 2nd occupant to sit and relax.
Proximity to t mobile center
Tight parking spots, but it was okay
Nice, clean hotel. Staff were very pleasant and easy to work with
I don’t have anything to say
Staff was great, we had to take a different room with 2 beds because they were over sold on Kings. As two were block off for Maintenace or something like that - night manager could not figure it out completely. They adjusted our bill for the inconvenience. But still, why are you able to book something and not be able to get what you booked.
The property is perfect for a stay at the Power and Light District just a 4-minute walk... But the hotel does not offer much else. Parking lot is super small - so get there early, if you want a spot. There is no indoor pool, or any other amenities really. The free breakfast is super disappointing, with a person that helps out with getting things prepared, or re stocked but offer no other help - like when the pancake area was not working correctly.
It smelled really good right when you walked in the door to check in. The facility was clean and tidy. Staff was super friendly. Our room was up on the 6th floor, it was a double queen bed room. Not a lot of space, but enough. We stayed because of the Lil Wayne concert at the T-Mobile center. It is a 2-3 minute walk across the street, which was really convenient. I would stay here again for convenience and the cleanliness, but paying $400 for 1 room, 1 night, and 2 parking passes is extreme in my opinion.
I wish breakfast went later, maybe until 10 or 1030? It was hard to get up before 9am to get to breakfast.
Nice room. Good breakfast.
$25 for parking was excessive
Check in time
Surprisingly good for a chain hotel, all the basics covered.
A little pricey, but you can't beat the location if you have a to-do at T-mobile.
My six-nights stay at the Holiday Inn Express Kansas City Downtown was a pleasant and comfortable experience. The hospitality of the staff stood out from the moment of check-in... friendly, professional, and always ready to assist with a smile. The continental breakfast offered each morning was fresh and varied, providing a great start to the day with both hot and cold options. One small perk that made the stay even more enjoyable was the availability of complimentary coffee throughout the day, perfect for guests working or relaxing in the lounge. The hotel’s central location was another major advantage, with the Kansas City Convention Centre just about six blocks away, making it an easy ten-minute walk. The rooms were clean, quiet, and well-maintained, contributing to a restful stay after long conference sessions. Overall, the combination of excellent service, convenient amenities, and easy access to key venues made the stay highly satisfying and worth recommending.
I did not like it that my Colleagues were nearly turned away simply because they had cash to pay and no money in their Bank Cards. They were finally made to pay a deposit of US$ 100 to be refunded on check-out. I also did not like it that the Hotel insisted on pre-authorising from my Bank Card, US$ 50 and promised to refund it to me, yet I have not even received it. This has been a tradition with all Bookings from this website, I never receive my pre-authorised monies back, meaning it is kept by the Hotel as an extra charge. I was also not impressed that my Colleagues paid the same amount as I paid for the 6 nights, yet I was being CHEATED by Booking Dot Com that as a Genius Level 3 Customer, I was receiving a 15% discount. Why then was I paying the same as those not getting the Discount? It means that the purported 15% Discount is never there and one can book DIRECTLY to the Hotel and pay the same amount rather than pay to Booking dot com.
Breakfast was great. Staff at desk was rude when I asked if we could get the room we booked. I’ve already left a review with no call or email. If the room wasn’t available when I booked - I should have received some type of compensation or discount for a room we didn’t reserve. I had a son that had to sleep on the floor due to the booking issue.
