A lovely stay - fabulous staff and dinner was delicious - thank you
Liked everything
Good location; easy and free parking; beautifully furnished; cozy and comfy room.
Nothing.
The bed was super comfy
Nothing to fault
Great location, parking, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, good restaurant and choice of menu.
Fire doors being left open to bypass the secure entry/exit system to customers rooms.
Top class. Bottled water provided, also Yorkshire Gold Tea bags! Brilliant.
Fixed shower head. poor lighting - make-up needs good light directed at the face
Very well placed for a quick Transfer to the ferry in Portsmouth. Very confortable bed.
Room was very hot. The only window opened onto the Garden of the bar/restaurant which was very busy and noisy. The air conditioning unit was a portable contraption with a corrugated tube that had to be passed out of the window - see previous comment about noise in the garden!
It had air conditioning in all the rooms. That was great as it was so hot.
Nothing.
Location.
Rooms were comfortable & on a very hot day it was great to have a mobile air con unit
N/A
The staff were extremely helpful and moved us to a larger room. However the bed layout was exactly the same.
The room was very small. The bed was against the wall and the person on the inside edge had to climb over the other person to get out of bed.
The shower pressure was just a dribble.
From arriving we were impressed by the look and feel of the place. Nice welcome, excellent room and generally great service throughout.
No complaints at all
The staff the hotel everything was just perfect. I loved the welcome note left in the room and everything for the dog too
Reception staff great
Noisy kitchen staff all though the night!
Dinner was really nice - Great restaurant! And rooms are really beautifully decorated and furnished. I loved the little petit fours that they leave in your room on arrival. Such a sweet little touch!
I had a VERY noisy neighbour who decided that he would shout down the phone for an hour or so at 1am... not in any way the fault of the hotel, but perhaps the walls are a bit thin.
Room was gorgeous and huge, it was very clean and tidy. Staff were lovely and food was fantastic, we went to a wedding reception there and it was incredible
The staff were lovely but there was a few mistakes on the food for the reception that was pre ordered, breakfast orders that were forgotten and they hadn't communicated the wedding reception plan amongst the staff so a bit more stressful than needed but all worked out okay
Always a pleasure to stay here. The rooms are lovely, the food is great and the staff are wonderful.
I stayed for one night hoping for a quiet break and, unfortunately, this wasn’t the experience I had.
Starting with the positives: the hotel itself is beautifully designed. A lot of thought has clearly gone into the decor and overall aesthetic, and visually it’s a really lovely space. Breakfast was also excellent and one of the highlights of my stay.
However, there were several issues that meant I left feeling disappointed overall.
The biggest issue was noise. My room was located directly above the restaurant/social area and there was also a wedding taking place during my stay. From the moment I checked in at 3pm, there was noticeable noise coming from the restaurant and outdoor area, alongside a constant background noise that sounded like ventilation or an extraction/air-conditioning system.
I contacted reception shortly after check-in to ask whether it would be possible to move to a quieter room further away from the noise. I was told that they were “nearly completely booked up,” but I wasn’t offered an alternative, information about whether another room may become available later, or any attempt to explore options. That was disappointing, especially as I raised the issue immediately rather than after staying the night.
The noise continued into the evening. People/social noise reduced around 11:30pm–midnight, but I still found it difficult to settle because of the ongoing background mechanical noise. I ended up leaving the hotel for much of the evening and only returned around 10:30pm in the hope that things would quieten down. To sleep, I had to use both a fan and the TV to mask the sound and didn’t get to sleep until around 1am. Music/noise then started again from around 7am the following morning, so overall it wasn’t the restful stay I had booked.
The room itself was also significantly smaller than expected from the photographs. Size wasn’t my main concern, but it contributed to feeling uncomfortable.
